This story is so well written, and it still feels like something that could be told around a campfire. The poor man, stuck in this crushing life due to powerlessness, takes joy in holding power over the even poorer vagrant. He believes that the vagrant suffers due to laziness, when he doesn’t consider what misfortune has brought him to that point of helpless weakness. That is then turned on its head, when the spirit grants him fortune and power, only to then make him feel helpless again. And the twist at the end is wonderful too.

What you don't consider is that they noth suffer. It's just that the working man can't find justice in giving his food to the man that didn't work. He feels robbed of his life by his job, and will he now allow himself to give away his food to a stranger when he himself is tired, hungry and bitter? It's not a mere power trip for him, but an act of justice.

That person has enough self respect that he recognizes it's an imperfect world out there and people need to be outfitted well to make good decisions in the field I've been in that old guy's shoes, I hadn't eaten anything solid in about a week, you get lightheaded just stooping down. If he had just the tomato off the guys sandwich, that would have been enough at least to drive a hand truck You see middle management is the same as this guy, they can't see their way to BUYING work. They make you plead for it, as though basic human needs are a privilege. The man who is outfitted to do this sort of work _well_ is worth his hire. If you don't compensate him well, he'll take his business elsewhere. But living in their world, you hire employees to meet a quota. It's not competency it's pity, the scummiest form of narcissism

Is it really the worker’s fault for not giving him food? If anything, I consider both side to be at fault here. The ghost shouldn’t have the right to take revenge on the guy, but the worker shouldn’t have forced the heavy bag on the guy as well. Either way I just feel the revenge to be unjustified for the ghost (not saying the guy is completely innocent but I feel like the homeless man is also somewhat at fault here for not walking away and try to find other food sources and that his ghost form didn’t take into account that people don’t necessarily have to give homeless people food, nor consider the feelings of the worker who was working overtime.)
@zawwin18464 жыл бұрын
YES, the ghost had every right for revenge. He was a prick for letting an obviously starving man die in an easily avoidable death right in front of his eyes. Why didn’t the starving man find some other place? They were in a farm with possibly miles to the next farm. The guy was the last hope for salvation as the homeless guy would likely die of exhaustion before he arrive to the next farm. The fact that the homeless guy didn’t steal and was more than WILLING to work for it shows his character. If he was so set on working for his food, he could have let the homeless guy have half up front then the rest after working. If you watch the full episode you find the guys true character. He deserved every bit of the revenge.
@KonbiniBento4 жыл бұрын
Zaw Win Yea, I’m aware the guy is a jackass but still, it’s not his responsibility at the end of the day to feed the guy. Saying the ghost had every right makes it seem like he is entitled to the opportunity to just get food from people; sure he might have been willing to work and all, but if we really consider the circumstances of the worker, I can’t blame him for thinking like that.
@zawwin18464 жыл бұрын
I would disagree. It WAS his moral responsibility within that particular situation. We are not asking him to risk his life or make a huge detrimental sacrifice. It was a sandwich. As for obligation I think you might be overthinking the situation. The homeless guy was NOT demanding food. He was not like give me food because it’s my right. If he had done that I would have been with you 100%. I can understand how you feel, I work hard for my money too. If he had he strait forward with the guy I think he would not have been so bitter. He gave him a task KNOWING he would fail as he never had the intention to give the sandwich. This is just cruel. I think if you had a family member who experienced this, you would totally seek justice.
@KonbiniBento4 жыл бұрын
Zaw Win yeah, but the reason why I say it’s not 100% justified for his revenge (I do admit he might have some justification for it but not 100%) is because the way the ghost talk makes it sound like the guy forced him into that situation to begin with (when he was already starving for 5 days and could’ve looked for food for 5 days). But at the end of the day, if it comes down to human moral, it’s a subject of personal opinion. Each person treats moral differently, some will be the kind of give food, while some will be the kind to not give food. Can’t exactly say it’s “wrong” in a way, but it certainly isn’t right either. But since it’s a matter of moral and people have different view on it, we can’t really pass judgement onto someone for not doing the good thing when at the same time, it isn’t technically wrong either. People work hard for their money, I agree with that. I’m not saying the guy deserves to be crushed like a sandwich, he certainly didn’t; it’s really about viewing both sides’ perspectives. I wouldn’t say the guy deserve to just get away with it, but I also wouldn’t say the ghost deserve that revenge... Something in the middle ground if you may, is what I believe to be fair here.
@tkraid25754 жыл бұрын
@@KonbiniBento I agree. The working guy is obviously has a twisted form of meritocracy because of his life. Considering this, I wouldn't see the chance of him thinking about "moral" obligations like charity. He never had a kind of life that made him develop a sense of charity. On the other hand, the ghost is as twisted as he is, life screwed him over, putting him in a miserable and starving state. Whoever denies him he considers as responsible for his despair (considering he also begged other places before the warehouse), when in fact part of his suffering was due to his own choices.
