I have had it with the racial tokenism and lack of effort in this game. Some way. Some how, you have managed to ruin what hope there was for a return to a GOOD WW2 Shooter.
But no. No you had to release this insulting, broken, half-baked crock of amphibian turd.

So I am going to pin this comment here regarding Japanese War Crimes. The Imperial Japanese Army, as an entire institution, were guilty of atrocities almost universally among their ranks. Unit 731 were by far the worst offenders in conducting biological and chemical warfare (which ultimately meant they were given immunity after WW2 by the United States in exchange for their research data but that's another story) but they were by no means alone. Point is. When discussing the IJA and the IJN during WW2, there is no getting around the fact that they were under standing orders to commit atrocities. I have a selection of links to the Wikipedia articles for cursory examination. And for more hardcore viewing, there are several links to videos made by Dr Mark Felton on this topic. There are also too many books to list here that also tackle the subject comprehensively and I highly recommend checking them out. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Alls_Policy en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_war_crimes en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comfort_women kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnO7c2CNbaZpgZY&ab kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGGlapl7Yr2rhbM kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaG5mHedgNWEiZo&ab Please keep in mind, that this should not be used to attack or racially abuse modern Japanese people or undermine the Japanese culture, lest we forget I am also an Anime channel and learning Japanese, so my love for them is not in doubt. But as a guy from a country who completed a genocide against it's native people (my Australian family all live in Tasmania for context), I can't run from my nations past. And neither should they.

12:55 During the Chinese occupation, the IJs, especially those of Unit 731, called their test victims logs or lumber to be used in any manner as they saw fit. Suffering be damned. And yes, the nation of Japan has significantly matured morally. The sins of their fathers and grandfathers are just that... Their sins and no one else's.

14:25 honestly, I think you are praising a woke addition of a african-american unit because they are not that much represented in games. But you shouldn't, because I can give you an very good example of how a black unit was very good represented. In Mafia 3, Father James was in World War 2 and its stated that his unit were all black (3rd platoon, Company C, 614th tank destroyer battalion) and their engagement in Climbach a French town just outside the German border that resulted being rewarded several medals and unit citations, but in 1990s it was discover that were severe racial discrimination in the process of awarding medals during the war, and it was recommended that seven Distinguished Service Crosses awarded to African Americans be upgraded to Medal of honors . You should definetly look it up, if you like that much history and I hope you read it👍🏻

He mentions that one of the only things the Japanese soldier had in his possession was a photograph of a group of smiling Japanese officers beheading a bunch of random Chinese civilians, presumably for no particular reason other than the lulz. I think I kind of understand why it seems to be so hard for a lot of people to wrap their heads around just how utterly horrifying Japanese war crimes were - because so much of what they did was so absurdly over the top and barbaric that if you read about it in a fictional story you'd roll your eyes at how cartoonishly evil it was.

If they wanted to make a “progressive” game that was historically accurate they absolutely could have and it pains me that they didn’t just open a history book. They could have had Japanese Americans in Italy, Female Snipers or pilots or even tank crews on the eastern front, commonwealth’s troops of all stripes and colors literally in any theater. You could have had stealthy infiltration missions built around the exploits of the British commandos or any of the many intelligence gathering agencies that operated behind the lines with the resistance forces of different countries. But NO they just decided to make a generic Historically inaccurate and in my opinion down right disrespectful to those who fought in the war video game

The fact that COD: WAW, a game released in 2008, for the most part, had more accurate portrayal of weapons, vehicles, and uniforms; coupled with the fact that it portrayed the horrors of war on a much better scale, through their cutscenes, voice acting, inclusion of real WWII footage, the OST, a better Stalingrad and Battle of Berlin mission, and tone to the game, is astounding. Why in God’s name Activision doesn’t have the brass balls to remaster that game is beyond me. Notable moment is mid battle the engine and hydraulics of her tank were hit by an antitank round and she got out of her tank mid battle and fixed it, then continuing the fight, she fought for a year until she was critically injured by artillery whilst fixing the tank and later died in 1944 aged 38 due to her injuries. They are certainly way more story’s like these that they COULD’VE USED but nooooooo gotta either make it up or twist it so bad that it seems made up.

@@decarus834 not sure what you're talking about. The early model welded hulls had more angled (56°) front plates with the bulges for the driver and bow gunner, and small hatches. Those bulges proved to be weak points in the armor and the small hatches made it hard to get in and out of the vehicle. When the later variants of the A2 and the A3 came out, the glacis plate was changed to 47 degrees and thickened. This allowed them to make the front plate uniform in shape, removing the bulges, and introduced larger hatches for the driver and bog. This is the hull seen in the game, as it lacks the bulges.

my dad is that way about games when they claim to be historically accurate but aren't (such as the online "heroes" for this very game) but if a game never claims to be he goes in expecting Hollywood/Anime (in the case of any Warriors game) bullshit, where he gets the most mad is with the fact that KZbin actively demonetizes history channels because the refuse to censor themselves to accurately portray the history, I get the same way with anime about the Sengoku period that claim to be about an interesting and somewhat obscure figure from that time and then decide to throw mecha shit into it (*cough*Yasuke*cough*), I mean even the tv mini series based off a book of the same name, Shogun does a better job of portraying the time and it uses completely fictional versions of real people, including Anjin Miura (William Adams, in the show John Blackthore) one of the first foreigners to be given the rank of Samurai

The real life Owen Baggett was an absolute hero for what surviving being shot down, surviving a Japanese POW camp and being extremely charitable with children, but he did not shoot down a Japanese plane with a pistol. The Japanese records show no losses at that time, so either the part of the story where he shot at the plane wasn't true, or it did happen but he just didn't damage the plane or kill the pilot like he thought. I personally believe the second story, where he was ballsy enough to shoot at a plane with his pistol and the story got exaggerated over time to be him actually killing it.

@LibtardsStillCant SilenceMe20 I am going to quote this ... The interesting thing about the Type 1-3 is that it was a copy of the Fairchild Aero Compass, manufactured in New York by the Fairchild Aerial Camera division of Fairchild Aircraft Company. The Zero coded AI-154, which was shot down at Fort Kamehmeha during the Pearl Harbor attack had a Fairchild-built direction finder Model RC-4, serial number 484 installed in it, as did the Zero, which was captured in the Aleutian Islands seven months later. Illustration 4 (see below) shows the faces of the Fairchild control box and one manufactured by the Naval Aerial Navigation Technical Depot. The dimensions of these units are tentative ones made by comparing them with known dimensions of airframe components in photos. The control box appears to be 140mm long by 108mm wide by 80mm deep. According to the TAIC manual these units operated in the 160 to 385 kilohertz range, which is in the Low to Medium Frequency bands. The selector switches on a captured unit are labeled from 170 to 1200 kHz, however. In the IJN the Type 1-3 was known as the ‘Kruesi’ after its designer, Geoffrey Kruesi of Dayton, Ohio.

Also the Sherman M4A3 didn't have the additional side armour the M4, the M4A2 and the M4A4 used. And yes... the turret us too small. You could never fit 3 men AND a 105mm howitzer in that turret...

No, no you are entirely incorrect. The guns are too thin and long to be the 105. There’s a fucking muzzle break on some of them. They have the firefly turrets, with the box in the back for the radio. They have a 76 gun mantle as well. Not the 105 mantle. While yes, the 105 and M4A3 were box weld hull Sherman’s, the turrets and guns are completely wrong. Get up close to one of those tanks in game. You’ll see what I mean. Also, it was quite common for Sherman’s that didn’t need the additional armor to have it anyways by crews mounting them just for extra safty. Fuck, crews put anything they could on their tank to help.

An American in the 1940s not knowing who Jessie Owens is would be like someone from the modern US not knowing who LeBron James is. This is almost certainly because they fully expect the player to not have heard of Jessie Owens, which I would say is disrespecting your audience’s understanding of history.

I'm surprised that there wasn't a comment about the ambush performance because I can tell you right now it wasn't correct, those Marines shouldn't have exposed themselves while enemies were still alive, standard protocol for ambushes like that was that every single soldier in the squad were to choose a single target until all of the targets were picked by someone, then start the ambush because it ensured that everyone gets killed without the chance of an alarm being raised or a sentry slipping away. Edit: just to clarify the scope on the Type 99, yes, they did exist usually given to snipers of the Imperial Army as they are more likely to be hidden either in the branches of a tree (when they have a perch to stand on) or when they're on the ground, however Vanguard also got another detail wrong with this version of the Type 99, you noticed the scope is offset to the left, it's because it allowed the user to still be able to use stripper clips so they didn't have to sit there loading every single round individually like their Allied and German counterparts who all had the scope on top of the rifle.

funny enough a friend of mine just got his hands on an arisaka with a factory mounted scope and his first comment to me was "..AND YOU CAN EVEN STILL USE THE STRIPPER CLIP UNLIKE ON MY MOSIN!" no idea how or where he got the thing but he spent a pretty penny on it

I'm afraid your comment re ambush "protocol" and "every soldier choosing a [different] target" is complete and utter tripe - please explain how individual soldiers are supposed to know which targets have already been selected!?. Even on today's battle field, where individual soldiers might (just MIGHT) have personal radios, this would be all but impossible to achieve in a combat situation where the "targets" don't parade themselves in line in order to be shot. Setting up an effective ambush is a matter of deploying fire teams and gun groups to lay down as much ammunition into the killing zone as possible in the first few seconds of the engagement - and then try and prevent anyone from escaping.

@@siras2 in an Ambush you get a sector of fire and you engage whatever is within that sector.
@siras2
@siras2 2 жыл бұрын
@@derekmensch3601 Correct, but the initial few seconds always require maximum "shock effect" - in a deliberate ambush the arcs of fire of most of those involved need to interlock within the killing zone. This is not simply a matter of allocating arcs of fire to cover the whole frontage (and open flanks) as is normally the case. My point was that it's pretty ridiculous to say that there's some kind of "protocol" in place where each individual soldier should be instructed to engage one particular target prior to opening fire. This might work in video games but real combat isn't like that.

And incendiary weapon are not banned today either, they're just more regulated than normal weapons. Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons Protocol III says: "1. It is prohibited in all circumstances to make the civilian population as such, individual civilians or civilian objects the object of attack by incendiary weapons. 2. It is prohibited in all circumstances to make any military objective located within a concentration of civilians the object of attack by air-delivered incendiary weapons. 3. It is further prohibited to make any military objective located within a concentration of civilians the object of attack by means of incendiary weapons other than air-delivered incendiary weapons, except when such military objective is clearly separated from the concentration of civilians and all feasible precautions are taken with a view to limiting the incendiary effects to the military objective and to avoiding, and in any event to minimizing, incidental loss of civilian life, injury to civilians and damage to civilian objects. 4. It is prohibited to make forests or other kinds of plant cover the object of attack by incendiary weapons except when such natural elements are used to cover, conceal or camouflage combatants or other military objectives, or are themselves military objectives." Basically you can used incendiary weapons as long as your target isn't a civilian population, isn't located within a civilian population, isn't the forest itself (but can be used in a forest if said forest is being used as cover). Tldr: Incendiary weapons are valid as long as you don't crisp civies. This is detailed on the UNODA treaties acessible by the wiki page on Protocol III.
