I gave my babies real oatmeal by grinding it down fine into a grinder and mixing with breast milk. You can put a little heat to it. I made my own baby food. I didn’t purchase processed foods.

My daughter started my Grandson with Rice cereal mixed into my Grandsons baby bottle Not alot just a baby spoonful. He loved it and slept longer at night because he had a fuller belly. So when he was old enough to have the rice cereal thicker and spoon fed. He already liked it. We mixed in Gerbers Banana baby good and he would eat that for breakfast. I would sing the Apples and Bananas song and he giggled alot. Made for a great morning time feed while we let his Mama sleep in. Precious Gma/Grandson time. Im an only child and had 2 girls and my first Grandchild was a Granddaughter do when this Precious little boy came into our lives litterally on Christmas Eve ( 2 yrs ago this year) it was a whole new experience. 💙 completely different than all us girls. He ate alot more than them too and started on the rice cereal in the bottle with his milk.. alot sooner as per Dr suggestion. He has hit all his milestones early and was walking already by 9 mos. He is always on the go. LOL 💙💙 Enjoy your time with Malena.. it goes by so fast. ❤

Use breast milk in the oatmeal, also don't make it thick as it could be a texture issue. As she adjust, the next time make it a little thicker. Their first solids should never be fruit, because it taste so good, they will refuse other solids. Try purred veggies like squash, sweet potatoes etc. Try and avoid fruit until after she has tried veggies. Also she should be eating the same food for at least 3 days to make sure she does not have an allergic reaction, sweet potatoes for 3 days, then another food etc. If you are giving her rice cereal, fruit, oatmeal all within the same week & she has an allergic reaction, you won't know what caused it. Remember this is all new to her, she will refuse something today and eat it tomorrow. FOOD BEFORE ONE IS JUST FOR FUN! Mary from Boston

My daughter never liked the flavored cereals either so I always bought the plain ones and added the pureed fruit to it. Bananas, peaches, applesauce, berries. She didn't like the mango though.
