Hi Patti, I'm a Patty too, 73. You are brave to show us just what you look like without any adornment. I haven't worn makeup in years, I work from home and don't have a boyfriend. I have knee arthritis in both knees so figure who would want to straggle along with me? Anyway I appreciate you wanting to be your best and I have seen your incredible transformations when you do your makeup. Lately I am going online for meetings with my coworkers who are all 20 and 30 something females. I look horrible on camera and don't even wash my hair that much. so I am going to try and help myself to look a little better on camera. But staying at home since Covid, I stopped driving and living a life. I will look to you for inspiration and keeping up my beauty however I can. Thanks so much for all you share with us! You are a beauty!

I have a bridge and had a partial. The partial is not bad.the tooth has a little plate around it but you don’t have to worry about it. The. bridge is hooked to the side tooth. I love my bridge too. I don’t know about the implant tooth looks okay but they are very costly.my step daughter has problems with her four implants. They don’t match her real, teeth. My Beiderbecke is perfect so I would recommend the bridge.you many want to check with someone who has the implant. I might add my step daughter is not satisfied with he implants. Therefore I recommend the plate or bridge. I hope this helps you in some way. There it takes about a year to complete the implant.it’s a lot of work to,get it done.or work out the process. It’s not as simple as you may think to get the implant. The bridge is there for good and not difficult to make and put in. I truly appreciate your kindness and fun that you bring to us. Take care and and God Bless! I,wish you the best. I am sure you will make the right one. I am sending you my love and prayers.

Hi Patti, I have both crowns & bridges. This summer a 5 part bridge broke and it had made my teeth shift. At this point my only option was to get 3 implants for another more secure 4 part bridge & a new crown. I was getting my teeth straightened when two of those teeth in the bridge broke while using Invisaligns because the liners were very hard to remove. They broke with the repeated pulling on the liners. They are definitely not as easy to wear as shown on TV I've had the bone grafts and temporary little caps to keep my gums open for the implants put in. Last week, 4 months after first starting the process, they finally did the impressions for my new teeth. I'm 59yo and want to be able to smile without being embarrassed so I'm all for whatever my dentist & his associates can do for me. I am very grateful I have a PPO plan because nothing has been cheap. I don't think I could afford it all without insurance. They were able to do the bone grafts & posts w/o anesthesia so I didn't need a driver & it saved me some money. I recommend that everyone take the best care of their teeth always. You might have to put a large buy or trip on the back burner because your health is much more important. Most dentist will also offer zero interest payments for 6 mo or a year if you can't pay for everything right away. I know I'll feel so much better about myself with all my teeth back in my mouth.

Oh dear Patti - how I emphasize with you! I am 75 and have suffered with dental issues since I was a teen. I have had just about every dental procedure know to man , in several different states and in England - I joke that I have a ‘Bentley’ in my mouth! Here’s my hard-earned advice: Root canals can and do fail. You pay all that money 💰 for the pleasure of the misery.😓 When a tooth is cracked it has got to go! What then? A removable bridge will cause stress on the two teeth that anchor it. Not good on already compromised teeth. A fixed bridge will require you to file down (yet again) 2 other teeth, new crowns on them, and will cost quite a lot - and flossing will become more difficult. If you can afford it - an IMPLANT is your best option hands down! Done properly it takes lots of time, appointments, follow-ups and lots of $$$. I am in Ohio, and a premier dentist will quote you @$4,000.00. But it is worth it! I have 6 implants done in the 1990’s. They last. Go for it Patti! 👍🙋‍♀️🥰👏🤗

Agreed..I spent $3000 trying to save a tooth, fillings then root canal with porcelain cap, then redone when it broke down, eventually I said, just pull it out. After pulling it out, he decided he could have saved the good half of the tooth and rebuilt it, which I had done on another tooth, so I was really pissed that he decided that After he pulled it out!!!😮😡

Patti, I went thru a surgery that lasted for hours and the apparatus used for breathing caused my teeth to loosen. At 71 years of age and 3 bridges (2 upper one each side and 1 frontal bridge on my lower teeth) I did not want at my age implants. I have no regrets. At our age, bridges will carry us over the balance of our lives. #livewellbekind

Hi, you look beautiful, as always! I had a similar dental experience - I will spare you the horrible details - went on for years, and thousands of dollars and lots of pain later, the tooth broke off and had to be extracted. I wanted an implant but was not a good candidate because of weak bones. The implant doctor said another option is to do nothing . . . and that is what I did. I do NOT want to goof up two teeth to provide an anchor for another. My dentist agreed that I don’t have to do anything, but recommended that I have a retainer at night to keep my other teeth from moving around the empty space. I wish I could have had an implant, but I am happy with doing nothing. I would suggest an implant if you are a good candidate, which it sounds like you are! You are a trooper and I know you will find the best solution for you! You are the most amazing story teller - I would be mesmerized listening to you read a menu! Love you and your videos! Enjoy your cruise - you both deserve the time together. Blessings to you, your family, and precious Biscuit! xoxo

Patti, as I was listening to you I realized you were describing my recent dental experience. Last summer 2 adjoining crowns fell out. Both had had root canals years ago. My dentist said my options were a partial or implants. He said a partial can give you problems in the future so discouraged me from doing that. He sent me to an oral surgeon who assured me that once the implants are in that is it - they're done! In August the surgeon did my 2 extractions and 2 implants in about an hour and a half. Pain was minimal. I may have taken pain meds a couple of days. There was soreness for a few weeks but now they feel great and I go back to my dentist in January for the crowns. I highly recommend the implants to you. I am 77 and expect many years of the solid feeling they give me instead of the stress of the partial. My peace of mind is worth the extra expense. Good luck, Patti! I admire you and enjoy your videos so much.

I've had it all... Including a one tooth partial. Each story drama galore. The implant turned out to be placed incorrectly and 10 yrs after the implant cannot be removed sooo it has been cut actually ground off to gum level. So much for implants. The one tooth will stay pot until you purposely, intentionally remove it. When you put it back each time it snaps in!!!. Not even eating a Carmel or chewing gum will pull it out.

Retired dental hygienist here. I am super impressed at both your providers and your care. The epinephrine/ marcaine is definitely a great anesthetic. I was thinking vertical fracture while you were talking about your endo visit and I applaud your dental providers for coordinating your extraction. Keep those providers, they sound like they are top notch. If you have enough bone, or can have bone grafting, implants are the way to go and fortunately you won’t have to worry about the anatomy of your previous tooth making another crown ill fitting. It will be all brand new. Best of luck.

Hi Patti: I've had a partial on my lower teeth for years, but it's 5 teeth so I'm not sure about a partial for one tooth. However, the cost of a partial is so much less than the other two options so that's a consideration. A partial fits very securely so doubt you would swallow it and it has an apparatus attached to the tooth so no problem. Good luck with your dental situation. It was great to see you today! It was a great surprise as you usually are here on Saturdays! Blessings! Love the flirting story!!!

I've been a dental hygienist for 25+ years. From what I could tell it's a premolar (single rooted tooth) and so easy to have an implant. Since you had problems with the crown fitting, could your bite be off or tooth out of alignment? An implant is actually stronger then a regular tooth so if you have good bone support it should work the best. If you go with a bridge, the teeth on either end will need to have crowns which will hold the "fake tooth". If you already have crowns on either of the teeth, they will need to be removed and new ones made. If you have teeth without crowns, you will have to have them crowned. Some people aren't happy having to have that done. The bridge will have all three teeth which is cemented and is considered a permanent fixture. You will need to use a bridge threader to glide the floss under the "fake tooth" when flossing your teeth. A removable bridge {partial) is snapped into your mouth by prongs which hold it in place. Even though you are missing one tooth, the partial will need to go behind your bottom teeth and be secured onto teeth on the other side for support and hold it in place. Many people don't care for them as food gets caught under the metal band. Sometimes the pressure of holding the partial in can cause stress or damage to the teeth holding it in. I hope this helps you in making your decision. I've been following you for a long time and love how sweet and upbeat you are. They way you present your blog it's almost like you are telling us a story. We also are starting to cruise again. Already have 3 booked and we already got our booster so can't wait. Cruise #39 here we come... Wishing you and your family a blessed holiday season. (Merry Christmas).

Donna, this is an excellent explanation. It is what I was saying in layman's terms. I had to have my teeth removed because almost all were broken due to severe dry mouth. My intent from the beginning was to have denture implants. The mold was made prior to teeth extraction. This was September 2020. I am now on my second set of dentures and they still don't fit. I can't eat without pain and blood. Even lots with of adhesive they still pot out. I don't want them implanted till they fit because I don't want food stuck under them. I have already decided that instead of getting the permanently fixed ones that I am getting the snap kind so I can take them out and clean them when needed. I think part of the problem is that the dentures are a full set of teeth and I only had 26 teeth. They are too big for my mouth. I told the dentist up front about the tooth shortage from birth and have repeated it several times and he just says he can adjust them. Well he hasn't and I am getting sick of this. It will soon be 15 months. I miss eating salads and so many foods. Even more, I miss going out to dinner with friends. I missed my 55th high school reunion and other important events.

@@pattishumateanderson4633 You may want to go to a Prosthodontist that specialize in dentures. Some general dentists don't make many dentures so they aren't that great in getting the fit correct. One of the main things about having dentures fit correctly is the bone support that is left in your mouth once the teeth have been removed. If you had periodontal disease (that is the destruction of bone), so there many not be much left to support the denture. The upper denture always fits better than the bottom because of the natural suction and usually has more bone. The bottom only may have a slight ridge or, unfortunately, no ridge so the denture floats around. Your tongue trains itself to help try to keep the denture in place. The law of physics comes into place...when you bite into something the pressure of the fronts of the denture biting causes the backs of the denture to pop off. Not only is it difficult to eat and chew but it allows food to get under it. You also have to allow your gums and bones to heal after extractions. The immediate denture they make for you to wear right after the extractions is almost a temporary denture as your mouth will change once it's healed and it will no longer fit. They will then "reline" your denture to fit how our mouth is now that it's healed. Depending on what kind of reline they use it may have to replaced down the road. Some people who tolerate their upper denture and have problems with the lower will get the bar implant so they snap the lower denture into place. The lower jaw has the strongest bone for that compared to the upper arch (bone is softer due to your sinuses). Hope this helps and good luck with your dental health and finding the right appliance that will work for you. Happy Thanksgiving...

Patti, I love your videos! I am giving you some asked for advice. I worked as a dental assistant for thirty years and I loved it! My advice, based on personal experience, is to NOT do the one tooth partial! You would probably end up losing that little thing! I am 73 years old and I don't want anything I have to keep up with, so to speak! You can afford the implant or the bridge. I think either is fine. Once it's done it's over!! Just like your real teeth and no worry about swallowing it. Which, by the way, isn't just a crazy thought! I've heard many stories over the years of pts swallowing everything from temporary crowns, gold crowns and having to cough up an almost swallowed partial! Besides, who wants to have to take out a tooth or teeth when we " get old" and for one reason or another have to have surgery! Girl, you have taken very good care of yourself, so continue on with your teeth! I can not, tell you enough times to NOT get the partial! True story, a few years ago I gave my best friend this same advice and what did she do? Yep! She went the economical route and got the one tooth partial! She could not stand it¡ I hated to tell her that I told her so, but I did! 😂😂😂 Long story short, she now has a permanent bridge!! Patti, you are so special. I love listening to you. It's music to my soul. I have depression and I fight it like wild fire! You don't know the times you have lifted me up. I consider you one of my girlfriends and I keep my friends for life! I'm very blessed to have some precious friends. My very best friend and I started first grade together. We are so blessed. My next best friend I have had since we were twelve years old. So, when I make friends, I truly make friends. Won't you be my friend? God bless you and I look forward to your next video. I have missed some of them. I just accidentally came across your page and I was hooked! I'm catching up! ❤️ Don't get the partial! 😘

I had a bridge put in and no problems ever since. No antibiotics, no pain & no extra time cleaning it. I had a tooth removed because of a crack (same as you) and I didn't want one of those, what I call (Frankenstein) implants. And I'm glad I didn't. I have a friend who has had to have 2 implants put in; she has had so much infection with those implants and pain; she has been on antibiotics & pain killers for 2 months. She is just wasting away, because she can't eat. No thank you, I'd take a bridge any day over an implant. Dentists are pushing people to go for the implants because they make big bucks w/them, but you have to think what is best for you, not the dentist. Bridges can last 10, 15, 20 years or for the rest of your lifetime. I'm glad I went w/the bridge. Melissa had 2 bridges put in too; I think she's been fine with them. I never believed in root canals either; no guarantees w/them & as you found out w/multiple root canals on the same tooth, they can never really get all the infection out. Good Luck, Patti! xx

Just love chatting with you. Currently on my second root canal replacement, as I am told they last only about 20-30 years. Chose to have the first incident in the early 2000’s having tooth extracted and an implant. While more expensive than a bridge, I preferred that to a bridge which requires grinding down both teeth on either side for crowns that anchor the bridge artificial tooth. Have been thoroughly satisfied with that implant. Just need to be diligent with flossing it. Now dealing with a second root canal that started providing pain and opted to do the implant route again. Tooth was extracted and bone build-up installed by a magnificent maxillo-oral surgeon to which dentist had referred me. That will heal over my snowbird winter down your way. Upon return home in early May, implant process will begin so as to heal and be complete by summer’s end. The is a program called Care Credit that offers no-interest loans for dental, medical, vision, etc services. My dentist introduced me to the program. I highly recommend it! Good luck with your journey!

Love hearing about all! My sister has had 2 implants. My husband has had two partials and has lost them both! He couldn’t eat with them so he would take them out and ended up throwing them out in the napkin he cover them in at the table where we were eating. I have a mouth full of crowns too a few caps! I don’t know what I would do! If in the front I would do an implant. I had a tooth pull a few years ago rather than crown since it was a wisdom tooth. Getting ready th have the corresponding upper wisdom taken out too! At this age do we really need wisdom teeth? I have had the same bump on my gum for two months. No pain it just burst every couple day’s.. Sure it has something to do with the capped tooth it sits by. Just rebooked my cruise from Feb till the fall as my Dr. isn’t keen on me cruising yet! I have my vaccinations and booster but with asthma he thinks it’s too soon. So here’s to next year. We are hoping to head to Florida for a month in January or February if all stays the same. MIL got Covid-19 and got an infusion and is doing well. She’s 93. We will be celebrating our 54 anniversary in a week! Where has the time gone! Guess I’m still in love! I use the same shampoo. Also Nanny from Nanny and the Moose said she uses Caster Oil as a face moisturizer and I’m noticing my eyebrows are filling in with lots of hair. After research I see it’s also used to increase eye lash volume. Will try that soon! Have a great Thanksgiving!! Keep posting! We young old girls love hearing all your thoughts, ideas and shenanigans! 👩🏻‍🦳💕💕 Janie from Chicagoland!

Hi Patti I had a bridge for many years (four teeth, front, top) but the two teeth on either side of it suffered and I was advised to go for implants. I did, and honestly, it was the best thing I ever did. It was a long process as I needed five implants, but I’ve never looked back. Since then, I’ve also had implants in the bottom and bone grafts as I have Osteoporosis which has impacted my jaw. It’s expensive and I will probably be paying for them for evermore but I’m 73 now, and hopefully, they will see me out. I so enjoy your videos, thank you.

Patti, I’ve have just gone through your same experience with my teeth a few months ago. I was ready to get the implant. My gum where the tooth had been pulled, had healed and I was ready to get the implant started. The Dentist had to do another peripheral X-ray. So that being done., he came back in and told me that in order to do the implant that I would have to have a bone graft that nay or nay not take. So I opted for the partial which was 1400 dollars. It fits great and is so lightweight . The new partials are great. They aren’t like they were in the old days. Those were awful. You will do great. I’m 71 for 3 more months. I forget my tooth is a partial.

I have one implant, no problems, and in the process of another one. No regrets, worth the money. The bridge is a little less expensive. But you are right, you have to crown both teeth surrounding the one, if they aren't crowned yet, you know they have to take away some of both teeth to crown them. With the implant it just involves the implant and doesn't affect the surrounding teeth. I used to be a dental assistant in the past, least problems with implants. With crowns there is still the chance of cavities happening, with the implant no chance of that. My opinion only, it's worth it to me. Good luck my sweet friend !!

Yes I’ve had plenty of experience, I’ve had it all Patty. Go for the implant. If you do the bridge they shave down the teeth next to the missing tooth and that trauma often leads to them needing a root canal and down the road pulled. . The removal thing, was awful for me too, it would come loose and the quality of eating was just not great. I’d get the implant and be done with it for good. I love my implant, if I had known what I know now, I would have done it every time I needed a root canal. Good luck with everything!💋

Hi Patti, for me, the Dental Implant was the preferred choice. Recovery is a little longer, however the advantage Implants have is that they preserve bone and prevent deterioration of your facial structure. They also prevent the surrounding teeth from shifting around.

Hi Patty!! I am 74, and had an implant and am very glad I did. I had an old bridge that was a problem, so I had an implant and two crowns done (the two that were anchor's to the bridge, on either side of the implant). Yes. It was expensive, $5000 here in California, but I will never have to worry about that tooth ever again!! haha. Here is the thing about bridges. They are great, and mine lasted a long time, however, if you ever have a problem with one or both of the teeth that are crowned on either side that anchor the bridge, then you have to replace the whole thing....two crowns and the bridge!! I would never consider a partial....too many memories of my mom's partial soaking in a glass in the bathroom!!! With an implant, it is very very rare to have anything go wrong with the implant. And if you have a problem with the crowns on either side, then you just deal with the one tooth that is a problem. I'll tell you Patty, if I ever need a second root canal on a tooth, I think I will just tell them to pull it and put in an implant! Good luck!!! You will do what is best for you. :)

Hi Patti, I too had my tooth pulled 2 weeks ago due to a cracked root and just like you I had a root canal twice on it. I’m getting an implant. This will be my second tooth implant. Do find out if you are a candidate for one. Not everyone has enough bone. The specialist would determine this. Sometimes they also have to do a bone graft but if you can, an implant, if done successfully (and if you are a candidate) is most durable. There won’t be anything to rot. Keep in mind, even bridges can fail over time but with an implant, if you are flossing, brushing, and water picking, it should last you a lifetime.

Hi Patti...I have very old caps on my teeth...and gums are receiving...so would eventually need new ones....one tooth in particular was bad and needed removal...so I had an implant...it's been fine...At first you get a temp while the implant heals...(as it has a cap...) and after that the final permanent cap snaps on the implant part... it's amazing...If I had enough $...I would get every tooth done!!! As long as your bones are ok. In the jaw...you are good to go! You can also get a whole mouth done based on 4-6 implants...the others can be permanently attached to those implants!!! As gums can shrink over time...the teeth (caps) need to be longer for that reason. It's great to share...GO Girl!!! Love Ena...😍

Hi Patti, I'm 63 now and was born without an adult tooth below one of my teeth. It's the bottom left tooth behind the incisor. When I was a child the dentist said the baby tooth might last 10 years but it hung on for decades and eventually fell apart when I was in my late 40s. I was scared about the prospect of having a bridge or implant and procrastinated doing something about it until 2013. I finally decided after consulting with my dentist to get the implant. I had an excellent oral surgeon and the experience was seamless, painless, really so much better than I ever expected. As I recall I had to wait some months after the 'screw' was implanted before the crown could be put on by my dentist. The cost was $2985 for the oral surgeon and $1935 to have the crown put on, for a total of $4382. I am so happy I did it! The tooth looks good, feels good, just like a real tooth. The cost was well worth it and I would definitely recommend an implant to someone considering the different options to replace a missing tooth.

Hi Patti, Glad I found your your tube channel, recommended by Kimberly, Pretty Over 50. Looks like you gotten a lot of advise about your dental situation. I had a similar experience, only without the root canals, but was in the process of having an implant done, only to find out that there wasn’t enough room between my teeth to instal the implant, so I chose to go the the bridge, and all worked out well, but I was really shook up when they told me the implant wasn’t possible. I didn’t even consider the partial, but the implant is the way to go, and especially with the price difference being close. I had two other very old crowns on top that needed replacing also, so went ahead and got those replaced, so my social six on top were all done. A big expense, but hopefully won’t need them done again, and felt good to have a nice smile again ! Good luck with what ever you decide to do. Just love your sweet personality, and I’ll be tuning in to keep up with your adventures in Florida ! ☺️☺️

Hi love...I have been married to a dentist for 50 years ( met him while he was in dental school and I was flying for American Airlines)... I have had just about every kind of dental work imaginable! Was even a bit of a guinea pig for him and fellow students... I have had many crowns and bridges through the years, and did have an implant done by a friend a few years back...definitely go with the implant! No need for tooth on either side to become involved if possible, but would be the case with a bridge...implants are costly, but worth it! Hope that helps... Thank you for being so dear to all of us😘

My 1st root canal was 52 years ago and it’s never stopped. Probably have had 10 total and 3 have eventually become implants. Have another implant where they wanted to do a root canal, but skipped that and went straight to the implant. Yes, they are expensive and there are drawl backs to them. Years ago, the crowns were made from some metal covered in a porcelain type material. They seemed to last forever. The newer ones are acrylic and, if you do any teeth grinding, you can destroy them. I’ve destroyed 2. Also, the glue can let go. I’m having that problem now. Have no experience with partials as my dentists always talked me out of them. You won’t swallow them because they hook to your teeth on either side. Because my teeth are cavity prone, the hooks become a source of a cavity. However, we have moved and once I get with my new dentist, I’m going to discuss converting any new dental problems to partials. I need to watch the expenses and root canals and implants are only minimally covered by many insurances. As for the bridge, I’ve have 2 implants next to each other. The crown covered both teeth so there was no space in between. Drove me crazy! Felt like I had something caught between my teeth that I couldn’t dislodge. That may have lead to the teeth grinding that eventually destroyed that double crown. I would think that by the time you’re in your seventies, we wouldn’t be having these problems with teeth. Like I wrote above, from here on out I’m going to be as fiscally conservative as possible. It used to be that if, in the future, you needed more teeth extracted, they could possibly be added to the existing plate. Don’t know if that still holds. If you go the bridge route, how is that held in place? You need more info. Google. I will not get any new root canal/crowns, as that also runs around $4000 total. Same goes for implants/crowns. That’s more than our combined SS/mo. You have to look at where the tooth in question is located. Is it in your budget? What is the condition of the other dental work, including the age and if there are any chips or cracks in them? I think you may want to have a consultation and extended visit for a full assessment before making a final decision. If you need to talk, I’m available. Don’t go out much. Husband with dementia who really doesn’t like being away from home and his dogs, so I’m here if you need me. BTW, never had any luck with micellar water for makeup removal. I use Good Minerals cleansing balm followed by Cerave moisturizing cleanser.

Oh, my. I had the exact issue with one of my teeth. It started in 1995 and a new dentist I went to last year finally figured out that my tooth and root was cracked. I was in pain from that tooth, had root canals and many crowns that wouldn’t stay on. I hated losing the tooth but was so happy to end the pain and all the treatments I’d had over the years. I’m happy that you got yours taken care of. What a relief!

I enjoyed every minute of your chatty chat. I hate dentistry...over the course of my 66 years I have had many fillings, one root canal, 9 extractions ,4 of those were wisdom teeth...oh the pain I have had in my mouth, but it is important to care for them so off we go. I don't have any replacement teeth ,maybe I'll have them all out one day and wear dentures. My Mom had top dentures for years and a partial with 2 teeth on the bottom, never lost, broke or swallowed, they were fitted well...she wore them till she passed. The dentist you are seeing is your best adviser...there are so many different experiences. I would say myself if the implant can be paid for, go for it. Then go on your cruise and enjoy!! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

I've had a dental implant ( a molar) for about 15 years now. The molar removal, bone graft and implant were done by a periodontist and I've had no problems with any of that. However, the crown made and put on the implant by my regular dentist at the time never fit properly and allowed food to constantly catch between the implant and tooth next to it. Eventually, years later, I developed a cavity in the side of the adjacent tooth because of that gap, so had to have a filling put in that my new dentist was able to make in a way that keeps the two teeth from catching food between them. However.....as for implants, my son tried an implant for a missing front tooth, and for some reason got a bad infection in the gum that wouldn't go away, shortly after having the implant done. There was also a problem with the too small amount of bone in the front, where his implant was located, although I don't know if his dentist ever did a bone graft (I suspect he did not.) At any rate, the implant had to come out and my son now has a bridge. As his mom, this breaks my heart, because not only did it damage the two teeth used as an anchor on either side of the missing front tooth, but the three "new" front teeth (2 crowns for anchors on the sides) don't look anything like his originals! And the memories of all the years of him wearing braces as a kid and me paying for his orthodontist didn't exactly make me feel better, either, lol!) He just doesn't have the beautiful smile he used to have. However, my son is happy with his bridge, because he says he can finally smile again, and is out of pain, so that's good. Best of luck to you, Patty, it does seem as if implants are a better option if they work out for you.

Hi Patti:) Great to see you:). Ur hair looks so healthy:). I have always had very thick and curly hair-I have new hair growth exactly where you do but at the top of my crown area is thinning. Thanks for the shampoo tip👍 I have done a lot of research on implants but I have read about some people being allergic to them or their body rejected them. I can’t wear costume jewelry (get a terrible rash) and I was all for getting one implant until I read that they may say they are 100 % titanium but that’s not always the case. While in my oral surgeon’s office there was a young woman who had a bad reaction to an implant-had to have it removed at the hospital (she was so upset cuz her insurance wouldn’t cover the hospital charges) and then she got called in cuz it was her turn so I didn’t get the whole story. My niece in her 50’s had one implant but the doctor explained he never does one until the area has healed for 6 months after the “bad” tooth was extracted. She has had no problems since:) I believe a lot depends on the bone being strong or healthy enough to do an implant. I hope all goes well~Plz keep us posted as I’m still undecided as to what to do. I recently had to put a new crown on a tooth and the new dentist I went to designed my new crown right in front of me (after preparing the area first) on his computer and then sends the exact measurements to the Kiln right in his office! It took about 15 minutes and I left with my new crown that very day! The new technology they have is amazing:)👍😊💕🙏

While the implant takes much longer to install & more expensive I'd do it if it wouldn't kill the bank. Why? No additional risk of cavities or complex oral health problems later. The bridge requires, depends on the two other teeth and can be damaging to them. If it's about budget then I'd go for the partial. I'm excited to hear you'll are going on a cruise 😊

I have a permanent five tooth bridge on the bottom lower right put in last year (at a cost of $7400) and have had no problems with it at all. I was given the option of implants but it was so expensive and given that I take medication for osteoporosis, which can inhibit healing of the gums, that factored into my decision of getting a bridge. Also, I just wanted the whole process to be over quickly and not have to wait months with the implant process. I have not regretted my decision. How wonderful that you are going cruising again. My husband and I are cruisers as well but I am not ready just yet to go but hopefully will be by the summer. Enjoy your cruise.

Hey Patti, back in April I had some dental surgery performed and it was also $4000.00. Expensive in any situation but especially when you are still raising two children like me. Let me tell you this. My procedure was to avoid losing any teeth and I was sick about the price and terrified about the pain which there was none at all. Writing the $4000.00 check was the only pain I felt This was honestly the best money I have spent on myself. No regrets. I also found out from my periodontist and dentist that bridges can also cause major problems for the other two healthy connecting teeth. I would recommend the implant 100%. I don't have any implants (knock on wood) but that's the way I would go.

I recently read an article regarding implants that they were having trouble with. Anyone else heard.

@@helenwalker716 Yes Helen-I have heard plenty about implants and I would never have one. Research about them on KZbin. Also my niece had one done and was told they would not even attempt an implant until 6 months after her “bad” tooth was removed. So you may want to be careful about having it done too soon , Patti. If you have any reaction to metal it can be a nightmare. They are supposedly titanium but some have other metals like nickel in them as well. It’s a tough decision to make as we get old. I had a tooth that gave me no problem at all until one day I felt a large swelling on my roof of my mouth. I was referred to a root canal doctor who did a second root canal on the tooth but told me I had a huge cyst in that area. I finally had to go to an oral surgeon and he had to remove the tooth. The cyst had got so big (again no pain) that it spread to my entire sinus cavity and he operated on my sinus cavity and finally after 10 months he got all the infection out. I had to pay for the second root canal and then the tooth had to be removed anyway. The oral Surgeon did the sinus operation Pro Bono because he could not believe the Mayo Clinic had put me off for months because the ENT surgeon said that kind of surgery could only be done by an specialist at the Mayo Clinic! Surly get a second opinion explanation but get more than one opinion. I pray this gets the proper care🙏

@@juliefizpatrick513 Hi Julie, I had some bone graft surgery done. Apparently the dentist that I have been going to for many years along with my regular hygienist were not examining my teeth or x rays thoroughly and suddenly freaked out when they realized that I had some bone loss with a couple of teeth. I had complained about tender gums with those couple of teeth for a long long time but they brushed it off and attributed it to just being tender after brushing and flossing to vigorously. I trusted they knew what they were talking about until the day of my last cleaning with them last year when they both held up x rays up to me and basically told me that my teeth were going to fall out at age 45. In those words almost exactly. I bawled my eyes out and panicked. I have always taken care of myself and my health and appearance and I couldn't imagine losing teeth. Then I realized their incompetence and got really mad. I went to a great periodontist (still going) had successful surgery and now I go for cleanings every 3 months. It was expensive but I couldn't have stood the alternative. My dental insurance reimbursed me for about 70 or 80%. I can't remember right now but since they were not a provider for my insurance I had to pay up front out of pocket. Thanks for asking.

Thanks for allowing me to spend my coffee time with you! My ex has implants, but he also had partials.. ( and he has had bridges as well)- he found it difficult to eat properly with the partial... and used to end up taking it out to eat ... the implants ... were a time consuming option, and a couple of them did not take so he had to have them done again. The bridge that he had had for 30 years in my opinion was the better option, but... he was influenced towards doing the implants so that is what he did... he is a year older than you. I think that after watching the discomfort and pain, and the time consumption that he went through for the implants ... I would opt for the bridge. Have a wonderful rest of the week... Happy Thanksgiving to you, Jim, & Biscuit!
