Insulting, Daxter would be appalled by such a statement. (I've never even actually played Jak and Daxter, I just had a hard time thinking of a recognizable comic relief character to reference and realized that in most of the things I like the comic relief IS the main character)

Fun fact: Hackers came out 9 years before the "Piracy: It's a Crime" ad. So as dated as it was, it was literally "ahead of it's time"? Great review Noodle, can't wait to review this movie one day as well.

@@Arquinsiel The Prodigy is timeless. I can almost guarantee you don't wear the same clothes as those guys, or rollerblade, or phreak out about PC specs, though. There really isn't a set subculture attached to hacking these days like it was back then.

Man without my glasses I got one eye at 144p and the other at 480p; but when it was still being broadcast to tube tv sets. Glasses bring everything up to 256k@300fps. It's very gamer.

drinking game: take a sip everytime a line is either clearly ad-libbed, or extremely phoned-in. take another sip everytime an actor seems shocked by a line and just has no idea how to react. take a gulp everytime matthew lillard's character does something unnecessary and weird. a shot of water every time [computers don't work like that] advanced/alcoholic version: replace the shot of water with a shot of whiskey every time [computers don't work like that] please do not play the advanced version in one sitting of the movie.

Hate to spoil the joke, but it's recorded in analog, so it's hard to get an estimate on what it'd be equivalent to in digital.

Though on the other hand a lot of low budget movies and productions, those filmed with TV cameras instead of on film, were actually edited in digital pretty much from the moment digital editing existed, then converted back to analog to release on tape. It was a lot cheaper than mastering and editing in analog, especially doing all the special effects in digital CGI. And on a low budget production the director probably wouldn't be a snooty analog stickler who said that CGI was cheating and looked fake (he'd probably be right). Anyhow, if that was the case here then technically my joke still works at least during the editing phase XD

Fun Fact: _Hackers_ contains the first public appearance of the hit PlayStation game series _Wipeout_ , developed by Psygnosis. The game the protagonists were playing in the nightclub was an early beta version of the first game. I have absolutely no idea why it's in this movie.

3D games were brand spankin new to the average consumer. So they looked (and not very hard) for most hip 3d-ass futuristic game they'd ever seen (probably the only 3d game they'd ever seen). I mean, it wasn't gonna be like Mario 64, Quake, or Mechwarrior, sooo alpha build of Wipeout it is!

You know what’s funny, I’m watching this video while doing a coding assignment. I’ve literally just been spending hours writing notes about what every line does. And that’s just to make a basic login system. To actually do what they do in this movie would take literal weeks and thousands and thousands of lines of code. Dude, Mathew Lillard is one of the best parts of the movie. Hell, he's like the best part of any movie he's been in. Can't speak for Scooby, never saw it. It's supposed to be like that. It's odd seeing people (I assume the younger generation), try to make sense and seriously rationalize a movie that was never meant to be looked at like that in the first place.

13:43 I actually found out that Secret Service does investigate cybercrime with companies, in order to maintain national security. I thought it seemed unlikely too, but I guess it makes sense. Love the content, don't stop doing your thing!!

heard that’s one of the main issues they happened irl in the 90s. corporations would enlist federal agents to deal with cybercrime and essentially control a government agency, making the whole investigation and arrest process much more shady.
