Position sometimes better than having the nuts. Position and bet structure is what will make you a better player
@Adherento
@Adherento 3 жыл бұрын
It's very important to be in position regardless of the game as you can drive the action. If it comes to the AA hand it's 100% call in that spot, because of SPR. You keep his bluffs (if he has them) and can't make any value from a lot of worse hands, he can even fold Q there easily. I've seen people min raise or min 3-bet with a draws or just TOP PAIR to find out where they are instead of committing all the money.

This will sound crazy. I don't put too much in position (I play 1/2). I limp a lot. I PATIENTLY wait for my rush, and when the heater comes, I start raising and playing most playable hands. It is knowing how to maximize the heater. Any position is a winning position with the right mindset and the Jedi-Poker. You usually cannot do this on 2/5 or higher. And all of you who believe position is so valuable does not truly understand how to use bad position as an asset to winning. Live Long and Prosper.

Fyi people hate playing with people who never show. If you play a good strategy it makes no difference if you show, also showing bluffs or made hands depending on the table can be HIGHLY beneficial. Also hes a freaking poker vlogger I dont think hes worried about showing hands 😆. Playing online, ya never show.

Jed McCullough you can't say that showing hands makes no difference and in the next sentence say that it can be highly beneficial. It makes a difference for sure. It can be highly beneficial depending on situations, but showing hands gives insight into your decision making process and betting. You can use this to your advantage, but it can also hurt you.

You seemed to go to protect your cards when he was looking around trying to get a read on you with the 6s8s. Maybe it meant nothing, but subconsciously covering your hand, straightening it up, gripping it, etc usually means strength as you are "protective" of it. After you bet, don't move. At all. Ever. Get used to that, and it won't seem weird to the table when you do it. If you're always moving, how you do it and when might give something away.

For pot odds, you DON'T include your call, so it's 3:1 in that hand, not 4:1
@SenorJoeBiden
@SenorJoeBiden 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Say you put $50 into a $100 pot. To calculate odds, it’s simply 2:1. To calculate EQUITY, you add your call, making it 50/150=33.33%. I prefer the equity method because I work better with percentages. Same numbers, different representation.
@Tico5907
@Tico5907 3 жыл бұрын
You got half right, the pot odds are basically 3:1 but you definitely included the call as the villain. In the KJ hand hero bet 55 into 100. If villain calls it would 55/210. So he needs to win 26% of the time to break even, which is basically 3:1

Nice work Poker Beast. Keep up the great work. I know you have had a bunch of comments and suggestions about your AA hand. Awesome job pre and post flop. Turn - you took away his option to bluff off the rest of his chips on the river. He was probably checking the strength of your hand and you pretty much snapped it all in. Had you just called his raise, he had no other option but to bluff off the remaining chips or “value bet” in his mind if he improved his hand. By Shoving all in on the turn your opponent got the information he was looking for.

The flush draw bricked out when you had AJss. The villain with 64 was hoping you would bet, or even jam the river, to where he could call or raise. It can be challenging to bet the right amount on the river with the nuts when you’re first to act. Let’s say the A didn’t come on the river and you’re sitting with A high. Villain with the nuts could bet $100 and you immediately fold, because you have air. He could check and you check back. He can check, and you throw out a bet to rep a set or 2 pair. Now he can choose to call or raise. Here’s my thoughts on flopped straights. You mostly win your money from players who flop sets or even 2 pairs. Bricked flush draws make villain no money. Also, flopped straights are the most vulnerable to bigger straights, flushes, and boats. Villain was very limited on the amount of hands he was going to make money from and he could clearly see the flush draw was out there. Flush draw comes in, he loses money. Flush draw bricks, he makes no money. He could have raised the turn to get more money in, but if the spade comes on the river, he’s toast. He played his hand conservatively, because his hand was so vulnerable. He could very easily lose the maximum, but will seldom win the maximum.

usually when you get re-raised with the 1st-2nd nuts (talking about the hard where you turned a boat with Aces) you want to keep them in the hand to maximize your equity by calling their 3 bet. The line you took by 4 betting is almost never a bluff, the guy more thank likely had a queen with low kicker or a straight but you want to keep them in the hand and shove at a later streak. This will make them more likely to put their whole stack in the middle and maximize your winnings. Still not a bad play you made but you couldve taken more money.

On the AA hand, I like the raise on the turn--gotta get money in the pot. I think you just need to flat the 3bet though. It keeps his bluffs in play, AK would still be in your range, and there aren't many river cards that would ruin his perceived strength if he does have Qx or KT.
@oppressive1770
@oppressive1770 3 жыл бұрын
I believe the min raise when you had AA was the opponent checking to see where he was at. I think a call there is better because if he is willing to go all in on the trun he will either go all in on the river all call a bet on the river. No reason to scare him on the turn because I see the min raise as a sign of weakness.
@lohmann86

So Hey to the AA hand, the first thing I would do is to small bet the flop to see where you stand. against good players you can be pushed out of your hand on the turn and river if the Anot hit the turn ;) Then you made a very bad mistake that you shouldn't repeat, the player minraised you on the turn ... in position you shouldn't do anything except call ... what can happen on the river? you don't have to be afraid of any cards in the deck( maybe last Q) and the most important thing is KEEP HIS BLUFFS IN, if he checks you can still put the rest in. So I also play live poker and have often seen people put 2/3 of their stacks and throw them away after a raise. sry if it's not the best english, i come from germany;)

Like your VLOG. Still learning lots myself. One item I might suggest you watch is how often/much you win/lose when you go All-in first versus when you call someone else going all-in before you. Paying attention to position has made a huge difference for me as I now frequently fold when (1) I don't have the real nuts and (2) someone before me goes huge/all-in after the turn and/or river. I still go all-in first sometimes (like with the probable nuts) but my win rate has tripled since I began consistently folding following a huge over bet/all in bets in front of me after the turn/river. Having said that, I am playing Zoom/Zone poker online (~250-300 hands/hour) and bluffing isn't a very big part of the game like at real, face-to-face tables. Nevertheless, in the long run it can be much more profitable to get bluffed out a few times and protect your stack size for those nut hands which often account for 90% of overall profit.

First hand. There's no reason to jam after the turn 3-bet. It's not likely that villain folds but sometimes, like now, it happens. Maybe they just dont believe you(cuz they think your raise somehow makes no sense) and 3-bet. If villain has top of his range(AQ/JJ/JQ even QK) he jams river anyways so by calling you don't miss value against those. You really don't have to be so much afraid that the river is a scary card for the villain and he check/folds. Only A's and Q's could be that and those you and the board blocks heavily. So I think you should only call against turn 3-bet and get value from weaker holdings and kinda unlikely but still possible bluffs.

The 4b all in was the right play. Villain misplayed here. If he had a Q, he has to call the all-in, if he's bluffing with like maybe a J+gutterdraw the min-click is throwing chips your way for free, since the only hands you take the turn on the raise with are QX or AX, which have him drawing very slim or dead.

When you are working with percentages then you add the calling bet to the pot, if using ratio then you don't have to. E.g 75bb in the pot, you have to call 25bb, then you are getting 3:1 pot odds or 25% (25÷(75+25))

First hand with the aces, you should always call here being in position. You balance your range when your weaker than the nuts, and you still allow your opponent to jam the river if he's bluffing. If he has value but decides to check the river, you can still jam yourself. I see no argument for jamming turn. Essentially no real action killers can come on river, because any OK queen will either fill up or make a straight.

With AA, definitely just call his 3Bet on the turn. Sure, he should be calling your shove there the vast majority of the time, but if you just call there, you can still get his last $120 on the river. By calling, he'll feel more comfortable value betting a Q for his last $120, and may also run a bluff. Also, there are some occasions where showing your hand is a good strategy, but this wasn't one of them! He potentially just made a big laydown against you, and you immediately gave him a big pat on the back. Instead, you want him wondering for the next week whether he made the correct laydown. Not only have you justified his fold, but you've also validated any potential tells he (or any other players) may have picked up during the hand (like how quickly you 3bet, how much you 3bet, etc.).

Yesterday I actually played a session, was speaking about different hand nad that "if I had this and that, I would have a straight flush" to the player on my right, while seating on the seat 9, had JT[c] on the SB and didn't look at the board. Then, dealer tapped in front of me, that it's my turn to act and I saw the flop Q98[c] and thought "lol", I just flopped it while speaking about it haha Few hours before I flopped quads with 88. That was quite a good session after massive downswing.

yep.. you call and let him bluff the river. You had the 2nd nuts. ONLY hand that would beat you was pocket QQs.

Nice check back with AJs. In most cases I'd say bet for thin value but given the position and competence of said villain you made the right decision(based on results). Also when you make a bet on the QQJA board and the villain 3bets you just call you have the virtual nuts(-Quads). Give them the rope to hang themselves...Bgood P.S. It's refreshing to see a new vlogger who's actively trying to learn more profitable strategies, to improve their overall game and applying new strategies and lessons to the felt. GL!...Bgood

Pocket aces hand; the turn would be like screaming I have pocket aces, just call and shove on the river. If he checks the river Hollywood it and start playing it off that you have a straight and you hope nothing beats a straight.

No u don’t factor in the money he has to call because that money isn’t at risk you factor in how much money is in the pot and devide that by how much money you have to call

Definitely flat call there and give him a chance to fill up. he's got trip queens there, K Q suited, but not guaranteed to win with them. He's thinking you have 3 queens and may have filled up already. You did reraise. Let him bluff or fill up, or use your river all in as a perceived bluff. Me, I am betting value there. But I think the all in river bet as a fake bluff is under utilized.

Why in the world would you shove on the turn with AA.. You've got the board locked up and there no bad rivers except the 1 remaining Q. You still got 1 street left to put the money in the pot duuude.. Allow him to value bet the river with worse holdings or simply bluff off his remaining stack.. YOUR IN POSITION!

Call ahead before and you have 1h 30min after you call to show up. If not, you’ll be waiting! The number for the direct poker room is (619)315-2270. If you let them know that PokerBEASTs videos sent you, that’d be awesome!

If he would have been willing to call all in there, he would have been even more willing to jam all in on the river. You have to smooth call the re-raise there in position.

All in for sure. He'd prob check the river and then fold. Confused on the Q6 hand. Oh well
@PokerBEAST

The Q6 is reflective two things I think 1. Wanting to apply learned concepts too frequently or at inopportune times 2. Not having correct preflop habits due to lack of planning and focusing on my ranges
