Being an ex meth head smoking and shooting up I've been clean now going on 3 years...believe me its hard af what's keeping me sober is looking back on when i was using i lived under bridges homeless and just trying to self destruct not caring if i died ...actually i have OD'ed twice and was severely septic caught hep c ...i was up 23 days and was in a drug induced psychosis ended up getting locked up when i was released i relapsed once but by the grace of God i have sober friends now supporting me and through Tom's and novas music i can say that i dont want that lifestyle anymore .....stay blessed and keep on taking it one day at a time.

What people don't tell you... When you get clean life gets HARDER! Yes it gets better, but it takes work people. I spent so much of my life dodging responsibility, numbing myself to the pain of what had happened to me as a child, but also blocking out how my own actions as a drug addled adult. All the chaos I brought to other people's lives only compounded m wish to bury my head in a pile of "Rocks". Does life get better? YES but only if you are willing to put n the work. im currently 23 years old and on day 48 beating my addiction ive been through hell i honestly cant remember most of my childhood now that could be because of my adhd but with how horrific my parents always beating me, verbal abusing, breaking down my mind not to mention how HORRIBLE i was treated in school and the final think that really broke me was when i was 14 years old my pawpaw died and through all the hell i was going through he was basically the only person there always treating me with all the love, respect, and lessons i needed for later in life so i honestly died on that day and up until 48 days ago i have just been walking around in this corpse of my old self but ever since i have started beating this addiction im not exaggerating when i say for the first time that i can remember in my entire life its like this fog has been lifted off my eyes and i can finally see life and the beauty in it i have started loving myself again and actually thinking i look pretty good, i finally went to my pawpaw's grave for the first time since he died, i have been smiling and laughing more in the past 48 days then i have in the past 2+ years, and most of all i cam back to god and yes like tom said in the song "this is a war that ill fight forever" i understand cause even if i do slip every once and a while from now on at least i know i dont have to fall back into it i just have to get up and keep moving because i will NEVER let that addiction drag me back in that deep dark hole to tell me all these lies while i slowly wither away wasting this precious life ive been given thank you for this reaction much love

Relapsed recently on the H,, had a scare, taking steps to improve my chances to stay off. A big part of my issue that led to the relapse is romantic loneliness.

I've loved this song since it came out because it related to me deeply....but it hits harder now and your story added to why it does...12/04/20 my brother killed himself over baby momma drama and he did it with heroin. She got him hooked on it in the beginning and he was breaking that addiction then she left took his child and alot more. Then 1 night he said he was going to take a big enough shot that the pain would all end......and he did.... I love your reaction to this stay strong and sober. Congratulations on 7 years sobriety.
