How is it brave? Everyone has already made their mind up about Andrew, he’ll be playing him as an unlikable guilty party. It would only be brave if he decided to try and portray him as innocent or bring any kind of nuance to the role.

The one netflix did was written by Sam McAlister, the then producer at new night, as is the Prince Andrew interview from her perspective. This is about the same interview but from Emily Maitlis's (the interviewer of said interview) perspective. As I understand it both women had very different perspectives on the whole situation due to various reasons and this trailer certainly shows that will be the case
@ktwashere5637Ай бұрын
I thought I might be interested in this but its kind of like, I've already seen this. Why don't film and tv producers have any ideas? They all just make the same story over and over again, I suppose its not yet another Spiderman remake.
@dcfan7838Ай бұрын
@@ktwashere5637 Fair enough if you don't want to watch it, but from what I can tell it will be very different. This version is from the perspective of the interviewer (Emily Maitlis) rather than the producer/booker (Sam McAlister) who was the center/focus of the netflix version. Sam's perspective showed all of the actions and work people had done before she got involved and then everything she did before and during the interview. This version appears to be from Emily's perspective and looks more at the events after the interview (as well as the interview itself). To my knowledge Sam and Emily didn't time these to happen the same year or anything it was just chance that Netflix and Amazon wanted to do a deeper dive into the circumstances surrounding the interview. Each company has clearly gone in different directions, whether that will make them feel very different, we'll have to see. At the end of the day it's the same events being told by two different women with very different backgrounds and I personally think that's interesting, but you don't have to

What are the chances that two major streaming services are releasing two biographical adaptations about Emily Maitlis interview with Prince Andrew about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein in the same year 2024?? The only difference is that this adaptation will be a mini series and the other one was a movie. It feels like the time when we watched Emma Corrin as Princess Di in the viral the Crown fourth season and around at the same time, it was announced that Kristen Stewart will be Princess Di in the Spencer Movie. Remember Barbenheimer? yeah this is like that- but right now, it’s actually TWO completely same thing, same plot, same characters but difference is one is a miniseries and the other is a movie, both had different release dates but both are released in the same year. Yeah, we need a name for something like this too.
@yevgeniyaleshchenko849Ай бұрын
Well, I get your point and partially agree... But they are not completely the same since the previous film was from Sam's (former producer) perspective and this one is from Emily's (interviewer). They surely could have planned both releases farther apart from each other

It's not unusual for the streamers to do their own take of something they saw do well on another platform, though I think it's usually Hulu vs Netflix. Fyre festival, WeWork, Dopesick, and the Mudaugh murder in South Carolina are some of the few that immediately come to mind, but I know there many more. Studios used to sometimes do this, like Dante's Peak vs Volcano or White House Down vs Olympus Has Fallen. But it feels like it happens all the time now.

I’ve struggled with this version. The Netflix one was entirely through the lens of the producer and the rest of the BBC team. This Amazon version is much wider and includes whole sections devoted to what Andrew did in the run up to the interview. But how do they know? Where the Netflix one was focussed on the lived experience of the BBC team, this one is all over the place - to such an extent that it’s clearly speculation and fiction. I’m very disappointed in this new depiction. It could have been a unique perspective (Emily’s). Instead it tries more to be from Andrew’s. And so we’ve entered pure fantasy.

As a rectification to my first comment, I know that the royal family has a certain amount of revenues, such as merchandising and also some parts of a few of the palaces are visited by the paying public as museums, but I believe that all the revenue from that would have to be used on the upkeep of those places, which must be absolute money pits! I just finished the last episode of the series , and if indeed the queen at the time paid off the alleged sexual abuse victim who accused prince Andrew, 12 million pounds then that is shocking on so many levels. First of all the amount is staggering, and I have to believe that parts of that money has to come from heavily taxed British citizens. Secondly, as a woman I do not respect his alleged victim. When you are 17, you do know and understand what is going on, and unless someone has a gun to your head, just say no and walk away if some rich powerful persons ask you to prostitute yourself for them. Did they threaten her life in any way? I never read anything about that. Also, if you are suddenly coming forward in order to get back your dignity, prosecute the perpetrators and protect future young women from suffering the same fate, then go to the end of it and do not accept money from anyone who just want the problem to go away. That is not ok, it is also not ok that we live in a world where rich and powerful people can buy their way out of being prosecuted. The whole thing is disgraceful and a sham.
@harrydbastardАй бұрын
I really liked this I just wish they'd handled the victim stuff better. It felt like it was shoehorned instead of being treated with the respect it deserved.
