Thank you for your service and thank you for rescuing your fur baby. I truly think soldiers should be allowed to have dogs overseas because it brings a small sense of normalcy to them. And bringing them home helps transition and with any PTSD because they’re ‘war buddies’ together. They’ve been through a tough time and are great support systems for each other. Cheers

Thanks for serving r great country! I'm a veteran also. I'm also a big animal lover. God put animals on earth to comfort us humans and dogs bring alot of unconditional love to us. I find that I'm most happiest when I'm around dogs. I know it sounds crazy but it true. Dogs r so loyal and they always want to please u. God bless everyone and God bless America.

In the middle of the fear of life and death, of whom to trust and who might be treacherous for you, that these men faced daily, it is hard to convey how the love and loyalty of a dog affects them. The dog has your back, every minute, the dog loves you consistently, and the dog never betrays you. The depth of feeling for the dog, I observe, these guys hide it, but some of it is in their eyes when they look at their dogs: that's my friend, my dog, who knows what I went through and was there with me.

Army officer befriends dog overseas. Begins year long bureaucratic odyssey to adopt dog. Has to hand off process to members of relieving unit at end of deployment. Waits months for dog to arrive stateside and months more for it to complete quarantine. Numerous 'charities' and thousands of dollars involved. Enlisted jarhead befriends dog overseas. Smuggles him home without getting permission from anyone. Dog is stateside before he is. Bottles of hard liquor and dirty magazines given to supply personnel and military aircrews involved and hugs given to parents who dog-sat till he got back from overseas. "But that's against the UCMJ!!!" "And that's why no one will know your name!!!"
