I have a fun fact! The reason everyone looked super serious in old photos is because the first cameras had really long exposure times which required people to stay completely still for minutes at a time and it was easier and more comfortable not to strain themselves by holding smiles for that long
@JesusismyRock7733 ай бұрын
And also, they believed that if they smiled while pictures were being taken, that their souls would leave their bodies.
@jeannietarantola81733 ай бұрын
Also it was considered poor breeding to smile in a photo
@Tita-fg4um3 ай бұрын
I heard along time ago that they looked so serious because many photos were taken with family that recently passed away. They would dress the ppl that’ past away in Sunday best right before they had the viewing and all would have a last photo. Many photos are with children that’s past away or parents. Crazy in my opinion
@Nunyabizzo-e8l3 ай бұрын
@@Tita-fg4umthis is true, esp for poorer families because of course a painted portrait was super duper expensive, but having a photo done was also expensive…. Im early into the video ie 11:32 and I remember my grandmother (born in 1911 in Salem, Massachusetts but grew up in northern Vermont) would tell me stories about how her grandmother and mother were both "homemaker" back in the late 1800s. My grandmother was a little of a rebel and went to college for her degree to be a teacher. She said any woman who went to 'college' either became a teacher or a nurse. That was the only college they were allowed and even then it was counter to societal norms. My grandmother taught in a one room school house in Isle La Motte, VT, for a couple of years because it was still not proper for a woman to work and instead they were supposed to be homemakers. Interesting how the beginning of your story mirrors my own family ancestry. Thank you for sharing the history of the times back then.

That makes sense when you think of Planton’s restaurant The Chum Bucket only serving chum on Sponge-bob Squarepants.

Fun fact: A lot of people, especially younger people don’t know that names like Ashley, Shannon, Courtney, Stevie, Bobby, are all male names by origin but then couples started naming their daughters after their dads and they switched from popular male names to female names.

You should look into the case of Kendrick Johnson. He was a young teen who was mysteriously found dead in a rolled up gym mat and the circumstances surrounding his death and the investigation is very suspicious.

I think one of the best euphemisms is "took herself off the census". An old one is "shuffled off the mortal coil".

I wonder if Alice had BPD, it sounds consistent with what I’ve learned about it (not an expert just learning about it for a friend who just got diagnosed) like having a favorite person, the mood swings and extremes, the wanting to harm herself or Frida when it seemed like others might be trying to take Frida away. I don’t know it got me thinking. Such an interesting story!
@Kat-tr2ig3 ай бұрын
I was thinking the same. I dated a guy with BPD and he was exactly the same. PS don't date someone with BPD. Ever. Just run.
@Desi_the_destroyer3 ай бұрын
@@Kat-tr2igIf someone generalizes a severe disorder because of a bad experience they had with someone who was toxic with untreated BPD...... RUN. RUN RUN. BPD can only be truly confirmed through official diagnosis and care. If someone has untreated BPD and has a lot of toxicity in their behavior they are abusive. SOMEONE WHO HAS BPD IN GENERAL IS NOT A BAD PERSON. There are 264 combinations of BPD. And despite BPD being considered a personality disorder it doesn't make you abusive or a monster. BPD is more about emotional dysregulation and inappropriate coping mechanisms. Abandonment issues aren't actually at the top of the list. It's more about emotional instability and shifting sense of self. As well as hurt, mistrust, lack of emotional permanence it hinders relationships with someone with BPD. Because a lot of people with BPD also have CPTSD and it causes you to push people away. That's just my experience as someone with BPD and CPTSD. Not everyone with BPD is the same. But everyone with a stigmatizing opinion is the same. Uneducated and unhealed from their bad experience.

@@tstanleymk4you 2024 is the 100th anniversary of the crime and trial, so I’ve been advocating furiously for it all year! As far as I know, there is no other true crime case with this motive. And given Bailey’s fascination with “What kind of person does that???”, I’d really like to hear her tell THIS story.

Holy moly, I was just watching something else of yours and saw you just posted 43 seconds before. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten in this quick on anybody’s video! I have been watching you for years and I am now 50 years old and four years ago I decided to get the medusa piercing and it’s all because of you! I love how it looked on you so I decided to give it a try! At first I thought maybe I’m too old for it, but then I told myself I like it and that’s all that matters! And I do get tons of compliments on it!!!! I know you have heard this many times, but I really think you should do books on tape or anything where you narrate. You have such an amazing voice and enthusiasm that comes naturally to you. I have listened to other books on tape and the majority of them are hard to even listen to. Not only are you extremely easy to listen to you are incredibly beautiful and so much fun. I hope you continue to do KZbin for a very long time.
