I think the sailor was having a dream about his past, the model of the lighthouse showing up in the dream (he probably created the model) was his way to remember and cope with whatever happened, his father or him having the accident, maybe both actually, only he was the one that survive while his father perished (or the other way around, maybe the character you play as was the father) wich is a very nice story for such a trippy game.
@yisyis2 жыл бұрын
you are one of the few if not the only person actually talking about the game plot and I appreciate you for that :) I really like the father-son trauma part about your theory it seems fitting
@CloverCelest2 жыл бұрын
In the boat, there is a picture of the fisherman and a little kid, presumably his son. So it's likely the son died out at sea because his father wanted him to be a fisherman too.
@lemolea9571 Жыл бұрын
I think it's the father that was being super pushy about being a fisherman to his son and made him go out alone in a storm and the son felt he couldn't come back until he had more fish even in a deadly storm. Then the father died (possibly saving the son?) and the son survived but now with a phobia of the sea from the event. This seems like a dream or something where the son finally makes peace with what happened and isn't afraid of fishing anymore like Kevin said but also I think the line (possibly from the decease father, possibly just part of the dream) "I can finally rest knowing my obsessions did not drag you down" is important for the son to move on from his fathers death etc. Just wy deductions/counter theory. Still a lovely story, I love when games are like this- the story/ meaning is more vague and left for the player to interpret.

not sure if anyone has mentioned it already, but kudos for starting to include captions on your videos! it's still quite seldom that there is anything more than autogenerated with a lot of videos (especially post-communuty captions removal), so it's always a delight to click into a video and find that the person who uploaded it has actual captions available. they really are handy as someone with auditory processing issues :)

Kevin seems to be one of those people that seem dumb for how impulsively they act but actually posses a very analatical mind (though they rarely use it). I have a brother whos all about football and wouldnt read a book unless forced to, he also has good on strategies and could beat your average player of chess if he feel like it. The fisherman lost his father in a storm and dreamt what happened during the game and overcame his fear of the sea. That's what I got from it.
@Dev-Shake2 жыл бұрын
My interpretation was the opposite. The father had demanded his son not return without the fish, and in doing so the son ended up dying at sea, and the game was the father processing the trauma of getting his son killed. The models being about "saving" his son and fixing his mistake.
@disguisedcentennial8352 жыл бұрын
@@Dev-Shake no cuz the father says “I can rest now that my obsession won’t drag you down.”
@Amayawolf_012 жыл бұрын
@@disguisedcentennial835 My interpretation is this: the son nearly drowned at sea trying to meet his father's demands/expectations, and developed a fear of the ocean. He stayed in the lighthouse and built models, and since you see him sleeping at the end and there's multiple layers of interaction with the models the whole puppet thing is likely just a dream where you're working through his trauma shown through the hermit crab, fish, etc. The dad died some time ago (possibly at sea, given the "my obsession didn't drag you down with me" comment, though not at the same moment we see several times in the game with the big wave), but after the son overcomes his fear he's able to rest peacefully because his unreasonable expectations for his son didn't drag him down into despair and/or kill him.

Theory: Like you said Kevin, The fisherman had got scared of the sea after the incident, but then I believe he used puppets as a coping mechanism for his trauma and he replayed what happened up to the incident through his puppets. He then learned that he couldn’t have stopped the incident from happening so he excepted that it had to happen and it made him who he was, not making him scared of the sea anymore.

From what I can gather, the son almost drowned as a result of his father's pressure for him to also be a good fisherman, and became afraid of the sea as a result of that traumatic event. The hermit crab and fish are supposed to represent aspects of the son (having to "man up" and leave his shell to go captain a ship, and trying to bite off more than he can chew with the storm situation), and the model was also built by the son. The game itself is a dream where you gradually learn and work through his trauma. The dad possibly died at sea in a later incident based off the comment "my obsession didn't drag you down with me" but he's able to rest peacefully knowing his expectations didn't end up killing his son or throwing him into despair (because now he's able to go out and face the ocean again without being afraid). The multi-layered puzzles are actually a really interesting way of telling a story, and I feel like this game utilized it well even though some of the actions may have been a little tricky to accomplish from the looks of it. It's a very cool game
