This is a proper AAR! Great stuff and insightful reflections. I like your list. I would consider splitting the last Scion squad into two five-mans. In my experience it’s really difficult to find room for those 15 man bricks. So one is probably more than plenty. With 5+10, 5+5 and 5 without command you get more options to use the unit that you need in a specific turn, depending on secondaries and the situation on the table with regards to screening etc. That five man’s is great for actions. But could still team up with another Scion brick if you really need the fire power at a specific moment (you lose some shots sure, but gain more options). Two separate units also give better odds if you really really need to charge up on an objective from deep strike.

@mattiasgamin3891 yeah I've been mulling that decision over myself actually I've rarely found issues with finding room to drop even against strong players, maybe I'll drop them in a more passive position But the scoring potential of a small unit of Scions is really tempting I have a while before my next GT so we'll have points changes which can sway the decision

@@Joushi40k Yeah, with a varied footprint between the units you have more of a toolbox. And your right, point changes will affect things. Really like your content, keep it up! 🤗

Really enjoyed this thanks. How did the hellhound perform for you? Would you ever consider creed and a mortar as an alternative for increasing your ap?
@Joushi40k2 ай бұрын
Big fan of the Hellhound, your opponents will move weird around it because of how threatening the main gun's overwatch is I don't think the Creed + Mortar is a replacement in most metas, since the value of the body of the Hellhound is usually more valuable than what Creed + Mortar are bringing I'd consider them as a supplement more than a replacement

What do you think of the Regimental Advisors? A lot of people are taking Commissars for small action units but I feel the RA squad can do the same but also gives the 12” negate deep strike when it’s needed and with a lot of armies relying on their deep strike threats I think they might be a sleeper unit even if the other members of the RA squad are pretty bad
@vasilkalov26222 ай бұрын
Sadly, there is an issue: "At the start of the Declare Battle Formations step, this unit must join one COMMAND SQUAD unit from your army..."
@Joushi40k2 ай бұрын
yeah this makes them tough as action monkeys, but I think the Astropath is an interesting tech piece if you're expecting a lot of 3" deep strikes in your local meta

Why are Bullgryn so favored over Scout/Armored Sentinels? While I understand they fulfill a melee threat that guard lack, I find the scout move/order-ability/hunter-killer alpha strike/reinforcements/daring recon to be huuuge advantages in a forward screening unit that Bullgryn lack, even if they more durable.
@Joushi40k2 ай бұрын
I think you're underestimating HOW much more durable Bullgryn are into most armies. As an easy example, let's imagine World Eaters charge in turn 1 with a unit of 6 Exalted Eightbound. That unit easily kills 2 Armoured Sentinels and 35% of the time kills the whole unit They charge into 6 Bullgryn, they kill 2, 40% of the time they kill a third, those Bullgryn swing back and kill 1-2 Eightbound Bullgryn also screen and stage effectively at the same time because they can go through walls, which both allows them to be practically more mobile than Sentinels while also preventing infantry charges The last big thing is that having a melee threat is really big for having a plan B. If you shoot everything at a target and it's alive, well you don't have a second shooting phase to try again. Having a melee unit gives you a ton of extra efficient moving and damage and the ability to problem solve if the dice don't support You don't HAVE to run Bullgryn to be successful, but the game is way less forgiving if you don't
@syntheticjester11622 ай бұрын
@@Joushi40k I might have to try them out, I have a unit of 6 I tried out but wasn't impressed but might have to give them another shot
@Joushi40k2 ай бұрын
@@syntheticjester1162 there's definitely a kind of critical mass that they hit where they can be more aggressive Your first unit of Bullgryn is usually just ok, and I can definitely buy having a unit of ASents over 1x6, but by the time you have 18 of these lovable idiots there's not a lot of armies that can chew through them fast enough and they can trundle to your enemy's DZ
