I was lured into Amway in the 70's and 1 1/2 years later, after sponsoring over 20 couples, my wife forced me to quit and tally up all our losses of time, money, energy and empty promises that never came to fruition. These schemes are great for the few that start the gimmick initially but not so fruitful for those brought in down the line. I do not recommend MLM's unless you have a lot of time and money to waste. I will continue to purchase silver from legitimate bullion companies like AMPEX and JM.

This subject really annoys me because the people that are usually targeted are people that NEED the extra income that these programs say you can get. It's awful. MLM is the last place people that are in need of extra income should go and a lot of these programs don't care, they would take your last dime if they could and leave you high and dry. Thank you for sharing this Sal because this is an alarming subject that really needs to be brought to the surface. I would really hate to see someone in the community fall for this because the only people that benefit are the ones at the top of the food chain.
@SalivateMetal8 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. It's a subject that has been on my mind for a while to do a video on, but your podcast on the subject really inspired me to make a video on this and to get people to hear your perspective on it as well because of your experience in legitimate ways to make extra money. So, thank you for all you do!!! You're the best!

Very good point. I guess we can include the pumpers out there. But, the difference is that they aren't trying to trick you into Ponzi scheme . Worst case scenario, they sell you on buying silver or gold and it goes down in price.
@emperorofsilver60287 жыл бұрын
SalivateMetal Yes you are right salivate metal, the pumpers are selling many stackers a virtually impossible dream. I stack silver to preserve wealth and to double my net worth every 7-8 years. If buying and holding for the long term, saving them for the future, silver and gold are relatively less risk compared to stocks and other investments. Also they tend to rise during economic and political uncertainty. Yes, a huge massive stock market crash may happen causing silver and gold prices to hit 1,000 and 10,000 dollars per ounce respectively, however that is not the most probable scenario and the pumpers sell these get rich quick dreams to people.

MLM is essentially a legal pyramid scheme. The ONLY way to make money is to sell the idea of selling to compete with yourself and other WELL established entities selling products DIRECTLY to the public. It is a failed system. Your comment is a superior generalization without actually substantively defending MLM, which is not direct marketing no matter how you slice it.

I first saw this scheme in the mid-90's. My then girlfriend got this slick brochure from a co-worker. It was to sell gold Eagles, I think the 1/10oz, at about 3x what you would pay from normal channels. As a coin collector, I warned her and warned her but she bought into it anyway with a large sum of money. She then had to recruit like 5 people to get income from them, if they sold anything. Of course, she couldn't find 5 people who knew nothing about coins to buy in. I think she lost $700 and never even saw a gold coin, which was worth maybe $80 back then. However, I married her anyway. She learned her lesson. So I guess this has resurfaced.

I had that 10 oz 2012 Kookaburra. Got a great premium on it. I just bought 13 or so ounces back, and flipped those for about 15 since. Don't hold on to coins that have done well. Flip them for more silver before the rise in realistically to be had premium levels out. Keep the momentum going :-) It's a ponzi/pyramid scheme for sure but I'm playing it as long as I can. Especially since in Europe there is no cheaper silver than Philharmonikers and kilo's pretty much. 10 oz is a slight premium on top of that only, worth the risk as it often sells well after 2 years.

These schemes are illegal in the uk.In the UK we pay 20% vat on silver so it,s not worth buying,s.d bullion wouldn,t deal with me as I,m in the UK,why can,t americans help us buy tax free silver?
@SalivateMetal7 жыл бұрын
Yes, that VAT is oppressive. I wish Parliament would pass a low exempting silver for you.

MLM schemes always pick up toward top of some markets, and near bottom of others (such as PM's).
@SalivateMetal7 жыл бұрын
Very true, predatory either way.

I would call BS on this until I remembered the Franklin mint.....remember they would sell you one silver chess piece on a monthly plan.... did this to coins rounds..too.... wow. it does exist
@SalivateMetal7 жыл бұрын
Yes, but that is a different type of selling method. MLM is totally different.

The guy with the beard.

First off unless you sell on ebay or barter with others that's ok . But coin shops don't care if it proof or slabed . It's melt value for you . I took in a platinum coin into a coin shop , and they acted like they can't sell platinum . You can sell it to apmex for way more , and they rarely have platinum on their site . Scammers in these local towns . And I've bin going to these people for years when they sell junk silver for little over spot .
@SalivateMetal7 жыл бұрын
For the local shops, it's all about what they can move in the local market High premium modern coins don't sell well in local shops. Platinum or palladium coins don't sell well there.
@captainhowdy95577 жыл бұрын
SalivateMetal not true . He sells on ebay and that's his excuse to get it cheap below melt . But I always walk on them . Their blood suckers that sell silver eagles for 30 and buy them for 16

Ultimately it's for uninformed people and you pay the price for information. It's not a bad thing IF they had nothing to begin with. These days though it's still profitable but a bit shady. However, this like any other product has a premium. That premium is marketing because intrinsic value of silver is still spot anything over that is marketing value.
@SalivateMetal8 жыл бұрын
Marketing and profit, because like any other business there has to be profit in order to survive, which is why they charge so much I think, plus for the material, seminars, etc. Problem with MLM is the information they provide is bad information and ultimately fraudulent.

SalivateMetal I feel you. I think this video is directed to the people promoting KARAT BARS. They are the biggest pyramid structured company involving gold PM.
