I got a new mold and thought it would make some awesome bullion bars in metal so that's todays video. A few fails but I got there in the end. So time to turn off your mind and take in todays video and as always have a happy safe weekend😁👍.
Now Guys if you Feel like supporting the channel it wont cost you a cent as you can Simply just donate some of your time. By just by allowing the ads to play through this will help out a lot and that’s how I make a bit extra revenue and the good thing is more revenue means more giveaways and more treats for the dogs👊🏻😄. A better way to support the channel is play one of my playlists on your computer before you walk away from it and let it play through that really helps as well but don’t ever feel as though you need to watch the ads if you don’t want to simply skip them and move into the video it’s completely up to you and I understand if you don’t have the time to do so👌🏻😁👍🏻.

HOW I MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

Great to see you making something. Most people are sitting on their but. Yes I am a metal caster also. A hobby that went wild. My father had a foundry nonferrous. In Grand Rapids Michigan, USA . Our front doors became the President Jerrald R. Ford Museum. In your sand use less oil ,it will put a better finish on your casting ,no fire. Put flower in a sock when you have removed the pattern. Flower will put a barrier coat making less reaction metal to sand. An old foundry trick. You need to put boards on side of mold to support the sand clamped. Mount the gold molds to. A board, it helps to pull pattern out of mold. Plus it makes a nice Finnish to the back side. Its great to see your love for casting. See if you can buy son flux for brass. Ad a little aluminum to the yellow brass it will make it flow better. It burns out and isn't in forged billet casings to began with. Forgings and stampings in brass need aluminum but not much, when I was amid I added a lot and the brass broke like glass but was still yellow color. Instead of applying Telkom with a brush put that also in a sock and shack it on the pattern . it will go on more even. Great job keep casting!!! Metal caster man

I grew up in Grand Haven, Mi, only 1/2 hour from Grand Rapids. When I was in 4th grade, I wrote a letter to President Ford and he wrote back happy to hear from his peeps back in his home state. I still have the letter to this day and this was back in the mid 70's.

Not that you will see this comment, but Loved the video and the fact you always show the good, bad, and ugly of it all.. You kinda the "Bob Ross" of melting and pouring... always put a positive spin and a solution when something goes wrong.. The pups are always a joy to see as is your friends the clowns.. Perhaps cast a medallion for the big clown we saw in the last video. Is always cool to see what you have going on with the television and what is playing... Am glad that you were able to get the new place and are fixing it up... Should do a video showing everything you have done with the shop and the new pouring area you are working on.. seems a very tranquil place.. but I'll say this... I am waiting for that big kiln to get fired up and put to use!!!! much love and respect my friend.

You should add borax to the charge right at the start of heating and heat the brass itself to a lower temperature = less air into the flame, because the way you are mixing it now there is excess oxygen in the chamber around the melt and you are burning out the zinc = that's the white smoke and yellow deposits on the surface. It's made up of zinc oxide. Lower the temperature and put the borax in earlier and the melt won't crystallize as quickly.

I got a really good piece of land where you can hunt anything from an 8oz steak to a 6 pound steak. I love hunting the 6 pound steaks so the 8oz ones can get a little bigger. I got cameras up so I can pick out the one I wanna go after. The problem with hunting them is they're very skid ish and blend in really good with their surroundings. You can only locate them by smell. I love to sit on a tree line by a field and wait for them to walk up and start grazing. Some are really tough so you gotta make a good shot. Personally I love fork shot and knife shot. If you have to track one taste and smell are your friend. Sometimes when they're in heat you gotta let them rest for 10-15 minutes😂.

That lamb looked delicious. My mother would cook lamb for us and always serve it with mint jelly. Thankyou for bringing that back from my deep memory. I hadn't thought about that in many years.

Pretty good trick, turning spent brass into refined gold in one process.

I like the sound the plates make when they clink against each other. Those flat plates sorta remind me of those Pokemon gold plates they made for an advertisement campaign awhile back. As kids we would pretend that they were our secret retirement fund. Although the Charizard plates still seem to be pretty valuable.

@@kamelslife2844 I still dream of owning the Charizard one. Some are going for thousands of dollars though haha. Might actually be easier or cheaper to get a 3d print and gold plate my own casting or something.

These came out great, my fav is the mishap one, looks so cool! Just wondering why you use "100% Fine Gold" moulds instead of "100% Fine Brass."

Such a different video this week. Can't really put my finger on why, but possible reasons are background melting music, amazing snack, more clowns, bucket for dross. EPIC.

Since your so close to the weight goal, what has been your favorite melt you did for the stack? Would you consider redoing your favorite melt from this stack before you achieve the goal?

Hey there. Been watching your videos for some time now and eventually I want to try this myself. I’m a retired US Army Sergeant First Class from Columbus Indiana and just wanted to say thanks for intriguing me. Looks like something to help with my PTSD.

This video has everything, a great pour with nice molds, cute dogs eating cucumbers and steaks growing from the roof 😀. I'm curious why don't the crucibles have spouts for easier pouring? (not that it's needed, Bigstackd has super steady hands).

Might be a structural thing, but I know the GIANT ones that require a chain hoist and 2 people to manipulate have a lip for pouring

So I saw something interesting the other day. I was watching someone cast some brass (recycled from old brass plumbing fittings) and they added some glass (broken bottles from the hoppy goodness we all enjoy) to act as a “cap” to help prevent the loss of the zinc. Just before pouring they pulled the “cap” off using a graphite rod and because molten glass is a icky the whole cap came of clean. Mayhaps you could try this in a future melt?

Have you looked into getting a small vacuum chamber for your resin casts? It would eliminate the bubbles in the cast and should make the final product surfaces a bit smoother. Awesome content though!
