I like that brown tank top from the beginning and the tomato skirt was so cute.

I've been weeding out synthetic fabrics this year! Not just because of the breathability, but also because of the environment and the toxins absorbed by my skin. 100% cotton, flax, linen, silk, cashmere, wool, bamboo... these are my go-to's. Effortless screams old money aesthetic! (to me, anyway) Bravo on giving up sugar! It's been since 2011 for me. I do eat fruit- just no added sugars or sweeteners. My kombucha is made with cold pressed fruit juice and tea so I don't have to add sugar. I'm excited to see a Shelly Video every other day!!

Weeding out synthetic fabric is so touch. Yes to effortlessness. I’ll have to look into kombucha with cold pressed juice. Thank you!!

Quitting sugar is so hard cause it's in nearly everything in some form. But you will certainly feel better when you get off it. Good luck!

Thank you, BJ. You’re right. Sugar is everywhere.

The black skirt with the sleeveless brown linen top with the split in the back looks so cute and effortless on you! With some sandals would be awesome for spring/summer. The black sheath and the wheat-color shirt dress are so great!

Hooray for shorties! I'm an inch shorter than you are 😅. For the best non-refined-sugar sweet tooth fix, I can't recommend medjool dates more! They're a whole-food fruit high in fiber, so they won't have the same negative effects as refined sugar. Plus, they have selenium, magnesium, and other good stuff. They also taste amazing when paired with nuts and a little bit of sea salt. 😋

I'll have to try those dates! Thanks for the tip!

My husband and I have some health concerns and did a year long challenge this year to eliminate all ultra-processed food from our diets. Both of our bloodwork improved significantly. BUT… we have a stepson with us most of the time and he has dug his heels in on not eating vegetables and fruits. So we have a new food challenge for next year that will include him on cooking and trying recipes with one new ingredient each week. Like “leek week” or “kumquat week”. I look forward to it!

I'm so glad to hear about your success with that challenge!

That black skirt is wonderful! Natural fibers all the way-including not only clothing but bedding! I am always so uncomfortable under polyester blankets at hotels.

It takes so much effort to be effortless. 😂 That calls to mind the WB Yeats line from “Adam’s Curse”: “That beautiful mild woman… Replied, ‘To be born woman is to know - Although they do not talk of it at school - That we must labour to be beautiful.’” Looking forward to your December posts, and hearing about the no-sugar journey. We need it here too.

Long comment incoming…. 😬 Thrilled for the upcoming every other day videos! Fun for us but a lot of work for you! Loooved that orange dress and its 60’s vibe. Too bad it didn’t work out. The black dress you got is perfect. On the sugar thing. Good for YOU! I watched the documentary Fed Up in 2014 and followed it up with reading “Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us” by Michael Moss (HIGHLY recommend both) and immediately cut out all extra sugar from my diet. My cholesterol is always just over 200 and even up to 230 or so. The only time it was under 200 (I think it was about 190) was after being super strict on sugar. I fell off the wagon when Crumbl opened up in my neighborhood a few years ago. And yes, the cholesterol went right back up. I’m back on the “no added sugar or sweets”. That stuff is the 👹 😂😂

I appreciate your support and the sugar insights! I would Crumble with Crumbl too. Yum! I’ll definitely look into Salt Sugar Fat. Thank you!!! ❤️

Your outfits were adorable. I love the dresses that you bought and the pink one looked gorgeous on you. You have a beautiful figure. No need to worry! And when it comes to the “feeling smelly” thing, my college-aged daughter came up with a brilliant treatment that is safe. Get some Pan-Oxyl (benzoyl peroxide for body acne). It comes in a body wash either 4% or 10% strength and just use it on the areas that worry you in terms of scent. It kills the bacteria on skin that causes the odor. I tried it and even in the heat of the south, I could probably go without deodorant. ❤

Add a cinching belt to that skirt. And don't worry about being "effortful" I'm kind of effortfil myself. I got a strange compliement at church when one of the older parishioners said, "You and your fun fancy outfits!" That long black skirt is so a history-bounding look.

I wish I could try things on in the thrift stores in my area. They don't have dressing rooms. I tend to eat quite a bit of junk food when I house-sit. I need to scale back when I'm not.
@Shellyish3 күн бұрын
I hear you. That’s why I make it a point to only thrift when I can get into a dressing room.
