Bashkortostan is home to Russia's biggest ethnic minorities - Tatars and Bashkirs. The Bashkirs are a Kipchak Turkic ethnic group, indigenous to Russia and they speak Bashkir language, a close relative of the Tatar language. Once Bashkirs were nomadic and they were incorporated into the great Mongol Empire, but then they joined Russia! They traditionally practiced agriculture, cattle-rearing and bee-keeping. The nomadic Bashkirs wandered either the mountains or the steppes, herding cattle, and even now people identify strongly with their village and regard this as the main social unit.
I will show you the capital of Bashkortostan - Ufa and introduce you to the Bashkir national costumes, songs and dances. And, I will also introduce you to my Tatar family who lives in Bashkortostan!
📌elinabakunova.com/russianclub - Russian Speaking Club where you can practice the Russian language. Join us from any level ;)
📌 / @exsii205 - my brother's channel about cooking! Mansur the Chef :)
Time codes:
00:00 Welcome to Ufa! Where is Bashkortostan and who lives here?
01:56 Meet my crazy cousins (in Russian we call them sisters/brothers)
05:22 Ufa city center... or Times Square? 😱
07:25 Bashkir costumes, songs and dances 💃🏻
10:40 I've been a filmmaker since my childhood!
12:36 A promise that I will regret about 😁
13:27 Road trip to the village of my granny
16:06 A typical village in Bashkortostan

Yes - beautiful and humbling indeed. I just don't support the notion your comment is conveying. It's definitely not true that westerners generally are misjudging these people or any people in Russia or anywhere else for that matter. In the end we are all the same. Let us all be best of friends, learn from each other and be happy! Happy new year to you or anyone reading this!

No one is judging the people but rather the government. You also shouldn't be so negative to put down westerners they have done nothing wrong, never heard of them speak about these people or even know anything about this people. I myself from eastern Europe didn't know a lot of the stuff Eli shows and it is interesting. We can learn a lot about different cultures but it is also ok for those who do not accept the other cultures. People are allowed to not connected with every culture they see. Don't be cruel to others but not accepting to me is ok as well. I think accepting all cultures is a lie and what makes us forced to not have a say in things. Certain videos I have seen I do not agree with the culture at all, but the scenery is absolutely beautiful.

It is great to see the human side of Russia as a counterpoint to what we typically see in the American media. Your videos have such a positive and energetic feeling that is really enjoyable to watch and are quite informative. I appreciate that you have a neutral and open perspective that is focused on sharing your country's culture and day to day views of real people.

Hello from Saskatchewan, Canada. My great grandparents emigrated to Canada from Crimea, where they lived at the invitation of Katherine the Great to farm the land. They were there for about 80 years and left in 1876. We have grown to many thousands of people that came from Crimea living all across Canada and Paraguay and Mexico. I believe we all want to live at peace with Russia, despite our government. Kudos to the young Chef

Despite your government? There is peace with Russia once you submit and get annexed, becoming part of Russia. Your forefathers went to Crimea while the native Tatars were deported. That is how Crimea became majority Russian. It's called imperialism. That is how Russia became the biggest country in the world.

@@ElifromRussia We tried the feminist experiment in the USA, long before Russia & much of the world did & it has brought nothing but disaster. We now know, that our women were manipulated by the marxist control system & media, to believe that career, money, & being independent from men, would bring them true happiness. Now our women are suffering more than ever, with record alcohol & drug abuse, sleeping around, std's & a massive increase in divorce and suicide. The solution is simple but difficult to achieve in 2022. Life should be simple = AFTER MARRIAGE = men should work and earn the money for the family & women should stay at home & take care of their husband and offspring. Sex before marriage, is one of the worst ways to injure women & men. After thousands of years, this formula has worked successfully, & almost anything else will just bring (GREAT) unhappiness.

Eli I loved this video so much! It made me so happy I cried. I am a man, I don't cry. Such good people. Your cousin is so smart, pretty, happy, fun, ALIVE. She has such a pretty smile, but she has an even prettier but fun loving heart inside. Your whole family is so wonderful! I was/am a professional chef. Your little brother is off to a good start. I started in the Boy Scouts cooking over a camp fire on back packing trips. I had a reflector oven and made apple pies, pizza, AND Kabobs while hiking across the Sierra Madre Mountains. Never tell him he has arrived. Always tell him "keep practicing". Cooking is an exploration and an adventure. That is what makes it so fun. I am 78 but if you ever come to California I will take you on a backpacking trip across the High Sierra's and cook for you the best tasting food you have ever eaten. God bless you.

@@MrTravelWriter the only propagandist are the youtubers that fled because they are traitors to their country and paid by NATO and western European agencies. Let me say something, if one day the US are the aggressor and start to attack every country in the world and a US citizen youtuber making a video about just a daily life in some country sides in Kansas about her family, is that youtuber also a propagandist? If that so i can say that EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN youtube that exist right now are also a propagandist because all of them just filming their everyday life in US as if the US is a great and good country when in reality US army has invaded several country for decades now and destroyed Iraq, Syria, Libya and Afghanistan! Millions of people were dead, more than any dead Ukrainian now. How can you be so sure that "most of the independent Russian youtuber" are actually independent? If they were paid by someone who supported NATO doesn't matter common people or people from any government agencies in US or EU, then they are not independent because they too are working as a propagandist for NATO and western EU power. You cannot just call Eli a propagandist just because she is being patriotic to her homeland and country, if you wanna do that then you should also criticized all other youtuber that live in Europe and America who make videos about their homeland and country and just showing everything good about it when in reality everyone knows that America is a shitty country with hundreds of mass shooting every years. Russia is bigger than America, its more than double the size of America, if you dont people to generalized all American then you must do the same with Russian too. Most Russian dont even care what happened in other part of the world, they just working and trying to live their live their normal live.
