In this series I’m narrating events and miracles from the splendid life of Don Bosco. St John Bosco used to perform a miracle almost every day, through the intercession of Mary Help of Christians. From the lives of saints we can learn how to love God more and draw closer to him. Thank you

My grandfather was from Idra Greece, and when he was a little boy (in the 1930s mind you), he had met St. Nektarios with some friends when they were looking for some food/fishing. I believe that when they had caught some, they encountered him and gave him one. He only learned many years later that St Nektarios had passed away before he was born in 1920! A true miracle!
@Trisagionfilms2 жыл бұрын
how did they know it was him?
@josephsaab72082 жыл бұрын
@Trisagion Films well apprently it was my grandfather and his friends and cousins and they did it multiple times. They used to go fishing to get food. Years later my grandfather had seen a picture of him at church and said, "That is Saint Nektarios. I used to know him!" The priest at the church said that it was improbable because he had passed away, but my grandfather said it was him. I believe that some of his friends had seen him too on other occasions without him. I have heard that he would appear in his monastery as well after he passed away and frightened some of the women of the monastery by walking around at night.

WOW! That is all I can say! I am a new catechumen in the Church, and I found - due to this video - that St. Nektarios indirectly contributed to my conversion. One of my first introductions into Orthodoxy was hearing the 'Oh Virgin Pure' hymn. I first heard it in Greek, and was utterly clueless as to what was being sung; yet I was enraptured by its beauty. When I heard the narrator say that Nektarios wrote the words to the hymn, I felt chills rolling up my spine. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me! I am utterly unworthy, yet through His grace and by His mercy, I have hope in the Resurrection. St. Nektarios, please pray for me a sinner! I thank you deeply for your intercessions!

Same here, brother! I’m also a catechumen and my first real exposure to the Holy Orthodoxy which sparked any kind of an interest was the hymn O Virgin Pure. My Papou and Yiayia took my family to Aegina. My father is not a religious man although he grew up Orthodox. We had but an hour left, and would not be able to return to Athens if we missed the boat. My father had a sporadic and intense conviction to reach the Cathedral of St. Nektarios. My family was very stressed that we would miss our boat but he insisted that we go and threw us in a taxi to see the Cathedral. Something led him to believe that it was of utmost importance that we visit if only for a half hour. I remember its beauty vividly. When it was time to go, it was clear that we would not make it back in time and would remain on Aegina until we found the opportunity to return. The rest of our trip was on a strict timeline, and my Yiayia was convinced that my father had ruined the trip carelessly. I’ll never truly know what came over my father as he had no religious inclination to go. He knew little of Saint Nektarios, if anything other than it was the Cathedral of his namesake. The boat was late in its departure. Our trip continued along its timeline. I will forever be convinced that the Holy Spirit worked through my father to bring us an experience we would not forget, and that God intervened to delay the boat just as Saint Nektarios boat was delayed as a child. It was completely out of character for him. I could see in his eyes that something had come over him. We both felt extreme peace and had no worries whatsoever that our trip would be disrupted. It may seem like a small thing to others, but I will never forget this treasured memory. Thank you for this wonderful documentary. I pray for the well being of your Church and its parishioners in Marietta.

What a beautiful film. I'm a traditional Catholic and obviously, I'd never heard of St Nektarios. His holy life has a striking resemblance to St Pio of Pietrelcina who was also taunted and persecuted during his earthly life and by the Evil One. He is also incorrupt. Both of these holy men had a deep devotion to the Theotokos/Our Lady. Deo gratias for them. We need more like them now as the influence of the Evil One has increased and continues to increase. Kyrie eleison, Christe eleison, Kyrie eleison.

I'm also Italian, lapsed Catholic and I was not aware of St Nektarios. My mother is a huge devotee of Padre Pio and this saint ŕesembles him. Both persecuted in their lifetimes by men under the influence of Satan. I struggle with my faith and am more of a 'Thomas' always looking for proof and evidence , an active critical thinker. I'll be praying to both Saints to help me with my wavering faith during these challenging times where evil seems to reign and so many innocent people are suffering. God help us all.

Wonderful as always! The script and narrator as always are so reverent when instructing us on the lives of the saints. It was interesting to see pictures of the places where St. Nektarios lived and of the times in which he was there to give us, to help us, the viewers to better envision what it was like during that time period (of his life). The explanations of the history of the area were also so important to the story for proper context to be fully comprehended and understood. I liked how you only colored the particularly important parts of the drawings where St. Nektarios was in God’s presence for reverence and respect. This means a lot to me, as St. Nektarios has been so important to my family and me. St. Nektarios pray for us 💗🙏☦🕊

Why did all of the great recent Saints have to pass in the 20th century when we need them the most now?
@dudeB153 жыл бұрын
we have, we always have in every age. No canonized yet but the eyes of the soul know. One of them was elder Eprhaim of AZ who passed 2 years ago. God bless you brother.

It is through their life then that we can be changed now. We can be the fruits of their labour. The mystery of Sainthood.

There are living Saints now. We have to pray that God reveal them to us…. or that God direct us to them for guidance, without revealing all of their sanctity. I believe God often hides Saints while they are living for two reasons: 1). So we don’t put a living human on a pedestal and idolize them. All of the Saints, save Christ himself, were not 100% perfect. Even the Saints sinned at times… perhaps anger or judgmentalism or some other sin. That is why the Saints constantly repented. They knew, that despite any gifts or sanctity that God bestowed upon them, they also sinned. Some people weak in faith or knowledge, might be scandalized by a holy person whom they saw commit a small sin. 2). God may also hide a Saint’s holiness from the Saint himself, to prevent him being puffed up with pride. Never despair. God raises up Saints in every generation! Often we are too wrapped up in our lives to see or search for them, or we expect them to be 100% perfect in every way. Look at St. John of San Francisco! People around him judged him because of his appearance or mannerisms or his speech impediment. Some in San Francisco, filled with pride and evil, even took St. John to public court! Think of the thousands of people who didn’t recognize a living Saint in their presence!

This is amazing!! 🥲🥲 I’m a new catechumens and always play random chant playlists and I heard this beautiful song and kept it on repeat, recognizing the tune but hearing it for the first time in English. It was O Virgin Pure, this was just last night. And now I’m learning about this saint the next day by happenstance. Praise God so beautiful, what a holy man!
