Don't approach mountain lions, lol. We saw some big mountain lion tracks on a recent adventure. They usually attack from behind anyway so you never see it coming. Another great adventure story.

Wonderful video and story Gabriel. I love your hiking videos and stories. I once walked 34 miles in a single day, but the weather was dry and the terrain was not mountainous. By the way, you'd love a walk along the South Downs Way long distance trail in southern England- the hiking is similar to what you're doing in this video. There are definitely no mountain lions on the South Downs Way!

@GabrielTravelerVideos5 жыл бұрын
No, the story happened in 1996 when I was 24. The video footage in 2017 was a recent visit to the Lost Coast. I was using that footage to show what it looks like, since I didn't have any video or even photos from when I was there in 1996.

Hey Gabe, love your videos and travel stories. Been following you since 2016. Check out the wilderness coast of Washington state in Olympic National Park. There is almost 50 miles of roadless coast you can hike, and many do. You start just south of Neah Bay and finish at the Hoh River (Oil City). La Push, WA is the only place you can drive to the trail between these two points. Keep the videos coming. We love following your travels!

Watching those iconic golden California rolling hills in the background while you walked and talked ... you know there's gold in them thar hills ....Having spent my public school and undergrad years 1-16 in flat-as-a-pancake Illinois, I never get tired of looking at those hills - one of the things I loved most about living in Northern California for a year. Your Into the Wild story was borderline Chris McCandless-esque, with a happier ending (I laughed when u said u were in that truck before he finished his sentence). You definitely hear the beat of a different drummer, Gabe, and it's cool you tell your nomadic stories in a relatable fashion. I once went with my co-ed high school explorer group on a 10-day whitewater rafting trip down the Colorado River. We camped under the stars before hiking down into the Grand Canyon to start our voyage. That night we got drenched by a thunderstorm and our sleeping bags were totally soaked. We had to roll them up anyway the next morning, attach them to our equally much-heavier-than-normal backpacks, and hike down all day in the sweltering Arizona heat. But by the time we reached our first overnight camping spot by the raging river, again under the stars, our sleeping bags were completely dry.

The place where you mother lives called Ukiah where you presently are appears to be very scenic and full of good spots for plain-air painting for someone that likes not only hiking but art as well. Perhaps I should move there to California to stay warm and get away from the very cold Canadian winters. Be healthy and safe.
