A Winter's Ride along the Heart of Wales Line! I took an early morning train ride from Swansea to Shrewsbury, checking out the iconic Heart of Wales line for the first time.

I love the heart of wales line - not been on it for years. My father in law has a farm a few miles away from one of the stations - the last time I went, it was a single carriage train! They would stop for a few minutes at the station for cigarette breaks!

Lovely journey on the Heart of Wales line. TfW should retain some of the Class 156s for the Heart of Wales line unless they too are to be replaced by the Class 230, Class 231, Class 197 and Class 756.

This line is definitely on my top five favourites of railway lines in UK When I traveled on it I stayed at the youth hostel in Cnoghordy and walking from the request stop to the hostel was an adventure

It's going to be interesting when they get the active travel 153 units on the line. They will have storage for cycles and will tag onto the service 153's so you may end up with three 153's on the line. Keep your eyes peeled.

I travelled from Craven Arms to Llandovery and return. Beautiful views and although it was quite a lengthy journey, it was one of those rides that I wish could have gone on and on. Highly recommended.

the Heart of Wales line def looks like a nice scenic line to ride & i rode a few 153s on some slightly longer journeys in South Wales last year & i totally agree that the TfW staff are all very friendly & very helpful awesome vlog

The TfW staff are very friendly - and among them some very handsome young Welsh men too - I always manage to see at least one Welsh hottie, some serious eye-candy, as I’m always on hunk-watch when passing through Wales between Manchester and Holyhead on my way to/from Dublin, so I’m never disappointed - even the blond cutie on the Irish Ferries check-in 😂 ❤

Yes, it's a lovely line, and yes TfW staff are usually very friendly. But you were lucky to be on a train at all. The HoW has currently an awful rep for reliability. I know someone who tries to use it to get from Ammanford into Swansea to work and he's practically given up, so many cancellations. It's also as far as I know the ONLY TfW service not scheduled to get new trains in the next couple of years. Not always empty either, especially in the summer.

Stuff about the toilet is nonsense too. As long as there is an accessible toilet the other could be unlocked. Perhaps that's why you got two coaches!

I travelled the HOW over 2 days in October. I stayed in the same PI at Swansea Waterfront, thankfully my stay was quieter. I stopped at quite a few stations but my favourites were Knucklas for the viaduct, sugar loaf, Dolau which has a charming little waiting room and a visitors book, Pantyffynon, Bucknell and Llanwrtyd. The line is best enjoyed in daylight. You really missed out going so early.

Have you done the full Cardiff to Holyhead run in First Class on TfW? I know that they pass through the Heart of Wales line - the TfW staff are very friendly and on the Holyhead to Chester run, some of the Welsh TfW train conductors are rather handsome looking too ❤

August Bank Holiday each year, Llanwryted Wells hosts the annual Bog Snorkelling contest. And sorry to be a pedant, but Llandovery is pronounced Llanduvery. Llandrindod provides a link to the T4 Traws Cymru service from Cardiff to Newtown. Llan is Welsh for Church.

seem really quite funny watching you walk around Shrewsbury (my home town) i know you've been here afew times though but its just strange to see places i go passed fairly often,,, if you kept walking along the river the way you was going (presuming you stopped where did the closing piece) just a bit further there is a weir that you get samon trying to jump up if ya catch it at the right time, also when the river's fairly high i think its impressive because the water really bounces over it, its pretty cool
