When my husband and I were married, that evening we knelt by our fireplace and my husband prayed for a blessing on our marriage, he said, “ God we ask for your blessing and we know that many marriages do not last, it must sadden you”. At that moment without a word my husband said” did you feel that?” Yes I said, it was if a warm current went through me” He said the same thing. We’ve never felt that again, This was 62 years ago. I’m 80 years old now, my husband passed away last July. What happened has strengthened my faith I will never forget this. God truly wants marriages to survive. Thank you sir for your endeavors to teach us from the word.

What a wonderful way to begin your married life together. It will be 50 years this November for us. It has been difficult at times and wonderfull at times. Many people think they should be happy always. I personally believe that if one can be content throughout their marriage then they have done well. God bless you. I hope we can meet in heaven one day.

This is so helpful to me. I was married 3 years ago at the age of 50, and I was married before at 17 for less than 2 years. I knew how to be a mom, but not a Godley wife. It's very difficult, but I do want to please the Lord and this instruction is so helpful!

Hi Letty. I agree with your statement. Checkout Dr. RC Sproul's lecture on 'Obeying God or Man'. Excellent. R.C says the times to not obey your husband is when he wants you to be part of a sinful act. God commands wives to obey Him and say no to our husband's sin. I don't feel guilty saying no when I put God first. Bless you sister.

The more I delve in to God's plan for marriage, the more I realize how the world has messed it up, and how much the world concept of marriage has affected me negatively. I need to get rid of the bad habits, and ungodly ideas of marriage that the world has taught.

Letty Guerra The world does love to twist scripture for its own purpose, that's for sure. I took vows of "love, honour & obey" 20 years ago...my friends were absolutely aghast. I tell everyone who brings it up that the "obey" is not a single command - it is *half* of one. For God's plan to work, my husband first has to obey God, put my needs before his, etc. No where in the Bible am I ever called to be a doormat for my husband to abuse, take advantage of or otherwise treat poorly. It is not always easy, but it is completely worth it ❤. I am loved & cared for. I am an equal partner in my marriage. And God is amazing. God bless you both 😊
