And if perhaps in the alternative timeline they figured out a way to fully not rely on gasol to power, well, power plants, there's a myriad of other branching "but"s that will include fire in one way or another just so it "makes sense". Fire is just that integral to society despite it's roles seemingly being small on the surface nowadays.
