Having the reputation of the good kid is an amazing tool. It allows you to make change without being labeled as anything bad. I started a grade wide protest against a rule I had in 7th grade regarding assigned lunch seats. The popular kid and I teamed up, because she knew I was going to have my concerns taken seriously. While she did the petitioning, I did the negotiating. It ended up working.

I'm not necessarily the "good kid", but I've always been a mix between class clown and teachers pet. So I make funny remarks and jokes on the lessons but was a minimal disturbance and got my work done. This certainly came in handy with my P.E. teachers, I did what I was told and tried my best but I had rivalries with some of the boys in that class, so everything they'd come and pick a fight I'd fight back and the teachers called out the boys. It really does pay to be on the teachers good side

I need tips I’m starting a petion to unban the word gay/gae yes IT IS BANED ON OUR COMPUTERS so far it seems we have a lot of homephopic beoches
@HelloIamCloudy2 жыл бұрын
@@lizzykatieschindele6265 Is it a popular provision among the students? If so, sign either: a. Not nearly everyone, but a fair amount really quickly. This is what I did, but I wouldn’t aim for it, because it is very risky if things don’t go your way. We got 1/3 of the grade within one day. Play to emotions when convincing them. No kid likes school, use this to convince them. b. Nearly everyone. As many as possible. Get others to spread the petitions on your behalf. People in middle and high school will listen to their friends. When you feel confident you have enough, or enough per time since you started, go to the dean/principal/whatever. If you are not a frequent flier of suspensions, detentions and/or haven't been expelled before, and you have done it right (you should do this with as little teacher involvement as possible), they should take your concerns seriously. If you are a frequent flier, get someone, preferably a debate champion or teacher’s pet, to argue on your cause’s behalf. When making your case, do NOT play to the same emotions as students. This will make them get defensive. What you want to do is allow yourself to seem as innocent as possible. A couple of “I don’t intend to be disrespectful, but…” followed by something not conceivably offensive in any way shape or form should do the trick. Show them your petition. Make your points, and DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT get mad if it is not going your way. If the law isn’t changed, you can either do one of two things: A. Organize; for your petition should have had enough support to go to the dean anyway, and the student body should thus be inclined to follow through with the rule. Be maliciously compliant if possible. Your example is people banning “gay”, right? Use gya, or something. Class clowns and popular people come in very handy at this point. It should spread to the student body. The hope here is that it becomes such a hassle to deal with, they change the rule in question, or over-regulate themselves into oblivion. If they crack down, do not get scared, because class clowns will be used to it, for one, and, if there exists a true unity among the student populous, keep going, for they can’t suspend or detain everyone. B. Go further beyond the student body. Get as many parents and school board members as possible on board. Possibly even the superintendent if necessary. It is very hard to imagine that a unified student body, who is persistent enough to complain to the superintendent, but also respectful enough to not allow themselves to be completely radicalized in opposition, would be completely shut down. But if all else fails, you will have tried, and if they knock you down hard enough, invariably cases of bad behavior will spike anyway. For it is in their best interest to take you seriously, because if they shut a unified body, down, this will only work to strengthen resolve amongst the students. However, if you went for strategy a. of petitioning above, you may not have that unity. So, in summary. Get as many students involved, then go to the dean, talk respectfully and logically. If they shoot you down, be maliciously complaint (this works best for strategy a. of petitioning) or, if the support for method b. of petitioning is there, get as many teachers, parents, school board members etc. to fight for you as you can. Remember to always be respectful, and good luck. 👍

My elementary school had a rule where you couldn't wear anything with the name or logo of a cigarette or alcohol brand. My brother was deployed overseas with the military. I should have asked him to bring me back a T-shirt in Arabic or Japanese (he was stationed in Japan and Bahrain most of the time) with the name of a beer or cigarette company from one of those countries. This was the early 90's pre internet and no one would have been any wiser. A lot of kids at that school had deployed older siblings or cousins who brought them things in different languages. I could have told them "Oh, my brother said "Kirin" is just a soda pop company that's popular over there in Japan". It was a rural school practically in the middle of nowhere in the early 90's, fresh out of the 80's with no internet access so the teacher couldn't punch in "Kirin" and find out it's actually a Japanese liquor.

I was one of those good kids who got away with breaking the rules 😈 In the UK it's 99.9% uniforms, and in my school everything HAD to be the issued branded clothing from a specific shop. No makeup, no dyed hair, girls wore skirts, blah blah blah. Very uncomfortable and very expensive. Well, not only did I refuse to wear skirts, I also wore trousers that were... gasp! *Not standard issue*! As in, my mum got so pissed at the needless cost that she joined my crusade and just bought standard navy dress pants from the department store, as well as fitted business blouses too instead of the baggy, ill-fitting monstrosities at the shop. Cheaper and ironically looked way better. She also taught me makeup that was very subtle: brown mascara, pale pink eyeshadow etc. This being the early 2000s where the fashionable makeup was bright orange and ladled on with a trowel. I even tinted my hair redder with one of those 'wash out in two weeks' kits. I was a little ginger rebel! But yeah, one day my form tutor pulled me aside and I finally thought I was going to get it, but she just smiled and whispered that she knew I was breaking the rules, but not only was she gonna let my non-issue clothing slide but actually thanked me for wearing makeup that matched my skin tone. And that was it for the rest of the school year. The only rule I hadn't broken was the need for a blazer and tie, and they didn't care 😅

All these stories about dress codes, while I didn't have them. I lived in the Netherlands, where you get "just don't wear nazi or super offensive things". Showing up in the shortest pants you could find and a tank top during summer was fine. I guess because it was only warm enough to wear those 2 days a year. Maybe also because we did not have air conditioning, just radiators and windows. We all had to go by bike as well, so if you don't freeze or sweat to death, really anything was fine. 9 months a year I would wear scarfs and boots, just like all other girls. Sometimes 2 scarfs.

My middle school banned all colors. You could only wear solid black and/or white. Your glasses have red frame? Go get black or white frames. You're wearing a nice piece of jewelry? Make sure it's silver or black. No gold colored jewelry allowed. Want to paint your nails? Only if it's clear. Photographer asks school to allow students to wear natural colors to better complement with the backgrounds. Nope, everyone was forced to wear black or white. This last one was what made them get rid of it and for good reason. Your gym teacher catch you wearing colored underwear? You will get scolded, but they will turn a blind eye. One girl was on her period and one of the female teachers who was PSYCHOTICLY strict with the rules, walked in, saw her and reported her because her pad leaked and there was a bit of red on her panties. The principal was going to expel her when her parents contacted the school board. The principal was fired and a regular dress code was instated for the following year.

I can actually relate with having to pick my own outfit, whenever my family and I are going somewhere, even the simplest of places, my mind overthinks on what I should wear as if I’m going to a party and it’s actually kinda annoying. But the funny thing is I only overthink on the weekends and not on the weekdays when I have school.

I also overthink what I'm going to wear when going places. I personally love having my clothes in a specific color pallet or a specific theme, it's to the point where I'll bring a fidget toy or some other item just because it matched my outfit. I still don't quite know why I do this, possible reasons being: I'm just a very detail-oriented person, character design is something love doing (and one of the only things I'm good at when it comes to drawing), the inate human desire to have things look nice, maybe a confluence of all these factors? Who knows... (sorry this got so long btw)

One time I had a dance event in my school and everyone in my class had to wear back shorts for the performance. I got called out because me short was too short, keep in mind that that was a dirty lie they were the exact same length as everyone else MY LEGS ARE JUST LONGER. A teacher had the audacity to tell me that the dance was in a college auditorium so college kids would cat call me. I just said that it was not my fault and if legally adult men started cat calling a 15 year old I was pretty sure we could get the police involved, I was written up, not for the shorts but for being a smart ass.

About the beginning: yes, imaginary audiences are usually fake, but there have been situations where I was being judged very audibly and next to be without mentioning my name. Either way, I don't really care in the grand scheme if that one girl thinks I'm weird, and I don't really mind the rest of the school either, its the teachers and authority figures I fear. So many of them are either connected to another factor of my life (family, church, etc) or seemingly controlled my future (njhs or other extremely important grades), so I never felt like I could be authentic because one move that one person in the chains doesn't agree with and I take a harsh tumble to the bottom. This, of course, is imaginary, but it doesn't stop the weight from feeling crushing.

At my school, we are not allowed to wear anything that shows our shoulders, ect, because it can “be distracting” *It is an all girls school* EDIT: yes, there are lesbians (I’m bi lmao). But I obviously didn’t get my point across, and I looked at the dress code, and it says it might distract BOYS. BOYS. MALE TEACHERS.
