Little tip if you have the node wrangler add-on (ships with blender by default) if you ctl+shift+click a shader node it will isolate that effect and display it on your mesh, saves creating extra trees for testing or this this case demonstrating effects or using the emmission node, just ctl-shift-click see how your noise looks then Ctl-Shift-click to see its effect with all other nodes. Great content as always ;)

Awesome tutorial cbailey! i feel like i was following it quite well but my wave texture doesn't seem to move and when i was doing the gradient thing it was just shifting left to right and that's all
