Hi Marshall, love your channel. Your channel made get interested in vintage watches and watch repair. I find myself in a very stressing situation now. I recently acquired a Seiko bellmatic. I noticed the dial had some dust on it, so I wanted to clean it up. I was having difficulties removing the alarm button and thought that maybe the rotor was in the way of a lever. However, when I tries to remove it, I instead removed the screws of alarm plate and bump the wheels out of place. I believe fixing it goes far beyond my ability. I was wondering if you would be interested on it. I have asked watch repair places and they are not interested in working on it since it's a vintage watch.

You should not watch these videos as educational. He has terrible habits and sometimes just straight mistakes that would never pass quality control at either a basic watchmaking school or service center. Hobbyists are just that. They do it for fun, but its not of any quality.

These days I cant find anyone to change the battery in my watch! So much for Sears watch repairs!! The other day, I found a clock my mother had that had a boy and a girl swinging in it! It didn't work, so I replaced the end on the cord and "works like a charm!" Brought back fond memories!!!!

I love the fact you often start replacing a screw by going in the 'wrong' direction initially to get the thread to align correctly. Shows great mechanical 'sympathy' and aligns with your other mechanical history. I was hoping you would send it back and hope the young recipient of it appreciates it and bookmarks this video. Always a pleasure to watch. It is unusual today that anyone will watch a 46-60 minute video but I find these mesmerising. Well done.

We use this method in hanging TVs when we’re using snaptoggle drywall anchors, because if you misthread it it will break the apparatus off in the wall and will waste you several minutes cause then you have to take the whole bracket down and redo them… it was really cool to see him do it and kind of catch that, cause I used to be the least mechanically inclined person in the world before I started doing home theater install work and learned a ton of stuff and interesting to see other pros use some tricks of the trades.

The fact that you have the ability to show your audience a process that is very tedious and frustrating to many, all the while showing us how to handle each unique situation with the patience and grace that such situations require. Out of all the watches you come across, what is your daily wear? I still rock my great great grandfather's 1917-18 rolex. He lived to 95 and gave it to me when I turned 8. I know I shouldn't daily it but all I have to do is look at my wrist to know the time accurately and remember what he went through to be able to even give it to me, he was an incredible man and I'm blessed to have a constant reminder of what he endured in ww1. Keep keeping the past alive for more generations!

Recently found your channel and I am really enjoying what you do. I retired in 2008 and I had a job where I had to keep track of the time that certain tasks were performed, and note that in a journal. On the day I retired I took off my watch and put it on the handlebar of my motorcycle. I eventually sold that motorcycle and I insisted the watch go with it. I inherited a Doxa just like this one from my father in 2020. He wore it so often that the dial turned a copper brown color. I always thought that the brown color was how the watch was made it is so beautiful. When I had it serviced the watchmaker told me that it originally came in a white linen color, and also that the watch likely had not been serviced in 40-50 years; sounds just like my dad that he didn't bother to service his daily wear watch. After servicing the watch it runs great; I now wear it only for special occasions.

I was born 2/2/1950. I am amazed at what you do with old watches. I love them. I have an old Gruen I purchased because Connery wore one in the first two Bond movies. I am frightened to touch the inside of it as you do. It still runs. Great show.

I have wanted a Seiko Automatic 7002 since i first saw it as a young kid in the early 90's, recently purchased a second hand one and watching your videos i now understand the quote to have it serviced from the watch maker. The service is costing more than what i paid for the watch.
