Please note about the torn NC (Non connected) pads that came off when wicking the chip, at one point in time, that chip was extremely hot for who knows how long. The adhesive on those pads were severely degraded from being that hot, and as a result, they came right off. This was unavoidable regardless of who was doing the repair, and is of no consequence to the longevity of the chip or system board, nor does it imply a inferior repair.

Hi mate, those pads came off when you wicked it, nothing to worry about this can happen. Your iron is too cold when you clean the pads, not sure what station you using, try hoof tip next time, for me, it is the best tip for cleaning bga. Thanks for the tip with the glass, much apricate it!

@@BTNE_Videos The Iron wasn't too cold... They were NC pads, and they come off so easy on the PMICs on these boards. I usually use around 740*F..

@@TCRSCircuit It does look like the iron is struggling a bit, but that's just my observation :) I think that tip you've used in the video was losing too much heat. I use 660F and even on a cold board can glide without any solder drags. Just wanted to be helpful. As for the pads, a little pressure and heat from the iron can easily lift NC pads, like I said not a problem. I've tried your tip with glass, my glass cracked also balls were getting squashed, to be honest, I am giving up completely on stencil and paste, it's not accurate enough, prefer hand reball and every ball is perfect level, no second guesses. Anyway thanks for the nice content and keep up with the good work!

If I were practicing this career, I'd spend a lot of time watching Erkin at HDD Recovery doing virtually anything, but specifically reballing. Then, after your self image recovers a bit, try to reach his level of straightforwardness.

As I always say, my way may not be the best way, but it works. What specifically was wrong with what I did on this board?

Keep in mind that this chip was hot enough to melt its own solder at one point due to the short that all the adhesive on the NC pads was practically non existent if that's what you were referring to.

Thanks for the tip about drying out solder paste Tim, wet paste sucks bad for reballing. The glass sheet approach is also something that I'll be trying.

I really like the way you present the information in your videos. I currently mostly do iPhone repairs but I'm looking to expand into macbooks in the future once my customer base expands and I have funds to do so. Thanks and you have my respect for life!!

If it stays at 20v 0A would this be an indication of corrupt T2 chip ROM?

Almost looked like a small solder ball in the lower left corner of the chip after it shifted into place there.

likely too small to cause issues

Rewatched the video, that solder ball was present prior to heating the chip, likely stuck on the side during reflow. Absolutely 0 concern there.

Funny every one of macbook I ever owned has broken down for various reasons, not one iMac has ever broken down. You now know why Apple is updating macbooks so often but not iMac. Service is great profit stream.

Had three things I was wondering about and I realized the answer to all of them while rewatching parts of the video or while writing the comment. Guess I'm just praising a reduction in the california hobo population then xD Or maybe some Wagner heat gun fanboy assaulted you with a shaver :P
