I started carnivore Monday and I am loving it! I'm obese and diabetic , my gallbladder was removed couple years ago and I have fatty liver disease. I haven't been able to eat beef in years and very little other meats. I have been stuck on trying a vegan, a vegetarian and keto and all failed and I was horribly sick. I have only ate steak and eggs all week and I feel FABULOUS! I haven't weighed myself but I can feel it in my clothes already. I can not digest veggies or grains at all. I haven't had any gas or bloating all week. I thank The Most high above for stumbling onto your youtube!

Oh yes! I remember the feeling of wellness and contentment I developed after the first few days of meat and eggs. It was quite overwhelming to experience the absence of pain and discomfort. Some days are not quite so great, as your body adapts and heals, just remind yourself that the process is continuing when you stumble or get stuck. Cheering for you!

I have FH and have had a stroke even though I lost weight. I think my CAC score of 117 is due more to over 60 years of eating too much sugar and highly processed foods. A little afraid to go full out carnivore, but def feel comfortable eating more beef, butter, and eggs, but still eat a lot of fruits and and non-starchy vegetables. It’s been easier to set a “bright line” about not eating “foods” that include added sugar, grains, and/or seed oils, but am still hesitating about going full carnivore. Is it possible that this kind of eating (carnivore) is better for the majority of people, but maybe not for me? I’m focusing on eating more fatty fish, but don’t like it yet.

My doctor slowly explained to me why i need certain tests done (all age related,67 yrs old) and seemed to know ahead of time i was going to say no to all of them. He looked so sad, almost as if he regretted even having to ask me but there was a new assistant with him he was training. He asked me twice a year ago if ive had my jab. I said nope dont need it! So the last visit he asked/recommended that i have a bone density test, mammogram, shingles and a shot for old people pneumonia. I said no thanks to all. The exception being my cholesterol and she once again recommended going on statins which I politely refused. A cardiologist would want me on statins even tho I'm considered a low risk for heart disease. Go figure. All I can say is thank you Dr. Berry. I started a rather rough journey back in February this year. I had a boil that turned into septic shock on me. I ended up being taken to the hospital with a blood sugar level of 1099 and my ac1 was at a 12. After I was brought back down and recieved surgery I was given the news that I was type 2 and told how to maintain my problem. Man I was lost and I found you and a few others that helped guide me. I switched to very clean meat and good fat diet with a few vegetables here and there and cleaned up my whole diet and started 12-14 hour fasting and I went from 289-197 in 5 months. My ac1 is sitting at a 4.8 and my resting blood glucose is at 80. I no longer take the insulin or the metformin. You helped me through this scary and lost part of my life and just wanted you to know that you are making a difference and you helped me find my way. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS.

It's like you tell a child don't touch the hot stove.. they won't listen until they experience it. Yes, everybody probably knows that sugar and ultrproc food is bad but they probably don't know how bad it really is, they need to have a key experience to turn around. It doesn’t have to do with discipline. You need to give people a reason to change which is not communicated by today's health standards. For me it was wearing a continuous glucose monitor more like for fun and then starting to dig for answers to my questions about the data. I came across Dr Lustig and fell into the rabbit hole. I was shocked about the stuff I had no clue about, and same applies to probably most everybody

It's a bad theory based on a poor usage of the scientific method. No one except God was there in the beginning. He told us what he did. I used to believe in evolution and called myself an atheist. But when I got better information I realized that the Bible was way more accurate than all of that stuff I was taught. None of the scientists that promote an old age of the universe and evolution were there in the beginning. And none of the methods that they use to extrapolate into the past are accurate Beyond a few thousand years. Which is what the Bible says about the age of the earth. Approximately 6,000 years.

Both doctors agreed there was evolution but Dr Bickman said no evidence. What neither said was the complete lack of evidence for macro evolution. Very short version my view. There are two types of evolution. Micro (adaption. Real) and macro (change from one kind to another. False). The chimp has 70% DNA a banana has 50% DNA. Macro Evolution is a Hypothesis not a theory. God did not use macro evolution, that would mean there was un living, illness, disease, osteoarthritis and tumours, before man arrived. At the same time it negates the death of a man on a cross. If God used macro evolution then He introduced sin NOT man, Which means we do not need Jesus to save us, we are innocent victims. Which we are not.

I managed my son's type 1 diabetes for several years, and in the case of type 1 diabetes, you know that the insulin you use is what's required to manage the total daily effects of food. I started him on a very carb controlled diet at about 25% carbs (30 grams 3x per day) and about 60% fat. He had to use about 1 unit of insulin for every 6 grams of carbs he ate at a meal, or about 5 units per meal x 3, and also basal insulin about 8 units a day. On a suggestion of a high carb type 1 diabetic researcher, I tried a 75% carb diet for 10 days. Within 3 days I had to reduce his insulin to 1 unit per 15 grams of carbs. His basal insulin also dropped a little. This happened gradually over 3 days though. Note that his total daily insulin requirements were the same, even though the insulin for a given number of carb grams was greatly reduced. When he returned to the 25% carb diet it also took about 3 days to go back to his old carb ratios. Now, it does demonstrate that muscles will load up on fatty acids or on glycogen depending on what is present. The 25% carb diet produced less variability in blood sugar, and particularly less risk of low blood sugar and lower peak blood sugar that occurred later. This also shows that insulin resistance should be based on insulin required to manage total energy expenditure. Some high carb advocates point to the fewer carbs covered by a unit of insulin and refer to it as insulin resistance, but on a total food basis there was no change. However, also note that low carb diets don't require LESS daily insulin than high carb diets. The exception would be that if the high carb diet pushes blood sugar up faster, it might result in hypersecretion of insulin which may also result in lower lows, and an increase in counter-regulatory hormones like cortisol, adrenaline and glucagon, so high carb might require a little more insulin because people hyper secrete, but carbs don't tend to do this if they are consumed around activity. Also the lowest insulin requirements occurred when switching from high fat to high carbs, but the lowest occurred in the 3 days switching from high carb to high fat. Overall, low carb/high fat lowers peak spikes after meals, raises baseline blood sugar, raises fasting insulin slightly, and reduces the overall range on the high and low end, but has no effect on total daily insulin exposure unless enough fast carbs are consumed to cause high spikes which result in hypersecretions, hypoglycemic trending, and stress hormone counter regulation. Oh, and one more thing, "slow, low GI carbs" like al dente pasta and legumes required 1.5-2.0x as much insulin to manage relative to their carb content than other carb sources, and extended over 6-12 hours. They seem to stimulate the release of liver glycogen as they pass through the intestines, so low GI carbs are probably the worst for total insulin exposure.

I just watched a Tucker Carlson video the other day, in it he had a couple guests who told that Big Foods is now owned by Big Tobacco and is backed by Big Pharma. And in the 90’s they started using ultra processed foods and getting people addicted to sugar and carbs. It got me thinking about tobacco as a former smoker, how incredibly addictive it is. It also made me think what if, in a lab somewhere, they created a variation of a plant, say wheat for instance, that had the properties of tobacco and wheat so once the person ate it caused them to crave it? Or even sugar cane? Like a hybrid plant? I know when I ate a lot of processed foods it almost felt like something was alive in my stomach that made me crave more, I almost thought I had worms or something. If a Big Tobacco company is making all these bad foods I would not be surprised.

Exactly what Dr. Bickman describes as “metabolic derangement” has happened to me, big time!! My internal medicine doctor pussy-footed around “watching” my glucose for years, until suddenly the fasting glucose shot up, and she finally took an A1C test and it was 8.1!! I was suddenly diagnosed with Type II diabetes and was put on Metformin (classic case!). I immediately cut out carbs and brought my A1C down to 5.3 in a few months’ time - but the damage is done to my pancreas! I asked for a fasting insulin test the next bloodwork, and it was (ready for this?) 96!!!! I asked what we do about that, and she looked at me and said “I can put you back on Metformin.” Since that’s all she had to offer, I did it. But I feel like the medical system has completely failed me! My fasting insulin is down to 56 on last bloodwork. Ugh!

C victims of the past 4 years were more likely to survive C if they had a higher than normal LDL. Those with what Drs say have normal LDL were more likely to PASS. You also need Vitamin D tablets & K2. Our skin does not absorb the suns rays very well the older we get. LDL does not cause heart attacks high Insulin does. Give it a good few years everyone will regret consuming a food type that's not meant for humans. Professional herbalists do not use meat to heal the body they use herbs which heals everything wrong. It's not meat that has healed you it's the stopping of consuming bad foods which gives your body type mass inflammation because you replaced it with meat. People don't know how to listen to their bodies. Too much protein destroys kidneys and reduce lifespan.

I'm a long term type 2. I was diagnosed around 17 or 18 YO. With LAD then they said type 1.5. Ultimately I'm type 2. Especially now. My insulin resistance levels are oddly low. Especially for a diabetic. C peptides are 1.1 . The very low end of normal. That was the cut off range. But no antibodies. I currently take 15 units long acting insulin a day. No meal time because I keep it low carb. Without insulin. I run a little high. Despite diet. However, my doctors will not retest my fasting insulin, Homo IR or anything other than A1C. I specifically asked and they thought I was crazy. They are one of two clinics that take my insurance. Both garbage. ...So even as a diabetic with CKD at 36, they don't run full panel labs. They keep saying only A1c matters. They also push ace inhibitors as a preventative and medications like O regularly. They even tried to get me to take insulin and O at the same. It's ridiculous. And they hate the fact that I'm low carb. Or animal base. I'm very upset that they refused to run additional labs because I was worried about the insulin making my triglycerides in cholesterol higher and reducing my C peptides further, since I was barely making the low end of normal before I started insulin again. The fact that they refused to test makes me wonder if the insulin is making me worse. My A1C is better but everything else is worse. Especially the 50lbs I gained. I went from 110 as my lowest to 167 my highest averaging about 160. I'm only five two. And the doctors think my weight is fine. I've never been by the book diabetic from a western medicine perspective. When I was diagnosed I was an elite gymnast with a full-on eight pack and 110 lb. My labs never showed antibodies but I was never really a typical type two. My old endocrinologist just called me an anomaly. Even just taking one or two units of fast acting insulin sends me dangerously low. In high school I ended up having a seizure because of low blood sugar due to insulin so I stopped taking it for over a decade. That's why I probably have chronic kidney disease because my A1C was averaging about seven. Now it's closer to the low end of the two but I'm struggling with side effects from the insulin. However my blood sugar gets slightly elevated at night regardless of what I eat. But it's clear that getting back on insulin is damaging my health. I gained 50 lb and now have high blood pressure along with the same A1C I typically have which is about 6.2. It's not ideal but that's as low as I can get it. On or off meds. My best guess is an old specialist I had was correct He said sleep apnea and my hormonal imbalances were causing my cortisol and adrenaline to spike at night and I was waking up with elevated fasting blood sugars. Which was giving me higher the normal A1C's. Between those years of not having proper diagnosis and all the medications I used to be on probably caused real diabetes. At one point I was also on steroids for possible autoimmune issues and no one even thought to take me off the steroids to see if my blood sugar normalized They immediately started me on diabetic meds and called me a diabetic at 17 years old. My whole heart it believes the pharmaceutical industry my doctors gave me diabetes. Continue to make it worse. I also don't seem to respond to oral diabetic meds even when I was first diagnosed. When I was younger I was able to exercise and keep my A1C around 6 and avoid meds against medical advice. However once I hit perimenopause my blood sugar is extremely hard to get under control. I'm still about 80 to 120 on average. And spikes if I eat carbs which I avoid. But between 1:20 and 1:30 is probably standard for me off of insulin. I'm just confused and I feel like the more I follow Western medicine the worst they made me

Sweet girl… you have to get away from those doctors! Your 2 different doctors clinics are keeping you as a “customer” by keeping you sick! If you were my daughter I would recommend that you find a doctor who will help you help yourself and not just give you meds and send you on your way. A doctor that is interested in helping you find your path for healing. From what you shared it’s my understanding that these clinics are keeping you unwell. I wish you the best of luck and please don’t be afraid to ask these doctors for proof and or a copy of the study done where they got their information… put them on the spot to show proof AND when you ask again for specific tests and they deny you please tell them that you would like it noted in your chart that you requested additional tests and they denied you of those tests AND THEN tell them that you’d like a copy of your full medical record before you leave the office. That’s your right! Remember, your doctor works for you and you can question them… Dr. Berry would remind you that doctors are just “dudes and chicks” and they aren’t magical. Stand up for yourself and get your answers… 💪🏼

I am in a similar boat as you. Long time T2 where I eventually went Keto then carnivore. However the lowest A1C I was able to achieve is only 5.7. The last several years I am seeing my A1C slowly climb and the last one(Feb of this year) was up to 6.4. However my doctor has no issue running whatever Labs I ask for, since he doesn't. I get Fasting Insulin and C-Peptide every year. Like you my C-Peptide is in the lower ranges but my Fasting Insulin is also in the lower ranges. Generally most of my Labs show I am NOT insulin resistant. HOMA-IR, Trig/HDL ratio, etc. I finally went to an Endo this past week for further testing for antibodies which the doctor said was a possibility. Still waiting for test results. My Endo ordered a whole bunch of Labs especially C-Peptide after giving me a piece of candy. Said the Fasting Insulin may not be as accurate as C-Peptide or something like that. I might be T1.5/LADA but unsure at the moment. Sounds like you need to change doctors. If in USA you can order your own Labs. Luckily my new Endo uses the same Lab, LabCorp, as my doctors office. I have an account with them and can view my labs from way back to 2016. Also one of things we have learned in the low carb world that, especially for Type 2 diabetics, the worse thing you can do is take insulin. That is if you are a true Insulin Resistant Type 2 diabetic. That may be why you are gaining weight taking extra insulin. You also might consider trying a CGM so you can monitor your blood glucose more closely. I am currently wearing the Libre 3 which I pay for myself since insurance won't currently pay.

For slightly high a1c, I thought Paul Mason's recommended test of reticulocytes was spot on. As long as a low number is not accompanied by other indications of a pathology like anemia, it will support/confirm a lower demand due to slower turnover -- ie longer-lived red blood cells!

Are you saying a lower RBC on a riticulocyte count might me normal? If RBC count is low, would HCT and HGB be low as well?
@robertphillips93
@robertphillips93 22 күн бұрын
@@MK-ft3qt Mason's method is to test reticulocytes -- if that's low, and no pathology is otherwise indicated, the indicated cause will likely be low demand due to increased red blood cell longevity. Don't know if he has been able to verify the strength of this association by independent tests. Ken has a fairly recent discussion with him in one of his videos. FYI, my a1c was 5.7 when last checked, so my 5+ years of ketovore has done a great deal of good for this 73 yo carcass, and I'm going to credit lower senescence of red blood cells, as well as better skin!

I do believe Bart is a good scientist, but he isn't the "best" and the "smartest" scientist he portrays in his youtube channel reaction videos. Both have very educational info, but the person who you put your trust in is where the disagreement between the two will be irrelevant. Ben has more scientific experience in the Randle Cycle than Bart has, so his disagreement would be unfounded, unfortunately. The two gentlemen don't need to debate it would only bring a negative view to the people who "think" is wrong. Interesting discussion in particular about the fact that fructose will not give any indication of A1c!!! However, the discussion about sugar replacement was a bit one-sided since you didn't mention the fact that substitute sugars/sweet taste can continue to drive the addiction to sugar/carbs which is something that I lived myself for many many years. Going carnivore and completely cutting out substitutes (and dairy) has been the only way my cravings have subsided. Not disappeared completely because the environment - cues and triggers me still from time to time. Hard to escape all the sugar/carb outlets even if I don't enter!!!

I think they’re being realistic about sweetener usage, because as they related, they now know SMELLING the sugar or sweetener items INDUCE a BRAIN response. The Drs understand it is an addiction, the brain expects & wants the glucose because it has been exposed, trained to accept it, due to the effects on the brain.

That is one area where I disagree with both doctors and have given reasons. Short version, Why I don't believe in macro evolution.

As a Christian nurse who has studied world religion and science vs religion, I love that question and did tons of projects, papers, and research for it in college. It is a confounding gray area for sure. However, I have taken the stance that they go hand in hand. For instance, because of different types of scientific structures we can prove things that are biblical. As for that specific question, I still think it's a matter of both. I know many religious people and scientists disagree but, through research, it is my opinion that humans and animals have been proven to come from a similar blue print. So, it would reason that we can come from a higher divine being but still have went through some of those evolutionary changes scientifically.

They say I'm old (74) and my body is changing. I'm having a private falling apart party. I want to eat right to get the most from my food and money. I have no idea. I'm not really a diet person. I have COPD, asthma, high blood, degenerative disc disease, and failing kidneys, just to name a few.

So some research with Dr Berry, Low Carb Down Under, Dr Eric Westman, Dr Chris Knobbe and other experts on keto/carnivore on KZbin. Give a very low carb or carnivore diet a try for two weeks and see what happens. It’s only food rather than a medication with potential side effects. Good luck!

Very interesting. When I finally self diagnosed as official T2D - highest MORNING (dawn effect?) fasting glucose 150, highest post meal 196, I immediately started significantly lowering carbs. In about 1 month my weight dropped a good 20 lb, my A1c was 6.1( last one was several years ago, was in the high 5s, but don't recall exactly) and morning/fasting blood sugar was 128( still not great, but better than 150 at least). Also, several months ago my triglycerides were 177, and after 1 month of low carb they fell to 85. At the same time, my 1st ever fasting insulin was 10("normal" range 2.5 to 25). It has now been 2 months. ( I have not yet ever taken any diabetes meds) My pre-supper sugars have been between 87 and 110, and post meal( 1.5 to 2 hrs) blood sugars have consistently been fantastic( when eating LOW carb, never rising more than 30 or so to 140 max, often not rising more than 2 to 5, and occasionally even decreasing 10-20!). But my morning fasting blood sugars remain stubborn. 3 days ago I celebrated having only a 111 earl morning sugar, the next 2 mornings were right back up to low 120s. Still better than 150, but frustrating. But, maybe in a couple of more months I will be there? I am simply amazed to see my body's ability to apparently manufacture morning sugar even after a couple of months of either fasting or eating VERY low carb.(cortisol production due th stress of eating different or fasting?) However, my post meal(post postprandial) blood sugars, the slashing of my triglycerides, the shrinking of my waist, etc, etc, all tell me I am heading in the right direction. So, I will stay the course. I won't seek out medications unless things worsen or I fail to get the fasting sugars below 100 even after say 6 months of low carb/intermiient fasting and/ or carnivore. But for now, I am very pleased with the several very beneficial results, such as excellent post meal sugars, slashed triglycerides, lowered BP and shrunken waist line. Also, my guess is that a month before starting low carb/fasting, my blood insulin was MUCH higher. I know 10 is well above optimum( 5? ), but still I bet it (like my triglycerides) was way higher a month or 2 ago. Maybe over 25. But I will never know.

It should be obvious that God is also the ultimate scientist but funny how society tries to put science and God at opposite ends of a spectrum to say if one is true, the other must be false, when in fact they are completely compatible.

Is Latin Rite Orthodox a Roman Catholic based religion/doctrine? Not familiar with your term. I do know Eastern Orthodox.

@@jangrosemartindale8740 Great question! Yes, you are correct. The name "Roman Catholic" is a depreciatory term used in the 16th century by adherents to the Church of England to differentiate themselves from the "Catholicism" of Rome. So, me being me, I invented the term. We are indeed known as the Latin Rite, and I added the fact that we are indeed orthodox - well ... depending upon how you view the recent century, of course. HAHA!!! I still learnt Latin and follow the dogmas. Be well!

All of my biomarkers have improved (except my low HDL) and my sky-high uric acid. No gout, though. Low-carb diet and time-restricted eating. The ketone effect on uric acid explains a lot about why I don't seem to be negatively affected by it. Wow. How do I read that paper?!
