I've watched this video at least 20 times already. I am wrapping up my first 4l80 full rebuild and installing the same extreme automatics 1+2 transbrake. All your 4l80 videos are helpful and this one really helped me out. Thanks for all the 4l80 videos.

What shifter did you go with mine is getting installed this week. I was thinking my b&m pro stick would work , But i cant seem to locate a reverse pattern plate for the shifter .

@@RogueKing86 I actually didn't change anything with my shifter. I'm still running the normal forward pattern BM ratchet shifter

Good job man I can rebuild any engine from a vtech to a bigblock but transmissions are a whole different realm of MOJO to me I leave it to somebody else but I'll rebuild a manual from a m20 to a t19 without issues 👍

Question with Dual Feed Mode. On the case itself should I install the Cup Plug on right side of center support bolt? Or leave it out. Thanks Dave

@davidgonzalez9785 Dont unless instructions call for it. With the EA brake it does everything it needs to with the plate.

@18:43 guy from precision transmission channel says to put your snap ring in so the gap of snap ring is not in the opening...he says that lends to breaking the ends of the snap ring. says to always tuck opening of snap ring under the non open edges... idk if u moved i around but that might of been why u broke a snap ring... great videos...been watching all these and his videos to get me buffed up for my own 4l80e build. :)

@19:33 yes according to Precision transmission main builder whos been doing this stuff for over 40 years... you gotta rotate ur snap ring so the opening of it does not line up with opening of case. god speed and great work.!.

had to correct my above comment... but yea i think if you spin it so opening of snap ring is NOT in the opening of case the snap ring will hold more horse ponies... i cant wait to dig into a 4l80e and rebuild it. your videos are the best ive seen on the rebuild of the 4l80e great job..and check out that @Precisiontransmission guy on here hes amazing.

Ryan, you're a legend! A for effort on the chapter, I need to learn that "new" feature. As an HD2 modder 4L80e owner, I'm curious if it's possible to still change over to the "new" dual feed method after the fact. I installed mine before don't BS me became a build.

Do you always use the wave plates in the direct and forward drums? Reason I ask is when I built my 4l80e the wave plate was trashed from catastrophic failure. I ended up just using an extra steel to shim the pack to the correct clearance.

No, we didn't in this build, the clip used in video was from a stock drum set up on a different trans. We left the wave out to get the proper clearance in the drum(6 clutch set up), and owner doesn't care if it shifts hard.

Hi Ryan. I fitted that valve body but without the transbrake. As you said lockup in 4th only I am trying to find out if I can have lockup in 3rd. Can I do the same as you did still by blocking the the feed hole where the pump goes? (Only blocked one hole) Would it still work for me? I'm using both nylon balls too. Great videos you are the reason I built my own 4l80e. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Adam

No, there's a modification done to the plate also. He (EA) doesn't recommend 3rd lockup so doesn't sell them that way. The owner locks his in 3rd at the track prior to this, so it was something he requested specifically.

What shifter did he use for that valve body ? I just recieved mine . The the reverse pattern fuction is screwing me on shifter options. I currently have a b&m pro stick but cant seem to find a 4 speed reverse pattern plate . The only options are three speed reverse plate

@@frostback8160 I had to unfortunately get a m&m air shifter aka pro mod reverse pattern but i will say this the that T brake gets the party started. Make sure you get a Kevlar blanket around the trans 3rd gear is a bomb 💣
