I have seen war and thus went to see this movie. Got to admit I had to take a break as It is very realistic. I myself am not a journalist but I sure could grasp the sniper working. America we are soon to be in this if we people don't grasp what has happened and why. Best I can point it out we have a government where our elected lawmakers have Absolute immunity. Our Judges from the supreme court down to the local magistrate also have Absolute immunity. Same for Prosecutors. I'm just scratching the surface. When you have such you have tyranny. As we the people have no real way to address our grievance when these entities rule against our rights. All I as ask is our people process this. Once you understand raise your voices share this with everybody. Because if you don't? I refer you to the ending scene. And it will be just that. A president stripped down to a sniveling whimp. then bang. Game over. photo op.

Our society is just too well structured and integrated to permit this type of conflict. Something will cause the power to go out first, and then we will have no practical basis for unity preventing conflict. At the same token, the purporters of political and ideogical violence will cease their violence in favor of seeking food and shelter, before resorting to new forms of violence to get those things. While those who turn to organic networks such as family friends and neighbors will resolve privation peacefully, those who are outside of traditional social structures will turn to their anarchic gangs and to ideological leaders to direct and justify their violence so that they can attach a 'moral' cause to their hunger. If the power stays on, only foreigners and government agents will continue agendas of violence against people.

@@kv1293grocery prices have dropped like a rock in my town. One grocery store was “gouging” the heck out of people, so me and a few ladies started calling the manager “out” on it. First, he tried to blame supply chain issues, then when that didn’t work he tried to blame inflation, that didn’t work either. We’d done our homework, and saved receipts from nearby towns so we knew he was lying….and had the receipts to prove it. So, prices came down on the items we specifically pointed out he was gouging everyone on. Then another grocery store opened in town and all the prices came down, except on milk. Everything is cheaper or comparable in the new store and the milk I buy is 2$ cheaper at the new store. -- my point being, gouging is a real thing and it pays to let store managers know, that you know, they’re ripping you off and passing the blame.

As a PTSD psychologist who currently works with refugees, I was floored at how accurate the portrayal of internal unrest/war was in Civil War. I assume they consulted with refugees to develop narratives and images because it almost perfectly reflects the stories and experiences of my clients from Afghanistan, Iraq, Ethiopia, Sudan, CAR…. Excellent movie and I hope people take the right message. In civil war, everyone loses.

@@yourlifeisyourfault.4212 You’re right, my statement warrants more nuance. I’d argue that in modern society, I’ve yet to see a civil war or internal conflict that resulted in a net positive for the citizens over the extraordinary losses. With a situation as horrific as human enslavement, it’s disturbing that it took such a conflict to stop the atrocity. When the rich wage war in their interests, it’s the most often poor who die and suffer. Then, the everyday people understandably increase in resentment and disenfranchisement, often releasing this anger on a more easily accessible scapegoat to increase a sense of agency/control in a chaotic landscape. Especially in modern society and conflict/warfare that typically transcends “this team vs other team” battle with clear-cut lines.

I haven't seen this movie yet. I have seen in a peripheral way the results of civil war as a young Marine guard at San Onefre, Camp Pendleton, California in the Vietnamese and Cambodian refugee camps shortly after Saigon fell in 1975. I was only there for a few weeks but hearing the stories from the adults and children are stories you don't forget. The Cambodians were much harder to communicate with as they were much younger males that looked and acted like they had to shoot their way out of where ever they came from. They were, I believe, Khmer Republic facing the Khmer Rouge. See the Movie "The Killing Fields" based on a true story. A Civil War in the US is something I think the press highlights more than what the general population thinks will happen. Most of the people profiled rioting in the streets is a small fraction of either political party. They have to have a headline to get people to watch or read. Still the division on TV and among friends and family is greater than I have seen in my lifetime. A civil war in the US would have no real "winners". Prep for yourself and to help family friends and neighbors as a way of normal life not in a panic and not with the intention of being against "Them". However being ready for the actual bad guys that show up during catastrophe and civil unrest is just being smart.

I was actually thinking of YOU as I watched the movie because you have often said on this channel that civil war is NOT what many people think it is and that recovering from a full on civil war is not a matter of months or even a couple of years. As you say, There are NO winners. My single take away from the movie was this: Don't let this happen to you. Nothing more and nothing less. I didn't feel there was enough substance to the film to make a more nuanced opinion. I took it to be a warning. But on the whole, as an example of powerful storytelling.....it fell short.

I have not seen in yet. Except, if people leave the movie thinking "Could that happen here?" then the film has probably done it's job. Art house cinema(France in the 2000s for example) is meant to make people uncomfortable. Hopefully, people will not view it the same way as main stream entertainment.

I saw the movie last night and it really got to me. I'd read that they filmed it in Atlanta where I had lived for 15 years, but was not prepared for my reaction. The divided highway littered with shot up, burned cars was the route I took to work everyday; a trashed building that was visible from the road had been the location of my son's pediatrician; the Mall where the destroyed helicopter could be seen wasn't far my house. People who favor war or insurrection always imagine it far away from their home. But when the fighting comes, it has to happen somewhere, and as the movie shows, it could be in your neighborhood.

Game of Thrones was phenomenal at doing that: Portraying both sides, and eventually you begin to see why people do what they did (I'm actually team YOUNG Cersei; her broodmare comment and can you imagine your spouse calling you someone else's name on your wedding night?) There were even Memes with Jaime Lannister, "Never thought you'd be on MY side," or some such after the loss of his hand and his kindness toward Brienne. Point is, it makes for excellent viewing, contemplation, etc. I have friends and family on every side of the WARS going on in the USA. It's not easy.

@erinjones956 The point of the Movie (While avoiding almost all political Bias) is DON'T START A CIVIL WAR! It took it all in from what was formerly the least biased observers, Press, that's no longer the case, but its the least biased available. The key point is Don't start a Civil War, but IF things do get that bad, try every possible peaceful alternative before choosing Full scale Violence, as there will be far more far reaching effects and destruction beyond what people can imagine. Basically Think Long and Hard, and make sure it's the very last choice with no alternatives. Not the first, or the decision made flippantly.

Powerful movie, if you knew what to look for.

That it's better to think you know, "Than" to actually Know. For if you only think you know, then when new information comes along that expands your knowledge. You're more likely to incorporate that knowledge, than just dismiss it. He would also say that to believe something, was to act more like an Animal running on instinct than thought. For the Cat that "Knows" it gonna catch that mouse, "NEVER" Considers looking up To see the Eagle about to.....

So, to see young men with American Flags on their uniforms being executed was difficult to watch. Especially since I have Great Nephews enlisted in the Armed Forces as we speak. It was also difficult to see American soldiers dumping American Citizens bodies in mass graves with such coldness. I feel a Civil War is coming. Before it happens though, I believe our Country will be attacked by Sleeper Cells that are already deployed within our country. The American People are spoiled and soft. They are not prepared for the hardships to come. May God have Mercy On All of Us.😢
