Since i fly Boeing aircraft for more then 30 years in Flightsimulator, i bought my first Airbus (Aerosoft A320) for P3Dv4.4 last week. When i first loaded the aircraft i couldn't find the LNAV and VNAV 😅.....so i decided that it was a good idea to look for some information on the internet first. I ran into your YT channel and now have seen your first 5 Airbus video's. After this i was confident enough to make my first full flight on IVAO (LICJ - LFKJ) wich went just fine. Just one small comment about the TCAS - the integrated checklist tells you to set it to TA/RA and set the Tilt (the little knob on the left) to above (then to normal in cruise and to below in descent). I am guessing that is for compensation similar to how you tilt the weather radar
@Doofer9117 жыл бұрын
Yeah exactly. I left some steps out because it looks like the documentation talks about manual control of the Weather Radar etc rather than just letting the automatic function do the work. In the documents, the flight is also out of Innsbruck as well so there may be special concessions made for flying in/out of mountainous terrain.

Great vids. I downloaded the A319 from Aerosoft for FSX and these videos are helping as I have previously been flying the Boeing 737. I am having some issues though, the autopilot is not sticking to the flight plan vertically and speed wise. Laterally it seem OK but I seem to have to control decent and speed myself, is this correct? It also doesn't seem to be staying within minimums so getting a lot of errors. Lastly on my approach to Glasgow just now I had to complete the last turn myself to initialise the localiser. Any help would be great.

Just watching this now! I'm looking to find a new and hopefully better flight simulator after the one I've been playing (GeoFS - the free web one) keeps on glitching to the point that most of the commercial jets are frequently unflyable. I have been finding third-person flying fun in particular. FSX sounds like a great option especially considering that I like a good variety of commercial jets, which is what drew me to GeoFS in the first place (besides its convenience of course). Just wondering, in this game, is there a way to "replay" your takeoff, so you could watch what it looked like from a third-person view (e.g. from the perspective of spotters somewhere on the ground)? Or even control the plane takeoff while showing it from a third-person camera (or some external camera other than the cockpit one shown in this video)?

Hi Doofer! I just want to start off by saying that I love your videos and always wait eagerly for your next ones. I had a question regarding the takeoff thrust. When I'm setting the takeoff thrust, is there some sort of a hidden clickspot like there is with the PMDG aircraft to set TOGA thrust, or do I have to set the thrust manually with my throttles and hope that it reaches the correct thrust amount? Overall, however, I love your videos and can't wait for your 777 tutorials!

You were very late on the flap retraction, when the FMA flashes LVR CLB you are in the acceleration phase, flaps 1can be selected when the airspeed is above F speed and accelerating. Not all airlines that operate the Airbus has an after take off checklist but those that do certainly wouldn’t action it before flap retraction.
@Doofer9116 жыл бұрын
The Acceleration Phase STARTS when LVR CLB is displayed. Also, the Autothrottle system will only accelerate up to the little yellow = bug on the speed tape. If I reduced the flaps immediately at the start of the acceleration phase, I risk losing lift and putting the aircraft nearer to a stall condition. Please also remember that this is a relatively basic tutorial in a simplified version of the A320. The documentation that came with this aircraft isn't the best and doesn't mimick FCOM/AOM procedures. Also, the video was being run in slow motion which also makes it seem like it was late.
@richardohughes6 жыл бұрын
Doofer911 yes acceleration phase starts with LVR CLB that what I meant. Once the acceleration phase starts you can retract flaps 2 to 1 when the speed is above F speed and from 1 to 0 when the speed is above S speed. There is no risk of losing lift and stalling as the stall is a function of angle of attack and nothing to do with speed. You were late retracting flaps as your speed was approaching the barbers pole (200kts) and you were still flaps 2, in the real world flaps zero would have been selected when accelerating through S speed, which is usually about 190-200 knots. The auto thrust does not hold the speed on the yellow = bugs, they are just there to highlight Vfe next i.e. the limiting speed for the next flap setting down. With the speed in managed mode the auto thrust will accelerate the aircraft through the barbers pole as it’s trying to get to 250kts. If you ever experience a flap jam then you have to manually select the speed by pulling the knob this will prevent any further acceleration so you don’t overspend the flaps. Maybe the recreation is limited but I have this on my FSX and I have found it pretty a pretty accurate representation of the real world aircraft.

Fantastic video, highly professionally made! I've one small question. I normally fly with the Aerosoft A318/319 and probably there could be slight differences from the A320 which I'm not aware of. During the Before Take Off Checklist, on the A319 at the TCAS call, we set it on TA/RA and also move the adiecent knob on TILT ABOVE because the radar has to scan straight and over the aircraft path since we are taking off and climb (on the other hand, before T/D we will switch it to SET BELOW). Is it something that is automatically configured on A320 or it's just a little step you forgot to mention in your tutorial? Thanks.
@Doofer9116 жыл бұрын
I think your procedure is correct. The documentation that came with this aircraft was a little confusing with some procedure guides and the order of actions not matching the order of items in the checklists so the procedures that I feature in this series are my own design. I always thought that the Weather Radar automatically tilted for Takeoff but I may be wrong.
@albertoravasini90726 жыл бұрын
Yes, if WX is set on Auto (as in most cases) there's no need for direct it up or down but for the TCAS things are different because receiving an alert even few seconds ahead of time is vital in avoiding collisions. The fact that on the Airbus it's kind of squeezed into the Transponder doesn't help either. We'll see with the upcoming new Ground Anti Collision System...maybe they will merge it with the TCAS and give both a different location.

Hi Doofer, quick question. I see that the airspeed is fixed at 250, yet I do not see 250 dialled in on the glareshield panel. Do you have the airspeed limiter option selected within the MCDU?
@Doofer9117 жыл бұрын
It's a common speed restriction in use all over the world I think. Any plane under 10,000ft can fly at 250 knots maximum. Once you pass above 10,000ft the plane will automatically accelerate to cruising speed. Same on descent, the plane will descend but just before 10,000ft, the descent will slow to allow the speed to drop to 250 knots.
