As a law enforcement officer I have seen the results of firing 5.56 (bonded round) through a car door, and the suspects skin had very similar burn marks as your stage 3 test showed.

I have both. I don't have gel or chrono. The point of impact is the same on both rounds. At least the same for my sorry shooting. 10 rounds at 50 yards is one big ragged hole with both. If I recall correctly. The black tip was about 1/4 higher and right than the OTM. But well within my ability. At 100 yards I couldn't see any difference. With a 20 PSA CHF upper not free floated barrel. Again if I recall correctly they grouped about an inch and a half at 100 yards. I am not a precision shooter. I have friends that let me shoot their rifles, they get sub moa groups and when I shoot theirs I get over an inch groups. So I bought the 75 grain OTM for some gas gun matches. That is what I zero my rifles for. So I figured I would try out the black tip 75 grain and I was not disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised. I went with them based on numerous videos showing the chrono and gel tests.

Great testing. Glad you put in the effort for us to see the results. I think it will be a fine performer. I'd like to see it tested from a shorter barrel however. The only thing I don't like about it, is the bullet isn't bonded. For the money though, I can forgive that.

I'm no expert, but that doesn't surprise me. Most factory loads aren't at the high edge of what that caliber can handle. I bet you can handload just about any load faster than factory. I assume it's about liability and being too hot, risk of blowing up someone's gun

AAC stands for Advanced Armament Company.
@ItsMeRockyT8 ай бұрын
You trolling or you think that is what it stands for?
@richardlahan70688 ай бұрын
@@ItsMeRockyT That's what it's called on the PSA website but it says America's Ammunition Company on the box.
@ItsMeRockyT8 ай бұрын
Ok, I see the confusion. So the Advanced Armament Company is the AAC for the weapon parts, and the America's Ammunition Company is for the ammo. That is PSA's fault for your confusion. They probably thought they were being cool or clever having two AAC's. I'm not 100% certain, but most likely they did it because they fall under two different "Companies" for tax reasons, yet they wanted to keep AAC as a common name for marketing.
@ShizawnSanders10 ай бұрын
This would be good for inside the house self defense loadings. As a truck round? No. For a truck round to keep in your trunk or whatever i think the M855A1 is best. Not to be confused with M855. M855A1 will go through every barrier you had and penetrate at least 12". Plus the fragmentation is great for a round that will also go through whatever. At $2.50 a round its super expensive but you can train with something spicy and be prepared for that round so you don't have to waste money. Since you have a windshield it would be cool to see the M855A1 out of various barrel lengths like 12.5", 14.5", 16" and 20" through various barriers. When simulating the car door maybe add alot more material and then double that up to simulate a suspect behind cover of a car.

What do you think of these vs the AAC 77gr OTM's? They're both the same price. I'll be testing them sometime soon out of an 11.5 but mainly just groupings, nothing as high tech as your tests.

For a defensive round I am pretty sure you want the round bleeding energy right away which theae all did extremely well. i am not overly concerned about over penetration, but i am concerned about ice picking straight thru like happened alot in irac and Afghanistan. Mainly because the indigenous people were not very thick and the green tip round takes so long to start tumbling or yawing. As for the temporary cavity you should have watched the videos before you spoke about them. All the rounds looked as violent as any 5.56 i can ever remember seeing. Since you were reusing the same gel for each round it became impossible for you or us to tell the damage once the video stopped. Just a small suggestion, maybe nwxt rime switch the gels around halfway through and you will have have as many shots in each, vs all on the one block, like in theae tests. Or not. Anyway you still did a good job and pretty informative.

I would like to see gel at 100 yards or so. While SD shootings are generally thought close in affairs, here in the boonies, its not unreasonable to reach out across a field. It also would have some Predictive value against the deer in the garden or fox (2 or 4 legged) in the henhouse. It might be fun to figure out the militiaman's gel testing, since were not Feebs.

Why is the Fusion better? because it costs more??? Don't poopoo the AAC ammo just because they are able to put together ammo with very similar components for way less than our name brand companies.

@@RockIslandguy I don't remember the reasons I had in mind when I made this video, but off the top of my head, federal fusion has a better track record, and it's a bonded soft point. They tend to stay together really well, going through various barriers
