@garfilms Eloise is just trying to quiet Desmond down here because she knows if he "wakes up," there's a good possibility that he'll try to wake up people he knew in his Island life, like Daniel Faraday. And that's exactly what Eloise doesn't want to happen because in this purgatory-limbo type existence, she can have the peaceful relationship with her son that she never got to have in her previous life.

I think Eloïse is like Desmond. I don’t remember well the serie but I remembered Daniel was convinced that « people » were the « variable » where in fact, Eloïse and desmond truly were. « Rules don’t apply on them ». Their destiny is to help people closest to them to remember and reunite them in the afterlife so they can go to paradise or something like that. That would explain why desmond was fully aware of the afterlife even when he was still alive in the last season, just probably like eloise during the serie. But unlike Desmond she decided to ignore that by not helping her closest relatives to remember in Order to spend more time with her son that she killed. So in fact, it is her who is not ready to « move on »

Remember back in Season Three's "Flashes Before Your Eyes", Ms. Hawking's (here Eloise Widmore) debut episode, how she ranted about course-correction and pointed out a man in red shoes that she just knew would inevitably die? And then described how, hypothetically, he would die if she had helped him? I think it was a hint to this. Eloise Hawking/Widmore, somehow, is connected to both realities.

first name I’ve rewatched the series, most of it falls into place with really only ‘why the others needed walt’ affecting the narrative As for the ‘violation’, that was against Eloise personally and her perception that Desmond’s sudden inexplicable curiosity was threatening the security of her sideways’ world, only he (and the audience) didn’t quite grasp that at the time. It’s touched on again in the finale when she expresses concern at whether Desmond will be taking Faraday with him.

So if Eloise was Hawking and Charles was Widmore how did Daniel end up Faraday?
@kitty_s23456 Жыл бұрын
Maybe Faraday was a name that she made up, a fictional surname for her son's father? She kept secret her son's existence from the father (Widmore). Also, Faraday was the surname of a physicist (Michael Faraday) - maybe she wanted to use another scientist's name. Her surname is also that of a scientist/ physicist (Stephen Hawking). The name "John Locke" is that of a philosopher - the one who wrote of the concept of "tabula rasa" (blank slate). The character of John Locke made a blank slate/ new life in the island.

Eloise and Daniel were just nonsense thrown in to add more mystery without any substance. Her appearance and dialogue here makes no sense. This is supposedly the afterlife.
@snarkmark28062 ай бұрын
She’s AWARE that it’s the afterlife. Most of the time, when that happens, you,set your group, and you move on. She wants to STAY at this way stationof sorts, because Daniel is UNAWARE, and they have a good relationship for the first time EVER. Eloise isn’t spouting nonsense, she’s terrified that Desmond will “wake up” Daniel, who will remember that he pretty much hates her.
@Haloid8552 жыл бұрын
imo since all of everyting here being talked about are POV's. This confirmed "Sideways" dimension is NOT the afterlife but rather a simultaneously ran timeline happening at the same PACE of the of island timeline because of this everyone is "not already dead" but rather living completely different lives as different people and due to Desmond and people like Eloise and Jacob (Omniscient being) (Except we see their beginnings) due to them affecting the "normal" way of how things are supposed to happen (like Desmond being only satisficed about Widmore's approval), the island protectors are chosen and forever across timelines being involved in the island bs. -Yea I watched Lost fml
@BlackWind-rx5il2 жыл бұрын
This was an alternative dimension they created. In a time where there's a lot of talks about "multiverses" (thanks Marvel), Lost back then enstablished several times that there's not supposed to be alternative realities in Lost's world, because the Universe has "a plan" and it simply will correct itself to stay on course when someone tries to change it. Like Charlie having to die, and trying to stop it simply changes the way he will die. But Faraday in the past understood there was a way to change everything, that people could be the "variables" but they had to do something on a massive scale to actually mess the universe and the flow of time in a way where it couldn't just correct itself...like detonating a hydrogen bomb near a gigantic source of electromagnetic energy. Which alternative Daniel realize it's something he already did. That's why Jack and the gang where moved back in their time, because they were messing with the normal flow of time and the universe found no other way to correct that. At the same time, this new dimension, that's not really anywhere, was created. The Universe had to "split". As Christian says "there's no now here". In this reality, things don't work normally, because it shouldn't exist in the first place. And people here are capable of realizing they're somewhere they shouldn't be and move on from it. But it can represent a second chance for many to do things differently. So in a way, it's a place of redemption, of forgiveness, of moving on.
@galactic852 жыл бұрын
No. It's the afterlife. They make that very clear in the final episode of the show.
@snarkmark28062 ай бұрын
It is that afterlife. Everyone in the flash sideways is dead. Eloise is terrified that Desmondwill wake-up Daniel, who will then move on just like the main cast in the last episode. She wants Daniel to remain blissfully unaware that he’s dead, because it’s the first time ever that they’ve had a good relationship.
