She was really out there showing young blk girls that they didn’t have to fit in a box. She’s one of the biggest reasons I try to be original 💕

I feel like that's the real beauty of who she was and why people love her. She's an original she did her own thing. Now a days originality is kind of lost. Everybody wants to look and sound the same. I hope people learn from her in that regard

@@MsTrueTy That’s definitely the case, Aaliyah inspired males and females alike just with her character, creative bravery and quiet confidence. She always had a sexiness but that came through more through the way she moved, it wasn’t a forced element. I’m glad new fans are finally getting access to her full artistry beyond ‘One In A Million’ and ‘Try Again’, because she was so much more than those songs. Back in the day we didn’t even really know what she looked like for most of her career. There were even rumours she had a glass eye, as her face was always concealed in some way. She wasn’t sold on her beauty, it was just a bonus. When the shades and hair were finally removed we were like “Damn, she’s gorgeous😍” and that was about 6-7 singles and features into her career lol. So to have her be reduced to an aesthetic all these years has been frustrating, Cos it aligned her with acts that are mostly that now. Her artistry was louder than her looks, she just happened to be timelessly beautiful💯

This is Aaliyah’s best work to date. This album was just so diverse with many different genres from R&B, Trip-Hop, elements of Rock, Pop, Funk, etc. This album definitely showed growth in Aaliyah with the subject matter talking about abusive relationships, feminism, double standards (what if), etc. From start to finish, this album is a bop.

Me too! It’s the part of her that’s always over-looked when people talk about her. Of course Aaliyah had a sweetness but it undermines her artistry to reduce her to only that. Aaliyah was a visionary with a lot of sensuality, heart, edge and innovation, as well as being sweet. More than anything she was a risk-taker and she lead the way for her peers to be more risky💯

This album was her breakthrough era to International Superstardom type Umbrella for Rihanna more edgy, seductive, women empowerment. I can’t fathom Not to think if she never died Timbaland was going to keep working with her. Maybe All the Nelly Furtado hits were going to be Hers. Missy Elliot and Ciara Lose Control . Now that we know she was sedated.. it hurts so much. She REFUSED. There’s so many things that could’ve been prevented. Her original plane arrived two hours later after the accident. Like damn ..

wtf are u talking about? Her scheduled flight was for Aug 26th (the next day). They wrapped shooting earlier than scheduled so her and the others decided to leave that same day (the 25th) but could not get the plane scheduled to pick them up any earlier than planned, so Hype’s (the videos director) partner-travel agency booked that flight on that small plane. They were all expecting a larger plane to arrive.
@destinixshakur
@destinixshakur 3 жыл бұрын
@@ashrick718 that is not true. It was rumored in the industry that hype would do all the extra shit to get money this is why they shot in the Bahamas but it was mostly behind a green screen. He took the plane that was sent for Aaliyah. Kenny Kravitz sent for her to get a private plane . They packed all that equipment on there knowing it was gonna fall . Look at Alberto Clemente scenario. It’s known if you overload a plane it’s gonna fall . That’s probably why she didn’t wanna get on the plane in the first place
@ashrick718
@ashrick718 3 жыл бұрын
@@destinixshakur I know what I’m talkin bout. Thanks. And “Loose Rap” was written and the third verse is boasting about artists and mainly producers that have been jealous of Timbaland’s and also Static’s team unique sound, because Timb really introduced a new sound to hip hop/R&B in the late 90s and had everyone wanting to work with them (Missy too). If u do thorough research Aaliyah’s flight was intended for the next day. Lenny probably suggested he’d send a flight BUT Hype booked that smaller plane for them. Might not had been purposely though. They were all pissed when the plane arrived at that private airport, and they couldn’t book anything else. Private flights are expensive.
