Im so sick to death of ratchetness, wiling out, and black women showing their ass in the media. I wish we could all go back to how we acted in the 90's and every era previously. We certainly held ourselves, and each other in higher esteem, and we took pride in our actual appearances.

Even from a different generation I can see her tremendous talent and how original and unique she was from everyone. It's also so tragic how something so horrible could happen to her and it always breaks my heart to think about it. (I am amazed at how many responses I've gotten since I've made this comment. I wanna thank all of you for your sweet comments it lights my heart up. Im glad that her legacy is so strong and its still effecting people from my generation.) She really had such a cool nature...not cocky or aloof. She was private but open a great balance. For me it was so painful cause i was just old enough to finally see her in concert and experience her fully. But it would never come to be...and its really sad cause she was so young. NN, you are wise beyond your years. I am 25 and I have a relative around your age but I can understand why it would be difficult for someone born in 2000 to grasp Aaliyah's influence, so that you are able to do so is impressive. She was a big deal. There wasn't a party you would go to where her music wasn't being played. I was stunned when I heard she died. Looking back, it was kind of a crazy time, because it seemed so many of the leading musicians were dying off one by one at such a young age - Tupac, Biggie, Aaliyah, Left Eye, etc. It was really hard and I'm grateful this video exists because it was taken a few months before she died. It's also worth noting that she died not too far away from the September 11 attacks and that equally gripped me too.

Everybody have skeletons in their closet including Aaliyah. The difference is back then their were no social media so a lot of things never leaked out. But I do have to admit that Aaliyah was a very private person. No one is perfect in the early 2000s Brandy lied to the world and said that she was married and she actually wasn’t. In the 90s Pam Anderson from Baywatch husband leaked a sex tape of them two having sex. So no one is perfect it’s just that we have cell phones and social media now and with just a click of a button personal information about an artist can be leaked and viewed by the whole world.

A lot of people saying they didn’t want Aaliyah legacy to be tarnished with this mess about RKelly.. What does that mean exactly? How can it tarnish her legacy.. she was just a child in no way was this her fault! Her parents are to blame .. Rkelly took advantage of her! To me even with going through this she’s still an Angel PERIOD!! Nothing to be ashamed of!

Cuz ppl r STUPID! If her career & "relationship" w/R. Kelly did tarnish her name, then how come OIAM took her 2 the top then! Once ur name is dragged through the mud & "tarnished" so bad, u don't bounce back & excel 2 the top so damn quickly! So, OBVIUOSLY her REAL TRUE fans weren't so quick 2 be done w/her then! It was only the haters that wanted 2 b so damn quick 2 write her off! How about they think about that ish!😡

Tarnish because right now lots of false claims are being said on Aaliyah for views/clicks & to get paid. Some of these girls stating lies on her have changed there stories from past interviews yrs ago. Claiming they saw nothing happen between RK & Aaliyah. Now these same girls are saying they saw this and that. All for money.

Because if you did you’d realize that they are beautiful inspiring women that do have quality music that is motivating. Not all of their music is about sex and negative stuff. I feel that there are positives and negatives about everything and every generation. Music is beautiful and the artists that make it are brave because it’s not easy to entertain and be in front of the camera and be human at the same time. These people put in work.

A shame when I think about it... the role models of the last century and the beginning of the 00's were definitely relatable to the real life. What happend? Is it because of this money ruled world that we are living in?! Some rolemodels better watch what they say as guru said it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKKVm6l8psmDj80 Nowadays...more sex more skin... And very very small amount of class.... It is all about who has the biggest ass and who can twerk the best. I hope this will chance.... It's sad. I'm happy to be at 1991 child. @@marilynking3350 I'm on the same page. I discovered her music like last the beginning of last year. I really liked Ashanti and wanted another female to like, and unintentionally I looked up her one song "Tell Me Your That Somebody" by searching songs with baby noises lmao. O checked out her 3rd album and at first I only liked 2 songs on it, and that was Those Were The Days, and Never No More (But I didn't listen to the album from song 1 to 15 just yet) but when I did, it stayed on repeat! And still does to this day. Now my favorite song from her is More Than A Woman, and I go hard for Aaliyah! I just wish she had justice from her death, because I feel like the full story wasn't told/wasn't truthful. And obviously we'll never get that so at this point all I want is her uncle to let her music be streamed so our generation can know about her more and her full story. She is an inspiration lol. I hope she gets the justice she deserves after all these years.

@@issacthekid I've been a fan since I was a baby the first song I heard from her was "at your best" and I fell in love from the start you should really listen to all her albums they are classics the love you have now for Aaliyah will grow and you will love her more and more and yes I believe there's some things left out from her death that should be brought to light there should be another investigation but I don't believe she was murdererd!😂

@@SleighJessi what you see is what you get. She had an autograph signing it was for the one in a million album, she was promoting it at a local record store called Odyssey records in new Orleans. The line was out the door, I waited patiently, she was only there for 2 hours, however two hours came and she was still signing, not turning anyone away. She was sweet, I shook her hand she smiled, she asked me my name, she had on a black Nike hat with the white check, and matching jacket and sweats, and her signature sports crop top. She also had her glasses on. She was talking to everyone, taking pics, just all about her fans. She genuinely loved her fans. Everything they say about her, as far as her personality is true. I feel very fortunate to have crossed paths with her. When she passed, I cried like a baby. I still get emotional about it until this day. She definitely left an impact on me. She is beyond loved and missed. I feel like her legacy is not being handled correctly. She deserves so much more honor.

Less than 1 month before she passed away I remember Aaliyah being all over, straight dominating the entertainment industry. She was on a MTV documentary, she performed live on some late night show, doing this doing that.... I had sooo much respect for her. She seems tired now that I watch this.

Same experience. I was listening to the radio (broadcasting from a club) early in the AM and all I heard was, "this just in - Aaliyah has just died in a plane crash. R.I.P. Aaliyah". Then, he plays Rock The Boat. I rush to the computer, with its DSL connection, and go to Netscape but didn't see anything. I go to AIM and tell my friend that she died. The next day, MTV had a special news report with Kurt Loder and/or Sway walking next to a blown up picture of Aaliyah in MTV studios.

Aaliyah's Legacy is untouched nothing can tarnish her reputation. We all know that she was a victim. She was preyed upon and no one protected her. But she didn't make excuses for him, she surely didn't give up, and will forever be a Survivor and that is what I take from her story.
