dude I was stoked on your tail tap and also that little slash grind you did I think your trucks kissed the coping. you gotta skate with people that are better than you. it helps with the fear, and it just gets you amped. if you are amped you are MORE relaxed, which is what you want... you tense up and that makes bailing/slamming more inevitable

My very first drop in on a 6' pipe I sent a rock to fackie without knowing what I was doing. My board kicked out at the bottom and I landed on my elbows, right in my gut, and knocked the wind out of myself worse than I ever have in the 19 years since that day. It cannot be overstated how dangerous this simple looking trick is if you don't work up to it and learn how to bail first..

As a 37 year old skater that can't even drop in, I have so much respect for you. My son wants me to teach him how to skate vert/big bowls and I dont have the heart to tell him he's on his own with that.

yep, we don't bounce the same way we used to as teenagers, I went back to skating for a bit when i was 40, like you mostly a street skater, could still ollie and BS 180, but after a few falls on a 3 foot miniramp I decided I was past it, I hurt my wrist and even though it wasn't bad it took months to properly heal, which affected other sports i do like shooting, its hard to support a rifle or shotgun fore end with a dodgy wrist, so now i just watch braille lol

@@simoncaddick2451 I was, had a lid and pads on, ideally should have had a wrist guard in hindsight but I also have to be real and accept that when I fall as a 40+ year old, and if its a hard fall I won't be healing up anywhere near as quick as I used to, and that's on top of all the other normal aches and pains from all the other "fun stuff" I did when I was younger that I'm paying for now lol, in the end I decided to just try and avoid sports where falling off/over is a high probability and stick to other things I enjoy that are still exercise/fun but just physically easier on my body like climbing, diving, shooting etc... All of which I haven't been able to do much of due to covid lockdowns.

Haven’t watched your channel in years and I was always into vert skating. When I saw you make this series I freaked because I love watching people learn how to skate on very because it’s such a foreign beast to all street skaters! I remember my first ever rock to fakie was on a 9 foot vert ramp because my dad was a vert skater as a kid. I learned to tail stall, drop in, and rock to fakie all for the first time on that ramp and then once I brought it to the smaller ramps it was all easy. My dad told me as a kid he never had the mini ramps to learn on and so he said if I could do it on vert I could do it on anything! Such a true thing because once you make it to vert u can do it anywhere.
