Boss its one of those lines that's up for interpretation. Lewis from his comments and songs comes off as an old school republican, which ended in the 80's killed by the Bush clan, that was the death of the small government Libertarian roots of low taxes, get your hands out of my pockets, ending dependence on government. Post Regan Republicans became anti-abortion democrats and just didn't realize it.

Governments are the most powerful organized systems man has ever created. If not kept in check people who'm are fallible get into control of these systems and can cause total chaos and destruction. By mistake or on purpose, the outcome can be bad for all of those who live in and utilize the products of these systems. The current government is home to career politicians. Who make their money through deals with corporations and special interest groups, where they create legislature in favor of who'm ever line their pockets best. So Congress is bought and payed for I wouldn't doubt Justices are too 🤔 hell unless you want to count voting for the president we haven't been in control of our military since ww2.🤔 We haven't voted on any of the wars we have been in since then. Truth is the only system the people have left today is the free market. If we lose that to the corporations we lose all of our freedoms instantly. That would be a checkmate 🎮 over for all of us. We become like China but in reverse, it will be the corporations and special interest groups who will rule us if that's cool to you more power✊🏿 to you. For everyone else you better get serious soon because Everything is about to change. How can we possibly catch up to the power of corporations......... There is a way but no one will like it!

I’m one of those guys that lives out in the sticks. I appreciate you taking the time to look at how some of us live, without judgement. The media has torn this country apart. We’re not all white supremacists, inbred hillbillies. All the people I know are just hard working, self sufficient people that want to live their lives, provide for their families, and protect what they have. At the end of the day, city or country, we are all Americans and we are all in this together.

"never need the government to hold my hand" We handle our own business, we take care of ourselves and our families, we ally with those who do the same; we can handle all of our needs ourselves. We get up and put in the work necessary to get the outcomes we need. Asking the government to take care of you results in you putting the government above you as your master. We are our own masters, we will never willingly be slaves, we understand the work that it takes to ensure that.

not needing assistance is like saying I never needed a floatie or life jacket to swim. everyone is in different circumstances, we shouldn’t judge & some feel the need to ask for extra help. people on assistance have to also prove how much they WORK to earn it. many really don’t know how difficult it is to a actually apply for aid. it doesn’t make you any better or high & mighty.

The problem is you aren't astute or sophisticated enough to see the pitfalls. Guess what? I am poor as fuk and I refused to apply for any stimulus money. I am the only one I know who didn't ask. Why? If you think I trust the IRS you need to to some research about where or to whom that money they collect goes. Start out with discovering what a CESTUI QUE VIE Trust is. I dare you to open your mind!

Hey man, appreciate you spreading the love and not writing us country boys off as the stereotype everyone wants you to believe. You’re welcome at our place any time. As for the meaning of “never needed a government to hold my hand”, it’s about the same as “don’t tread on me”. It means all we want is to be free to live how we see fit and think for ourselves. And that most “help” we get from the government always comes with certain conditions that require giving up a certain amount of our freedoms in exchange. And governments will always eventually try to step on its citizens freedoms.

Great reaction, we all have a lot more in common than people would let you believe. I grew up in the country, little money but we always provided. I started working full time about 14 and learned a trade. Worked my way full time through college and after. I got caught up in city life for several years (similar to Aaron) and realized I needed to get back to my roots, so been back the last 15 years or so. I still work hard and play hard, got my motorcycles back, still part time military, provide all my families meat except chicken, hunt and spend time with family. I still say “yes ma’am” and “sir” and have taught my son the same. Teaching him to hunt, be an Eagle Scout at 15, and now in Honors College, all stem from teaching him to be respectful and learning to provide for himself. Keep up the great work.

I have loved this song since it was released BUT his song “Granddaddy’s Gun” hits home with me because of my grandparents but also now watching my husband of 27 years teach our two grandkids gun safety and showing them how to shoot and then showings them the rifles that’ll be there’s soon and all the stories and memories that are passed down from his dad. I have my own rifles passed down but I am passing my knowledge and love of gardening, and canning the bounty from those gardens. How to milk and then make cheese, butter, cream, and even yogurt ☺️. I love that my grandkids can stroll all around our property and eat healthy and learn to respect our land and appreciation of where food comes from. God bless you all and I pray you have an awesome rest of the year and May you stay grateful ❤️🇺🇸

He can sustain himself and survive on the land by harvesting deer and other animals, farming and using our native techniques to utilize our resources. He was in the band staind and he said he “sold his soul to the devil in LA”. I don’t think he knew exactly what came with that. He is more independent now and realizes his beliefs more than ever. I'd almost say that's the deep south in general. I live in a sparsely populated and had someone knocking on my door at around midnight. I opened the door a little bit, but I had the barrel of my gun on the door....it was a cop asking if I've seen someone around there. Said no and told him I had my gun behind the door and Im putting it down and come outside to talk to him. Dude wasn't bothered by it at all, cause I'm sure he'd do the same thing at his home.

I saw Aaron Lewis Wednesday night 03-02-02 he's freaking awesome! Charlie Daniel's talking in the end, George Jones, "I don't need the government to hold my hand" no hand outs like food stamps probably. Probably grows what he eats and kills his own food. He's very patriotic.

To love your brother is to know your brother. How can we have cooperation without understanding? I try to experience as much culture different from mine as I can. I tried to sit and listen to the elders of my variety of friends, growing up, as often as possible. You gain perspective and build that mutual respect we seem to have in very short supply in this world.

John Fike said it best. We are self reliant. We can feed ourselves, our family, and our friends that are like family if need be. Our neighbors all look out for each other. We don't need government to hold our hands. We do what we need to survive. Our politicians these days act like they are out for our interests. Majority of them are there to look out for THEIR best interests.

First time listening to you dude. This was definitely enjoyable. I grew up in a small town back East, now living in a big city out west. I miss the small town life, which I never thought I would say. I will agree with what other people say though, not having the government hold your hand is not taking handouts. Stand on your own two feet. I started my early twenties in jail then homeless. Fast forward 25 years, I have a master's degree, I own a profitable restaurant franchise. I never once took a hand out from the government. You put your mind to whatever you want to do and you work hard. I spent five years sleeping 3 hours a day Monday through Friday while I went to school full time and work full time, finishing college and grad school. Anybody can do it. Looking forward to hearing more of your reviews.

I live on over 100 acres. I was born out in the country, then my parents moved San Diego. I wasn't happy there. So when I was old enough, I left the city. 99% of country folks know how to live off the land. My siblings are totally amazed at how I live. Just to go to a mall would take me 4 hours each way. I am no where near a hospital. The closest is over an hour away. The closest town only has about 3,000 people in it. We got a Walmart 2 towns away(3 if you count Bellybutton Az. But it doesn't have a post office.)

When he says the government hold my hand line he’s referring to too many people looking to the government to solve their problems. When you look to the government for that you are giving them permission to extend their power over you. Patriot act is a perfect example of that.

The verse you're referring to is how as a people we are not willing to give up our God given rights to be free for the "promise" of safety and security from the government. It goes back to the Gadsden Flag "Don't Tread on Me." "Those that would give up essential Liberty to purchase a little temporary Safety deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."--Benjamin Franklin
