What you just shared hits me hard. We don't know each other but I want to tell you that I am so very proud of you no matter how you or what made you make the decision to stop. I lost my son at age 22 in 2014 to an accidental heroin OD and leaving his 5 year old daughter behind. My heart is forever broken. I am sure any and all of your friends and family would have been devastated as well. I'm sure you know it now that it was the best thing you could have ever done for yourself and all who love you. I can't express how much it means to me and probably many others I know to see even just one person fight the fight. Struggle through it and reach the highest step. Success. Please keep it up and keep fighting because you are stronger than the drug, remember that. xoxo

@@cheradubi1194 thank you for letting me know my words effect people in a positive way. Im very sorry for the pain youve experienced, especially in losing a child to addiction, its every parents nightmare that the next phone call will be "the one" when theyve got a child out runnin. You had to actually live that scenario or close to and thats a hard pill to swallow. I thank God everyday I made it out. Just know you will be reunited with your son when it comes time. Much love. When he’s playing live with Staind, he doesn’t talk at all. I just saw them a couple days ago and he didn’t say a single word to the crowd until the end and all it was “We’re Staind from Springfield, MA. God bless you and god bless America.” Drops the mic and walks off. That was the only disappointing part of the show.

I was one of the 14,000 people. I was with the people that I cared about most at the time, my friends, who had become my brothers. We all go through life, and we have amazing moments. Like when you meet the love of your life, or the birth of your children, and at those times you are like wow this is the happiest time in my life. But, then I hear this song, and I am immediately transported back to a time when I wasn't quite as grown up as I thought I was. A time where the stress of responsibility and the knowledge that I am not immortal were not even a concept that I would consider. Goosebumps rise, and my heart swells. That time, with those people was also the happiest time in my life. I am blessed beyond measure to have had an amazing life, that I hope doesn't end anytime soon, surrounded by people I love. There is never one happiest time in our lives. Thank you Aaron for being a big part of one of mine.

November 1 2021. I lost my mother to her battle against diabetes, dialysis, and 6 mini strokes. Back in 2,000 I was riding down a back road with my mom in her mini van listening to the radio and she says we can't change the station there's a song I heard on here and I want you to here it. It's from someone who I've never heard of but the lead singer from that biscuit band you like is on there.😄 A few minutes later I discovered a true gem. And who would eventually become my favorite artist ever. Fast forward to early 2021 I am putting my 1 year old down to sleep. I start singing lost and lonely and she instantly calms down. She emotionally connected to it in the way I'm connected to Outside with my mother. Aaron Lewis if you ever read this I can tell you of one family (3 generations) that you have had a profound impact on our lives! You've helped me through some dark times and I pray there's a day I get to see you live! My only regret is I didn't get to show this to my mother before she passed.

This is one of those amazing "lightning in a bottle" type moments. He had the bare bones of a song and didn't finish it until he was under the pressure of performing it in front of a very large crowd. And it all just came together so well. I am sure if he was able to spend more time developing the lyrics, he might have changed a few things, but what he came up with that night feels so perfect that he should not try to change it at all even if he feels it could be better. That is pure magic.

for all who argue about the J-cat version. The end version is the "melody" similar but not the same. And lyrics except for the first parts with "all the times" and the refrain "I am on the outside" is nothing left from the J-cat version. It's only half truth. The story happend at 'family values tour' with Limp Bizkit, Korn and other bands. But Aaron says that on that moment he didn't write the song yet. Well, it's not true. He wrote 'outside' in early 90' (92 or 93 im not sure), with the band JCAT (check it out on youtube). After that he didn't play this song for a long time. He played a part of Outside at Fred Durst house right after he put them into his record label (somwhere about 99 i think). And at the family values tour, he remembered only the chorus and chord progression. So yes - he made up the verses, but in fact, he wrote the song a long time before that. So actualy there are two versions of this song - staind one, and JCATs one - check them on youtube, they're both awesome.

They ended up releasing a live cd version of that and it got air play on WAAF 107.3 radio station in Boston. And I remember that version of that fucking song was on the radio 3 times every hour for like 2 years straight after that lol it was awesome, it sounded way better than this version he is telling us about with Fred Durst. He had a cool amount of reverb on his voice and guitar and it just sounded fucking awesome. Check it out on KZbin.

Essentially, he walked into a band called Limp Bizkit’s dressing room, and was talking with the lead singer Fred Durst, about doing an acoustic song, and Fred says to Aaron “let’s do the one you wrote in my house years ago” and Aaron was like “sure!” But he only had the Chorus written, so he was sweating like crazy, having to make up most of the song on the spot in front of 14,000 people and Fred Durst.

BROWN EYED GIRL LYRICS Hey, where did we go? Days when the rains came Down in the hollow Playin' a new game Laughin' and a-runnin', hey, hey Skippin' and a-jumpin' In the misty morning fog with Our, our hearts a-thumping and you My brown-eyed girl And you, my brown-eyed girl And whatever happened To Tuesday and so slow? Going down the old mine with a Transistor radio Standing in the sunlight laughing Hiding 'hind a rainbow's wall Slipping and sliding All along the waterfall with you My brown-eyed girl You, my brown-eyed girl Do you remember when we used to sing? Sha-la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la tee-da Just like that Sha-la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la tee-da, la-tee-da So hard to find my way Now that I'm all on my own I saw you just the other day My, how you have grown Cast my memory back there, Lord Sometimes I'm overcome thinking 'bout it Making love in the green grass Behind the stadium with you My brown-eyed girl You, my brown-eyed girl Do you remember when we used to sing? Sha-la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la tee-da Sha-la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la tee-da

I miss all the anger , angst and pain that stained and other grunge metal bands pumped out, other then goodsmack dropping something new now and then there is just no music coming out these days that even comes close since cornell died.

Even though he made it up on the spot it's still better than today's crap that they have to think about or not think about .

Just search for "Outside live with Aaron Lewis and Fred Durst".
