I remember I made a "leak" months before Ultimate was revealed where I showed Mario with a hammer as a new forward smash attack as that is what I wished they'd do. I wasn't good enough to make realistic smoke and speed lines so I made them cartoony. People commented on the lack of realism in the effects which is funny because Ultimate would change the effects to be more cartoony

It shows the CSS selecting random and pressing X/Y to change colors as you've mentioned; Geno's CSS name showed as ♡♪!?, had no announcer voiceline, and was pitted in a 1v1 battle against I think either Kirby, Captain Falcon or Ganondorf on the Pictochat stage. Geno's entrance animation was him growing from toy size (complete with the SMB power-up sound), and the video freezes as Cashman is shoutings "Go!" It wasn't the sound of the Wii crashing, the frame of video was simply looped over and over for two or three seconds

I still remember the internet blowing up about the grinch leak like it was yesterday. Everyone in the community was talking about it and the investigation cycle in just a few days before the last smash direct was just so impressive and exciting. the last few moments before that direct started were so suspenseful, was the leak real or not was the question on everyone's minds. Obviously it was fake but looking back on that leak or just the history of smash ultimate in general is very nostalgic to me

- LMAO i forgot how absolutely jank the Master Chief mod looked like, literally every proportion was wrong, & the funniest part is that Smash has a Power Suit for the Mii Fighters so you have a very obvious point of comparisson - also, i love the absolute copium overdose that people were huffing to defend the Grinch Leak, which is even funnier when you realize people managed to find the EXACT artwork the guy used on the mural - the irony of the Ken Leak is that adding Ken became a very obvious flag for fake leaks... still impressive that they was able to add the hats back when Hat modding hasn't been figured out
