Interesting the way the i3 works. Also you should dissemble the Simplex 4903-9253 if you have one. That would be Very Interesting. Along with the Simplex True Alarm. That would make my day, probably others too.

I took apart a old notifier sdx smoke detector and i think that "resin" might be wax to make sure water doesn't mess with the circuitry and cause a false alarm when the ceiling leaks

Huh, when I took apart my i3 the circuit board wasn’t covered in resin. Must be a thing on older models.

I did this with a 2400 series and ran into a resin-covered circuit board.

Pieter van Ham -FACP4001- Ive taken apart the LED exceeder, all their other devices are pretty basic, the board is on the outside showing anyways with a motorola horn on the inside and a couple strobe jumpers
