@@jozaHC Interface plus xlr cable and cheap mic, yes. Start there. I have found, 10 years in, better in real life. IR is an emulation. BUT if you learn how to use the tech suggested in video, it is powerful. A LOT of people like the halfway point, which is amp, and micing. You CAN learn this videos method with a Scarlett and less gear, though I would argue it is "harder" if you are on a budget or would rather record and not buy. There are endless routes to your destination -- Think of it as no path is correct, nor wrong, as long as you hear a song at the end of it, it varying quality. My wife and I went to Hellgate High School, where Steve Albini also went and graduated from. I graduated in 1992, and we were so curious about Steve's yearbook photo, we went to the library and looked him up in his old Hellgate Knights yearbook. 1980 is when Steve graduated. We used to sell Serendipity coupon books, and we went to Steve's parents house, and his Mom answered, and we asked if Steve was home, and she was so sweet, and she bought our coupon book. Steve is a legend in Missoula, he is idolized by every audio engineer I've ever known, and in his home town his passing is certainly mourned. Just my opinion, but Albini was like the Tesla of audio engineering. There will never be another like him. Great vid, Missoula salutes you

This pack is absolutely phenomenal Aaron. There's no shortage of people on KZbin who chase Kurt's tones but they usually always focus on the guitars, the pedals, and the amps which are admittedly the more fun things to nerd out about, I haven't seen anybody else put this much time and effort into researching the cabs and speakers even though they are the most important part of the puzzle! I absolutely can't wait for the full Nevermind pack, I was just thinking "I really hope he does one for Nevermind" and not even 5 seconds later you say exactly that hahaha

I hadn't yet taken the time to post a comment but already congratulations on this victory we can say that it is a real success and that you have managed to reach...Nirvana! I also bought your pack and I hope you can more than cover your costs with all these expenses because you deserve it! You saved the community so much time and following your project was exciting. I installed everything like you did to try to get as close as possible to the sound you get, well then I don't have a Veleno or hi-flier! For the moment one of my favorite IRs is the distortion one for HSB, it's crazy how I feel like I have the sound of Cobain and a quad reverb!!! The only small criticism I could make is the manual integrated into your pack which could have been more explicit and given all the settings for each sound and piece of In Utero because sometimes in your video you don't specify whether it's is the boxxy or presence tone. For the clean IRs the sound reproduction also seems quite low to me compared to the distortions, I think it comes from the microphones of my guitar but I can't get the sound of the intro of rape me or that of sappy correctly. I'm waiting for the pre-sales of Veleno made by Aaron!! Anyway congratulations !! edit : Is it true that the .PDF integrated into the pack has errors, particularly for the boxxy tone where the bright button should be on and down? Otherwise RIP Albini and can't wait for the Nevermind pack, I wasn't expecting this announcement at all
