Thank you for your comment :) I haven't had a day colder than -15C (5°f) but winters here can easily hit -35c to -45c (-30°f to -50°f) and I'm looking forward to trying it in the dead of winter this year to see how it does for an entire day. I'll.post an updated video on that when I do, just not too sure when as those Temps to hit till around the beginning to middle of January.

If you shoot the hot air straight out the heater to the general space, instead of trough the existing duct, you can change the ambient temperature much faster and hotter. The fan that comes with it is not powerful enough to enough to push through so much piping and bents.

I have a 5Kw in my 38' diesel pusher and the heater works awesome. I just ordered the "Afterburner" control panel from a dude in Australia, can't wait to install the Afterburner controller, you can tune/air fuel mixture, time and do just about anything with the controller even links to your smartphone.✌️🇺🇸
@AaronsAutomotive
@AaronsAutomotive 3 жыл бұрын
The afterburner controller? do you happen to have a link to that? Seems like a really cool idea to be able to tune the A/F mixture as I find the tends to burn a little rich when using the temperature control as a thermostat after it kicks into low gear, I find myself periodically ramping up the Temperature to kick it into high for a full burn and clean out some of the build up. But if I could tune the A/F a little leaner that would solve that issue.

Neither have I actually, lots of vans, and homemade camper conversions, but never in a travel trailer so figured I would, hoping to get some colder temps here soon to do another video on how well they work but so far our coldest day this year has been -15C which is abnormally warm as this time of winter it is usually around -35C to -40C and really want to test it out in those Temps.

Mine has been running 24/7 in the camper now in the front yard for the last month as my sister inlaw needed a place to stay for the winter and I don't have any spare rooms, and so far it's kept my 24' trailer warm, took off a couple kitchen cabinet doors and cabinet door off in the bathroom to let warm air flow around the water lines, and a stick on 200 watt silicon heat pad on all the water tanks, so far no frozen tanks nor pipes, and shes been keeping it warm around 25C, only burning about 2L of diesel a day, so about $60/month on fuel in it, but that's all it's costing her, and $40/month on power. It's an absolute unit.

She'll take those Temps all day long. I'm in central Sask, and even on our coldest days we got around -45 as well and the heater held solid at any time she set it at. That cold snap we had of 2 weeks at -45 she burnt about 4L of diesel a day, and on the average -25 days was like 2L a day.

Have you researched what temp. particle board ignites at? You have a 200-degree temp lying right against a wood material. I would not be comfortable with that. But, I have never looked at ignition temps. Just a thought.
@AaronsAutomotive
@AaronsAutomotive 3 жыл бұрын
Partical board will self ignite without a spark source at 570°F, cardboard will self ignites at 450°F and. And the ABS pipe used will ignite at 415°F. I did consider all that when I installed the hester, but these Temps from this diesel heater are still lower than any of the materials self ignition Temps. But I do thank you for the comment and the concern 😊 have a great evening :)

Absolutely its 100% safe to run inclosed. As long as muffler putty is put on the flange the exhaust is clamped tight there is zero issues having it inside. Infact the instructions state not to mount outside as they are not weather proof and will get damaged.

How do you prevent the diesel fuel from freezing/gelling? I'm concerned. Since this happens as high as 32F/0C. Do you use additives?
@AaronsAutomotive
@AaronsAutomotive 2 жыл бұрын
Depends where you at, here In Canada diesel fuel has additives put into to it by October (its a 30/70 kerosene/diesel and other Anti freezing additives) that change the freezing point from 0°C to -50°C so diesel freezing in the heater isn't too much of a concern. That said worst-case scenario is I would run a 50/50 mix of kerosene/diesel, as kerosene doesn't have the paraffin wax that diesel does. Or run 100% kerosene in it, only down side to kerosene in the diesel heaters is that it has less BTU than than diesel, burning more fuel to keep the same heat. So far I've never had that issue where I needed straight kerosene. And winter blend diesel has been more than sufficient.
