@Jessie I have just become more understanding of why countries that attempted to adopt a form of socialism are the way they are and more accepting of socialisation in a democratic society with a more aggressive stance towards regulation, high tax, socialised education/healthcare, minimising capital ownership, socialised housing as a majority not a minority. A lot of things adopted by social democratic European countries along with acceptance of the need for authoritarianism in certain circumstances like with the pandemic. A lot of this coincides with COVID which drove re-evaluation on social ideas. I mainly watch Hasan for news and entertainment not so much because I listen to his political takes as gospel. I watch Destiny to understand the perspective of a lot of the online right wing given the conversations that often happen.

God I would give an arm and a leg to talk to Aba about the topic of usefulness in a relationship. I have stage 4 nerve cancer (which made destiny’s cancer comment hilarious to me) I’ve had it since I was 5 years old, and I was already really skinny genetically. So I’m 24 now, I’ve gone through overwhelming majority of my life alone in a room with no friends to really speak of let alone a relationship, I look anorexic, I’m like 5,3-5,4”, my parents sold everything to get me treatment in America and I can’t find work (I got treatment in America and it stopped me from dying I still have cancer in my bones, and I can’t find work cause of my condition and I would likely make less money then I get from disability while putting in twice to work), my teeth are decaying and I’m missing like half of them, I have huge social anxiety due to an insane amount of isolation and I have huge amount of back pain to the point I can barely walk to the end of the block. So I personally really struggle with the idea of having a relationship, ngl it’s been crushing me pretty bad lately. I’m not in a position where I need to take care of me 24/7 usually I just need someone to pick up some groceries every week or so, so it’s not like I need them to take care of me, but I have nothing to offer in a relationship, so how can I find one in today’s society given my situation? To me it seems almost impossible, so I’m just kinda crushed as to what to do, it’s honestly one of the most miserable lives I can imagine. I’m a huge romantic, I watch romcoms a ton and find it adorable, but at the same time it’s crushing to watch since I highly doubt I’ll ever have a relationship tbh. So I guess I’m just curious what Aba or Destiny would do in my situation or what they might have to say about my situation. I would absolutely love to have that talk with them, but I doubt they are gonna talk to some random that watches a lot of destiny. But I can dream I guess, it’s pretty much all I can do in most areas of my life… The one upside I have right now is that I’m working really hard to exercise to try and fix my ability to walk, dunno if it’ll help the horrible back pain, but it’s my only choice. I started about 3-4 months ago barely able to do 3 pull ups, now I can do 15 in 2 sets. I only weigh like 35kg (weighed pretty much same my entire life) so it’s probably not as hard as most people. I obviously do other exercises too, but pulls ups are were I see my biggest gains.

On nearly every single issue I basically know what line Destiny will fall on because I know it’s always the standard NYT liberal democratic line. @@voli293 It's not just wrong if you barely involve commentary, It's still wrong even if you pause every 5 seconds to share your thoughts. Reaction content is inherently exploitative, showing a person's full work and profiting off of it without asking for permission is obviously immoral. It's just so nomalized due to the rise of twitch streaming that no one cares. There is also very little benefits for the person who is being reacted to, a tiny (surprisingly tiny) boost to exposure doesn't do anything to counteract the views that reaction content pulls from the original work. Famous twitch streamers being allowed to profit off of everyone elses hard work isn't fair. It also definitely isn't fair use, not even in the cases that you bring to mind, not a single reaction video could ever stand up in court. But it's also hard to hate any specific person for doing it because it's so normalized. I'm definitely really disapointed in Destiny for not even trying to do the moral thing, but more-so to Hasan who is specifically all for "fighting for the little guy" and "workers rights" and all that shit.

@Campbell P Uhm reaction content has been a thing long before twitch. It was popularized by people like pewdiepie and markiplier. These areny just casual reaction videos these are actual commentaries that arent just "5 seconds of talking in between". Even in this current conversation he says things like Turkey donation and the Amazon donation are okay, but Hasan should do more, but Hasan seems to donate plenty if behind the scenes. Hasan is just a guy who talks politics, and he seems to do that to the best of his abilities and he doesn't push further because hes not qualified. He literally stopped debating because hes not good at it and he was do more harm than good which was smart. Last thing Destiny brings up the brothel comment was a good place to straight up say he was wrong because he took a unnecessary personal shot that was a lie which was wrong to do. Out of curiosity, what do you (or if you know women like you) think about having children/taking care of them if it meant not working? Is it seen as becoming a liability or is the effort put into the child seen as a sufficient replacement for being self sufficient? Or are you just not interested in having kids (admittedly this is the outcome I tend to see most frequently). Also does your intrinsic desire extend past self sufficiency such that you feel obligated (or perhaps compelled) to be able to take care of dependants? Not necessarily that you want or are taking on dependants, just that you have the ability to do so if need be.

It’s Matt Walsh who ends up preaching to the choir. Destiny AND Hasan are both very influential and have changed many minds. I started as a lifelong republican. Trump happened and I started watching The Lincoln Project. Which led me indirectly to TYT. Where I discovered Hasan. Who is hot but a little too left for me. Then I learned about their beef, looked up Destiny and here I am. And I’m over 40 and a woman. Videos are important. Content creators make an impact.
@badassfudgehead6172 Жыл бұрын
Videos are important, but the argument wasn’t that videos aren’t important or that he needs to canvas. The argument was that Hasan doesn’t have any impact of the broader political conversation. Basically destiny says Hasan is a safe echo chamber for progressives, while destiny engages with opposing ideas and people. Basically Destiny thinks Hasan effects no one because he’s just agreeing with his audience while destiny might bring people over and might change the way people in the middle think. Not saying it’s right but it’s definitely more than canvassing.

So Hasan's big impact (on you) was that... he led you to Destiny? Jesus. Is this comment supposed to be supporting or attacking Hasan?
@eggbertjohnson2591 Жыл бұрын
You said so yourself in your comment. "Hasan is hot" is one of the main reasons he has any following at all. That and his willingness to be so ruthless towards political opponents. He is basically the Brn Shapiro "conservative destroyed by facts and logic!" Of the left. If you think he is is actually engaging with political and social issues in an impactful and insightful way and "changing lots of peoples minds" then you are still heavily under the influence of his looks/charms.

@Remy2Stronk Жыл бұрын
@jessie6600 a lot of it is about framing honestly. also though I'm very introspective on agency for the self, I would encourage greater sympathy for others. i.e. offering assistance to the disadvantaged to try to level the playing field. I'm also not rly interested in equalizing stars across gender or race, i could give a fuck. People are individuals. So idk where I fall. I love the gays and my homies are black. The funny part is the gays and blacks i know are 10x more traditional than monkey brain libtards. So idk. But generally i don't want to align myself with those that self ID as conservative possibly even due to SELF SELECTION bias

I know the dude at the beginning is kinda silly and or may be trolling. But i have a similar sentiment about the Destiny/Hasan situation that i may be able to articulate more clearly. Whenever Destiny mentions Hasan, I can almost feel the vitriol instantly, he definitely seems to be uncharitable toward Hasan and the tone seems to be coming from a place of emotion. I think as a defense mechanism, Stephen(Steven?) is great at articulating in rapid fire succession many reasons to dislike Hasan, but based on what he mentioned to the dude at the beginning, these things hardly should amount to reasons to "hate" someone over. Him saying he hates Hasan could very well have been a Freudian slip. I'm a fan of both Destiny and Hasan, and Destiny definitely mentions Hasan much more often than the opposite, and its almost always negative. The last time i remember Hasan mentioning Destiny was during his back and forth with Fresh n Fit where he said Destiny is a much more competent debater than him. Allow me to iterate that I'm not saying they both havent been shitty to each other in the past, but it would be nice to see something akin to an olive branch between them in the not so distant future 🤷
