Well today started off a little different than I expected. I woke up and checked out Market Place first this at 6:45 am. Well the rest of the story is pretty self explanatory.... See Chevelle, message on Chevelle, pay for Chevelle, take Chevelle home.
Happy happy guy. It's rough but should be a pretty awesome car.

That 70' Chevelle will make a fantastic project car.... Can't wait to see that wicked machine evolve. Thank you Dani & Dan and Mur for entertaining videos ✌️🙂

This is what a speed shop is all about! Congrats on the buy! Thank you Ms. Dani 😊 Signed - Your friend, the Cancer guy! (4 radiation treatments left! I'm kickin' it!)

Sweet. Can't wait to see how it progresses. I've had 69, 70, 71 & currently a 72 Chevelle. My 70 I paid $250 for and it ran/drove. Of course this was 30 years ago but even still at that time it was a steal. 350/350 2 Dr and it came with extra parts.

I had 3 57 Chevies, 210 and Bel Air, that I engine swapped in 1972. Then a 1960 Impala convertible with floor shifter and a 348. Gas station attendant left the radiator cap off the last 57 and the engine seized 100 miles from home. After hitch hiking back, I found a 68 SS396 that needed an engine, for $400, and got a junkyard 396 for another $400. Over 50 years later, I still have it. Plus there's a 71 in the driveway now as well. Both are running.

Thank goodness it's a car you have had experience driving before, my it was a shame when you found you had personal oversize issues with the dream hot rod 67 satin black Camaro. You say it takes a year to make a satin black with white stripes hot rod 70 Chevelle with a 71 rear bumper the way you want but watching you clean and asses with so much enthusiasm I'll bet you're burning tires before the summer ends. Admit it Dan you're smitten, calling this abandoned project mint is more a testament to your skills rather than the car's condition. I can dig the headspace as you calculate car parts and work needed while you sift this build through into available time but excitement seemingly speeds up the process almost exponentially.

Rock on brother! I bought a 1970 Chevelle SS that was blue with white stripes in 78 also for 800 bucks. the previous owner had taken out the 396 and the Muncie and replaced it with a 300 horse 350 and a Saginaw 3 speed. within in 2 weeks it had a Muncie Rock Crusher, Spider intake, a cam and a Holly 750 double Pumper. Drove the wheels are for 3 years. until a drunk hit it parked on the street at 75 in a 25 mile an hour Zone. Mourn than that car to this very day. Can't wait to see it come together. But please reconsider the back bumper, those 70 square tal lights are iconic.

Great car! This will be a great build you can get everything for those things, they even sell complete bodies. I’d like to see you do a nice resto on this one. If it’s a keeper I’d say to take it a step up from the Nova. I also think a nice big block is the way to go with a Chevelle.

I'm a big chevelle guy so I'm super excited about this. My 70 Chevelle is at the bodyshop for paint right now. Mine started life as a 300 as well but I can tell you that based on the trim and the interior that is likely a Malibu. Trim on fenders and doors was a malibu option. 300's didn't have the chevy badge on the grille. Piping on the door panels was malibu as well. Unless a lot of parts were swapped at one point that was a malibu. 300 deluxe was actually pretty rare in 1970 so a lot of people weren't aware it existed. 300 deluxe had vinyl floors instead of carpet as well. Great car regardless and you got it at a great price considering what is there.
@TheCardCommando
@TheCardCommando 3 ай бұрын
Also 300 deluxe had the same door panels as the heavy chevy. No piping and a woodgrain insert along the top.
@TheCardCommando
@TheCardCommando 3 ай бұрын
Also the malibu trim on the doors and fenders have value if you decide not to keep it. No one reproduces it so if a guy wants it to restore a malibu instead of SS cloning it they will pay up.

Nice buy Dan. Missing a lot of parts, definitely rough but nothing you can’t handle with your skills. Decent price for one that solid and a great car to build. It is one of those makes and models you can’t go wrong with if you keep it or sell it down the road. I remember them new when they came out in the new car lots when I was younger. Pretty sure they got in something like 15 of them in a bunch of different trim codes, they all sold fast. It seemed like those days of cool cars coming out every year would last forever, nobody knew what was going to happen in just the next few years.

About as plain as you can get , the price was extremely cheap for a new car . I loved that car , imagined it with a killer big block . She drove it for years and sold it when the engine quit tunning . Hell no I didn't buy it as it was gone within a couple of days and she sold it really cheap . Damn my luck .

Chevelles look best with a black interior. Just spray dye the interior black and replace the door cards and headliner. Edit, you know its like Costco, you can't get out for under $200, and the bills will add up. You need an engine, transmission, exhaust, drive shaft, rear end, shifter, interior seats, brakes, steering, suspension and body parts like a windshield. and a 71 bumper with tailights. Good luck on keeping it at under $15,000. At this point it's a just a rusty shell, but it's in better shape than some of your cars.

During my military time, I sampled several muscle cars. One was a 1970 SS 396 Chevelle. The car was similar to my new GTO convertible which I sold several years before to finance a 1970 Firebird. Then came the SS Chevelle. What a disappointment. My experience with the Chevelle soured me on Chevy from then on. I sold the car to an Australian Exchange officer in Omaha NE. He shipped the car HOME down under. Before selling the car, I found out the car had a factory design failure point. The shift body on the auto transmission would not shift until it warmed up... making the car a POS during Omaha winter. Anticipating you and Danni making this Chevelle a DD SS driver.

You have a hot traditional smallblock and LS in the fleet; this one cries out for a mild 454/4-speed/3:31 gear (so you can drive it wherever you want). The BB may no longer be the cheap way to make max power, but the sound and torque suit the car IMO.

I don’t have those type of wheels but if the center caps are metal, you can remove the tire and heat the wheel and cap, that will soften the epoxy enough to get them off. I had access to powder coating ovens at the time. I did it on a set of American racing rims someone epoxied some caps that had…off road use only cast in to the backs of them. You never know what some people will do or what you will run in to on an old car. I bought an old Skylark for parts one time. Thought I would snag the windshield for a spare. Someone had epoxied it in and it took days to get it out. Totally was not worth the effort and I would never do it again.

Cool. The 70 rear bumper is so much meaner looking than the 72 imho.

Hey Dan, you're talking about rally wheels. I think they look awesome on Chevelle's. There kinda expensive to buy them now if you can find them. I can't believe you keep finding these cars. That must mean there's still hope for me to find one. Seeing by now you sold the 47 Chevy without letting me know what you wanted for it. Love your channel, cars and all your videos. Love Danielle too. Take care and be safe.

A Chevelle..... I've been waiting. I love the mid year 66' - 67' Chevelles. I had two of them back when gas was under a dollar a gallon ( yup 1 dollar ) Could cruise all night for 5 dollars even with my (toilet bowl flush) Holley 850 double pumper ! That 70 will make a sweet project car... take a break from the daisy rims and go old school Cragar Super Tricks. Hey how 'bout a Pro Street build from the 90's .... the look is making a come-back. Thanks for all of the entertaining videos Dani Dan & Mur ✌️🙂

70 Chevelle, great project car and the price was right and it’s in good hands. I like the 71 Chevelle rear bumper idea.

Now you are talking. I love Chevelles and a 70’ is the best. GM A bodies are great cars. Now build this at least as nice as the 67’ Build. We will watch every second of it. I am thinking Big Block is way to go. 4 speed for now. Go for a TKX at a later date. A bodies are great drivers and are fantastic for distance driving. Enjoy the build. I know we will. Thanks for the content.
