Rolls Royce's are beautiful example of mans ability to build extraordinary things. They should be restored and appreciated simply for what they are. Car perfection.

Nice to see such a venerable old girl brought back to her original majestic beauty again. And from the days R.R. was proudly made in the U.K. Sadly German owned now. I would think it would take half a lifetime for your average classic enthusiast to restore one of these to the quality expected of this marque. Not a light undertaking. Brilliant job here, pleasure to watch.

my parents had a early 80's convertible model and I would always want to go barefoot because the carpet is so soft and plush my dad would place the car into gear using his pinky , the lever was THAT easy to move , the steering had very little resistance as well , again it could be steered using one finger I also recall them using mineral oil under the hood as a lubricant/fluid....maybe in the brake system ..not sure though 💖 this brings back fond memories 💖

Yes, mineral oil brake fluid. Very weird servo brake system, of course. Today most would find the steering too light with very little feedback The suspension usually wasn't up to the weight of the car. It was stiffened a little for Bentley.

They dyed the leather. In a classic RR it is preferable to dye the original leather because nobody can recreate the seats properly. Unfortunately they didn't use the correct colour dye which is a shame because this car came with the most beautiful "beige" that RR hasn't done in many years. A colour not seen in this video because it was faded and stained in the original and wrong in the redye. A very special car though. Besides the fact the whole RR car company was lost and is now a German rebadging house. Surprised they kept this car 70s brown but maybe that is a coming back fad now.

Jeez. Doesn't anyone know what "restoration" mean. In the case of returning a vehicle to it's "original' glory is to use the original parts or "restoring" the parts that came with the vehicle (where possible). The synpathic way the interior of this car was returned to almost originl condition was perfect, also the strip down and painting of this vehicle was professional. Even the engine was partly/fully restored as you can see, before, timestamped 032-035 and after, timestamped 3.00-3.04. The only thing i see wrong with the Rolls-Royce is that the steering wheel is on the wrong side. lol.
@johnorford73175 жыл бұрын
Strictly a restoration is using all the original parts. That's considered splitting hairs these days. You will though see motorcycles that are over-restored (a nonsense word really) to a glossier condtiion than the originals.
@cdpgbc-mw2kz5 жыл бұрын
Bernard Summers : Informative comment. I love those that focus on "restoration"...the funny thing is any full restoration of a vehicle is really not a restoration. The amount of care and workmanship that goes in to a restoration likely far exceeded the quality of the car when it was originally built. Look at all the muscle restorations that are done..there is no way any of the big three ever made a car as good as how these restoration vehicles turn out.

That's beautiful. If you change the gearbox in this to I hemmi they go like 1 I've done it to my Rolls Royce Silver spirit and twin turdo. I don't think is a full restoration but is quite a very well done "refresh", it continue to have some stamina, that is important for many vintage car lovers! Also, this car does not justify a restoration that can be more expensive than the car itself (objectively) so I guess the owner did a job using the best common sense. We don't know how are the mechanicals but is assumed that they checked everything including the infamous English electrics from the 70s. Anyways, I like the car!
