"Sundowner" is the highest trim level, like LTZ on a new Chevy or "Platinum" on a new F150. I currently own a 1984 B2000 SE-5 (the mid-tier and the last year model for this body style) that I'm working on getting the money together so I can get the OMC 2.3 Cobra that I have for it sent to the machine shop to bore the cylinders out just a smidge. Just a bit of trivia: Mazda (officially, anyway) skipped making a 1985 model year truck and introduced a new body style for the 1986 model year. Yes, I know quite a bit about this body style of Mazda B-Series/Ford Courier. The "Yee-Hawl" is what drew me to this channel in the first place. If one looks closely, you may find a tag in the engine bay that identifies the rear axle gear ratio. Mine is located on the passenger side near the hood hinge (within two feet), but it looks like Puddin's is missing. Same for the Ford Couriers...

I'm more of an old hot/rat rod type of guy, but all these mini truck videos have made me miss my 1st truck. It was a 1979 Datsun King cab. It spun a rod bearing at almost 300k miles. I always intended to do a motor swap and had it parked at my grandparents house. Went by to visit them one day and they had sold it for $200. Someday I will find another! Keep up the entertaining videos. They always bring a smile to my face. Heck this old timer even learns something every now and then. If you are ever down around Fort Worth hit me up and I'll show you around the old car and truck collection here on the property. Maybe we could find something you are interested in to trade for an old Datsun or Chevy Luv pickup. You seem to have better luck finding those around your neck of the woods.

I would really dig a mid 70's Ford Courier or the like, but up here in WI, there is basically zero, nobody was keeping them out of the salt, no one thought they would quit making new ones. Who could have known that in a time where they can easily make a 200hp+ tiny engine, they wouldn't make a little truck with a 5 speed to put it in? "Small" trucks nowdays weigh more then 1980's half tons did.

Those little Mazda pickups were a decent rig, had a couple of them when I was a kid, that single over head cam 2000 was way better than the 1600. Those Hitachi carbs were easy to rebuild, I liked the side draft carbs from the earlier sedans, they made more power, they looked like an SU side draft copy. I would have the head milled .120 and put a bigger cam in and they would go pretty good.

@danven12562 жыл бұрын
When that hood came up it sure brought back a lot of memories. Those things were notorious for head gasket issues along with the 626 with the same motor. Sometimes they would come in the door pinging really badly and that was a obvious sign that the head gasket was gone between two cylinders. If it was left too long it would cut a groove into the block. For my personal vehicle I waited till 85 and bought a 86 b2000. A much better truck. I have one genuine Mazda truck left. A 91 b2200 EFI automatic with 150 k. It's now officially turned 30 years old. Other than fluid changes and an occasional light bulb it has required zero maintenance and is as reliable as a new car.

I had an 84 B2000. Danged good little truck. The only thing was I needed to put me and 2 child's seats in it. Fail! Traded it in on a Nissan Stanza 4×4 minivan. Those Mazdas are bad for blowing head gaskets especially if you run them hot. My friend has one with over 400k on it. Fix any coolant problems and change the oil. I think she will clean up nice. The best thing is it's white. Anything you do to add color to it is an improvement! It's a nice little truck that will do you good. Not huge powerhouses so I think that slide in camper was a bit optimistic. Maybe a 5.0 and AOD trans would help the power issue. LOL! Have fun and be safe! Cheers Terry
