Loved the second home’s beautiful chandelier and I hope they rescued it before they destroyed the home. The tin ceilings were neat too. Small but built to last cosy homes. If only those thick walls could talk! Thanks Paul from Minnesota 👍🏻

Love the little cottages. I think the second one might have been my favorite on the inside - fix the rest to match and take down the Art Deco touches and it would be perfect. I love the thick walls and the lovely curve of that trim on what was likely the original front door. Thank you for showing us the side of the house. Aside from the hideous spider *shudder*, I enjoyed seeing the roof line where it was clearly visible where the old section had ended. I was very surprised, too, by the size of the “new” house! It was TINY! Small living room, kitchen and bathroom, plus three itsy-bitsy bedrooms! I think if someone as tall as yourself tripped going into one of those rooms, he’d smack his head on the opposite wall! Those bedrooms weren’t even big enough to fall down in! 😂 And the last cottage was gorgeous on the outside! That blue and white combination really tugged at my heartstrings! Thanks, as always, Paul, for bringing these to us!

What cute cottages, were small but was all the workers needed back then. We had a small 3 bedroom built in the 40s (which was a great little cosy home we loved.) It was one of many worker's homes all the same, which lined our street. Post war built, some say for returned soldiers familys or housing trust homes. Some cottages that were built by the old railways for the workers are still there in a few towns i know.

That sculptured shag carpeting on the first cottage. Total 70s! The dunny is far enough so nobody had to smell your business yet close enough to permit comfort. Somewhat! Nice that the second two saw repurpose after the families they housed had gone on. But, as they say, all good things come to an end, eh Paul? The last home has that old wide plank pine floor that they'll no doubt salvage. That old growth pine just isn't available anymore! Thanks for the explore, mate!

What an interesting explore of some unique old houses, 🏠that sadly have now be demolished. So much history that depicts variations of the older cottages over the decades. The second property appears to have been an old cottage that had an art deco facade added later on from the original build. Also, the less expensive cottages in the older suburbs such as Port Adelaide were constructed of timber frame with corrugated iron cladding. Thank you for another great explore of Adelaide history. 😊
@urbexindigo51642 жыл бұрын

Hi, love your videos. Why is corrugated metal used so much in buildings?
@vickimarsh27502 жыл бұрын
First property is a bit of a mystery. So far back on the block and only 3 rooms? I have to wonder what the original property might have been used for? It breaks my heart to see recently renovated homes demolished. Someone went to so much trouble to upgrade the last home, only to face off against the 'yellow devil'. My Mum bought a beautiful cottage in Ethelton in the early '80's. All sandstone, small but stunning. I think it's still there. She passed away last November at 100 and 3 days old and loved that house so much. She sold it, to be move to Qld to be close to us and her grandkids. So much heritage lost 😒

The first one looked tiny from the front. I love the old doors and the locks. Maybe Australia should legalize that stuff they destroy homes to make a grow house. It’s a shame to see old homes destroyed because of that. Just a thought. I love you refer to the toilet as a dunny. The second home since it was a business they didn’t do many changes to make it a home, just all business. The third one I do love that sand stone. I agree it seemed bigger from the outside.
