The reason the elevator didnt work upstairs is because both doors downstairs were open. Both doors on each floor have to be closed before the elevator will operate. Don't have one personally but had one in a house my family rented in Alabama....we thought it was broke till we figured it out about the doors. This is beautiful! Someone in the comments said it was not going to be torn down but will be renovated/updated and then put back on the market for sale. To me, that's better than demolishing the home and wasting all of the gorgeous materials and wonderful craftsmanship. There doesn't seem to be as much damage or vandalism as is typically seen in these abandoned homes. I hope whoever ends up buying this home, and it's grounds, will enjoy it. And, I hope the previous owner never goes back expecting to live there again. Sounds like he was a scary person. 😲 Great video, BB!! Enjoyed every second of it. Kudos to you. 🙂

I worked for a number of years as an archaeologist, and one of the things we did was to examine properties that were going to be developed to determine if there were any archaeological remains that would have to be considered. And it was appalling how many beautiful, unique, perfectly sound houses were being destroyed simply because the person buying had more money than aesthetic sense and wanted something “new” that was generally just a cookie-cutter mega-mansion exactly like every other mega-mansion in the area.

I’ve never seen anything like it. Oh, damn. They are tearing it down. I think I’m going to be sick. Those ceilings are beautiful. The murals in the large entertainment room make me think of Imperial Rome. HOW can anyone tear it down?! I wonder what happened to his family? FYI: Swarovski is an Austrian company famous for its silver crystal. They don’t make gemstone items, but it’s really pretty. The master shower reminds me of a car wash, it’s so large. The house makes me feel very sad.
@charlayned8 ай бұрын
Back in the mid 1980s, before Swarovski was known, they did kiosk sales for the Christmas season in Sears. I worked for them for 3 years, one as sales, two as manager. I got to design some of the beads for necklaces and such. Also, the biggest thing about that was the guy in the red long coat and the 4 buddies who came over and ended up buying an 80mm crystal ball for a girlfriend's Christmas present. When they left, three girls came up asking where they went. I knew they had to be "someone" so I asked who it was. Bon Jovi, who were in town to do a concert. I met Jon and the rest of the band! Yeah, fun memory.
