I'm both laughing and crying at this video. I'm a 65 year old woman, and this was our family car in 1975-1980. My father was born in 1911 and had a full service garage. He adored the engineering of Cadillacs. Thank you for caring about this wonderful old car. It's worth restoring, I think. Vice Grip Garage, you have the passion and the knowledge to do it. Respectfully, I don't think it'll need a full restoration, it looks really straight and mostly rust free. After all mechanical/electrical repairs, weld in some patch panels on the lower front fenders maybe, match up the paint, spot repair and paint , also other small sections. Then after a deep cleaning, polish and wax and that car will look awesome and have a great story to tell wearing it's mostly original finishes/patina, which would be lost with a full resto. Retain the character, I'd say. Great car! PS: Please don't put loud mufflers on this cream puff. This thing is supposed to be nice and quiet! I'm going to be 53 this July, and I teared up a few times watching this. I'm an old motor head. Had 4 1970 Caddy's. One I restored to show car condition. Met my first love in my 2nd one cruising her up and down the pike, in my early 20's. The 3rd one I had, ( the show car ) I built WITH HER out of 3 1970 Coup DeVille's. You're a soul after my own heart man. G-d Bless.Thank you for the trip to my past, and thanks for saving that sweet old Caddy.

Just found this channel and it's great! I have never laughed so hard at your "backyard mechanic" antics! 🤣 The "duct tape and bailing wire" stuff reminds me of the quick and cheap repairs I learned how to do in autoshop in early 70s. My teacher was a old school mechanic and taught us how to clean out a carburetor without taking it off. You probably already know of these tricks. Spray her down the STP carburetor cleaner, vise clamp off the fuel line, run the car until the float bowels were dry, then throw 4 or 5 mothballs in the gas tank that was only about 1/4 full. Wait about 15. Release the vise grip. Crank until engine started. When the float bowels got slammed with the naphtha in the gas it would flush the needle valve and seat. Not to mention the intake valves. Another trick was for clacking hydraulic lifters. Try pouring about 8 oz of automatic transmission fluid in the oil. Most of the time it would clean out the dirt in the lifter and quiet down. I learned alot of backyard mechanic tricks from that old guy. I used to do all my own work on my cars, rebuilt engines and tranmissions (and I miss it) but now I have too many health problems to get under a car now and besides, cars are so D....M complicated now you can't do anything on them anymore without $25,000 worth of test equipment!

I kept rewatching the ride home 🤣🤣🤣 imaging I'm one of the other drivers. You feel the air around you begin to rumble and wonder if there's a plane about to crash on top of you. Suddenly a loud 1970 Cadillac covered in mold goes flying past you at 90mph leaving a cloud of white smoke for miles. A few minutes later you drive past and see it sitting on the side of the road while he refills the passenger seat gas tank. Then a few miles down the interstate you hear it rumbling up behind you again 🤣🤣🤣. The little comments he's making a long the way about cops & people thinking they were gonna pass him, this is all priceless. And what he's doing seems like a noble cause as well. How could you not enjoy this.

I'm guessing that 20 years ago whoever owned it felt the car was worth far more than what they could get for it, so they parked it. They probably did not think that that sitting out in the field that the car was actually wasting away, especially after it starts sinking into the ground. If they owned a lot of land, they could easily forget about it. They are lucky that it at least stayed closed up.
