Hey! Former employee from the Children's Museum here! My old coworkers found your video and I finally got around to watching it. I'm a bit sad that I never had the time to return back to the museum before it closed completely but it's kinda nice to be able to see it again in video format. I personally worked there from 2014-2016 - The first room you entered after the automatic door was our 'traveling' exhibit area. This space was used for exhibits that were temporary, the last one in the space before we closed was a partnership with Yale University about dinosaurs and their relationship to modern day birds. I helped a bit with the planning for it and it came out really cool. There used to be a velociraptor statue in there and a beautiful dinosaur mural. I'm really hoping that those survived. The room attached to the right was Lizard Lair where most of the reptiles from our Wildlife Sanctuary lived. - Nah fam the building was always in disarray. The building was old as all hell and we were nonprofit. The staff itself would try to fix stuff but man it was just...gross - The area where they "took care of the animals" was a recent addition after I left working there about a year prior. It was originally the gift shop. - The room with the paint and house was 'Critter Crossing', our 3 and younger room, we had a bunch of learning toys and books. We did some child events in there too. I believe the boxes in there were used as the "sink" on the inside of the little house cause I remember there was storage in there - No I have no idea what the green button does. I didn't even know it was THERE. We didn't use that window, check in was just that desk area -The long spiral staircase had a giant pendulum. We would have to pull it back to start it every morning and near the end of the day since the momentum wasn't enough to make it constantly move for the whole day - The big green room was 'Turtle Town' where we kept a ton of turtles and tortoises. It was donut shaped because there were also tanks in the middle of the floor too, hence why the floor and ceiling are not painted in - Big round thing is the top of the planetarium dome, from what I remember even we couldn't access that area with the locked cabinets because that is where the projections were and everything. The rooms to the sides however with the white board were a couple staff rooms for planetarium staff - Again, it was falling apart when I started working there. It has always been that gross - "Fun mirror" was not fun, it was the staff break area. The room next to it was a classroom for summer camps, all the furniture in there was actually in the small staff room. I guess they moved it in there since that room was easier to get in and out -God the bottom floor, I really forgot the name. But essentially it was all of the hands on tinker stuff: a section on basic electric switches, Lincoln logs, life sized lincoln logs (which gave me SO many splinters), little plastic cogs, and a lego racetrack. That was always a bitch to clean cause there was always stuff in the wrong area. The year after I left I think it became a really shitty gingerbread house/winter area. I don't remember what exhibit introduced the giant lights, that one left way before I was hired -The section in the middle of the planetarium was also a control panel/screen for the entire show. There was also a desk in the back behind the chairs were the staff would control it and fix audio issues But thanks so much for this! If you have any questions you can always ask and I'll do my best to answer! Working there was honestly really fun, I met a lot of cool people and I'm still friends with my old coworkers that I met there too

Hi! CT native here. I went there all the time as a kid. I am half asleep but I can give you a detailed description of a few things tomorrow. To answer your question- that big sphere was a theater. Everyone sat inside and it projected the stars in pitch black. It was magical. Also had a narrator explaining as the stars and planets moved. An absolute core memory for me. I’ll find a link to something similar and share it here if I can.

Watching from Ohio 🛸 while I'm doing my meal prep. Also, as a side note, I'm glad they're not tearing it down simply for a parking lot bc that would be pretty lame. I hope the whale is transferred intact. It's pretty neat looking.

Unfortunately Connie will not be in tact, he's too big apperantly so they're keeping only his tail. There was a pipe running underground that would squirt water from his spout every three minutes, so I'm not sure if all the piping and foundation underneath was the reason they're not keeping the head

I'd bid on some of those display items. Sucks they're going to be turned to trash.

Went there very often as a kid with awesome memories and was just wondering pretty recently what happened to them. I hope they find a new home, it is sad that it’s gonna be gone from that location but at the same time seeing what the old workers have said it looked like it was time to retire the structure itself

As soon as I saw the whale, I immediately remembered that I visited the museum back in the 80's when I was in grade school. And that into total faked me out. For a moment I thought somebody had changed the input on the TV.
