Hey house lovers and explorers! :-) Thanks 'Tamara" for the tip off :-)
This video we take a look through 3 homes with the first an immaculate and great example of contemporary 50`s design which could be considered mid century modern without being to over the top futuristic.
The home has been well maintained and most likely a long time owner who really loved the place but unfortunately now the property is in the hands of developers and it`s future is doomed with new plans for this site.
The second 2 homes are also in great condition are are both late 20`s bungalows. These homes I have had on file for a few years now. Both seem to have attempts and renovations but again a better offer to give up and sell was evident.
Hope you all enjoy the tours. Thanks for watching :-)

One thing about these older homes is they allowed for real storage unlike the new homes with poky laundries and bedrooms so unrealistic for families - another great one Paul - thank you xxx

Pomegranates in the first tree. I don't agree with lame' curtains. They are what we used to call antique satin. I just don't understand tearing down perfectly fine houses. Progress!! I do love your videos!

This house a beautiful and clean. All it would need is a good cleaning and people could move right in. I didn’t see anything wrong with this home. The real estate photos were beautiful. Just a note, in the USA it is not uncommon to have a half bathroom right off the front door. Some of the videos I have seen in Canada some of them do too. Another great video. Thanks for showing us this beauty. Stay safe out there and don’t get caught going in these abandon places. Give your kitty cat, Noah a kiss for me.🐈

First home appears very solid, a possible easy renovation project to update and return to its former glory. The backyard us huge, understandable an attraction for developers looking for maximum returns on investment. Shame it isn't a corner allotment as the previous owners could of subdivided the block, possibly saving the orginal home. My parents live in rural SA and their home, built in the 50's but regularly renovated, has a very similar sized yard. Not unusual for their suburb or the era. Great for young kids, grand kids running wild, teenage parties and storage of vehicles, usually against Dads wishes. Dad has now build a massive workshop for vehicle restorations in his retirement. Great memories ! Second home is in a similar position. Little structural damage or failures but huge backyard, which is the real selling point of both properties. Another unfortunate loss. Another great explore Paul.👍👍🇭🇲

I would have called the curtains "chintz", which is a polished cotton or polyester fabric.... Quite popular in the '60s. Bonjour! Three beautiful houses, so well taken care of, still looking young and vibrant in spite of their ages. They were full of storage and brilliant details, so much light and space, and character, even the smaller one at the end. I'd love to live in a house like any of those and I'd enjoy the vintage kitchen! These houses were so clean and fresh, as if waiting for the next family! What a pity this isn't going to happen. Thank you so much for exploring and filming these great houses 🥰

The first tree is a Pomegranate. Tasty fruit. Pain in the behind to get the edible bits out. Has a lovely scent. Second tree looks to be a crabapple. Young crabapples have a fur like substance on their skin that they loose as they ripen. The shape is a give away. Not edible. Usually planted just for looks. That house is just too darn cute. Looks like it was very much loved by its families. Pity it's going to be torn down. Still looks very liveable. Love the massive yard. Second house is what they called a Bacholars Home. Very lovely looking home. Probably aged from 1930-1935. Love the fireplace. Another house that's such a terrible waste to loose.

I love pocket doors that slide like that. Makes the living room seem more grand. Some of the really old homes have them that are made out of walnut or mahogany that are 10 feet tall. They just aren’t made like that anymore. I’ve been wanting to ask you, have you ever been creeped out by a house? Seen or heard movement, or voices, shadows? I love looky-looing via your camera, but I’d be scared to go by myself!

@@CaliAnimalLover My brother-in-law took an old cupboard from a house that was falling down and they figured no one would mind, given the house was a goner. Took four men to lift it, but they struggled to get it out. When they got it to their house, weird things started happening. Women in the house would feel their legs being touched up and shadows would appear in one of the bedrooms. My now wife, got pinned to the bed one evening and couldn't move when she was visiting and staying in the bedroom nearest the wardrobe in the hall. They got someone in and they said the spirit hadn't wanted to leave the old house and was centred around that wardrobe and that is why it has been so hard to move. When they moved it, they moved him with it and he wasn't a nice spirit, nor happy about the move. They ended up breaking up the wardrobe and burning it. Everything stopped after that apparently. So this is a long way of saying that perhaps in some circumstances what is there moves with what they salvage from the house or moves on when the house is demolished.

Those curtains could be considered made of lame [lah-MAY] fabric 8:03 That 1/2 bath off the front entry would be considered a 'powder room' 10:00 here in the States. Basically, for when you're entertaining guests and serving copious libations as a place to relieve themselves without having to traipse throughout the entire house to the other bathrooms. Or, for the ladies to 'powder their noses' which had an altogether different connotation in the 1940s versus the 1980s! 😁

Lame has metallic threads. Antique satin has a definite sheen and what are called “slubs” or thicker raised threads, sort of irregularly spaced, running through it. The fabric is usually cut and placed so that the slubs run horizontally.

We appreciate your videos Paul. I was from Adelaide originally and moved to Mt Gambier about eight years ago, so it’s nice to see some of the familiar type of homes. We are thinking early 50s house based on light switches and the wiring for the lights/power points seemed to be added after it was built. I have been to a 40s house that had an original en-suite (Urrbrae) but generally quite rare. Would have been quite fancy to have a guest powder room. The fruits are pomegranate and quince. Love your videos and once again thanks for your efforts in putting them together.

Nice homes, it a shame to lose them to redevelopment. In the first house was there only the toilet by the front door?

The curtains were made of Shantung Silk, not cheap either. 3 lovely homes, what we wouldn't give for one of these Paul🤔. Not sure Paul but maybe the fruit tree in backyard was a peach🤔

OMG. I know that house. When you showed it at 15:21 I recognised it. I used to drive passed it everyday to work. I won’t say the road name or suburb here, but the postcode is 5081. The two Art Deco houses of the left of this house are nice too. What a beautiful house. I wonder how many small, poor quality ‘houses’ they will put on that land…

Quince are greenish yellow and are the 2nd fruit you asked about. I think the first fruits might be unripe pomegranates. Cut one open to tell.

My in-laws built a house around the same time as the first house. When the estate was sold, it was completely gutted. All the mid-century was removed. It was a shame. Still don't understand why. The house was immaculate.

Glad you enjoyed it Adela :-) Ooh my fav era?? hmmmm If I had to choose I would put the grand old late Victorian and early federation villas. I guess because they have more of a sense of old days history before even electricity was in place. Those long hallways also :-)

You can eat those pomegranate’s off of those trees make sure they are fully ripe ( deep ruby red ) & make sure there are no juice suckers ( bugs these can sting ) on them.

I loved this house and they didn't believe in closets back then. LOL Wardrobes I suppose. Thank You If it is wasn't for the traffic and closets space, I would buy it. Second Home: Dark and ugly and I received no good vibes from it. Yuck Third Home:. Really so cute. Wish you could take and ship me all that beautiful strain glass and leaded. So beautiful.
