Rad video dude. My dad married Julie, Rod's sister. My dad is actually the guy in the photo at the 7:00min mark. He was one of the main mechanics for Hilltop. Grandpa Jerry was seriously the greatest. I spent so much time working and playing on that property as I grew up. I'm sad to see it go. This video was an awesome little tribute!

Thank you for honoring Jerry, he was one of my go to guys for anything Ford. When I bought my first Galaxie 30 years ago I went to him for parts. He sold me the parts I needed and even showed me how to fix it. He kindly shared his knowledge and was the best at locating NOS parts for several of my restorations. He even helped me one time at the Escondido car show when my car would not start. He has been missed since his passing. I have toured Jerrys compound and he showed me and my friend all his collections. I won't spoil your videos by saying what he had, it was amazing. I hope it was all still there when you saw it.

Rod inherited a truly amazing collection, with a much more amazing story behind each piece in it. What's equally amazing, is that he can walk through his father's collection, and be able to identify nearly every single piece, and he has some kind of emotional attachment to soooo very much of it too. Mad props to Rod for keeping as much of this collection together as possible!!! I wonder if he has plans in place to start selling off some of this collection to people who want to keep these old beauties on the road, or the parts to help people restore cars that they already have. I agree with him in wanting to give his father's 57 to his son to rebuild, that would really mean a lot to both Rod, and his son. I hope he was able to bring a very strong majority of this collection, back home with him. I'm pretty sure what Rod meant when he said "we bleed blue", thank you for your courage to bear that job title, I know from personal experience, that's it's anything but easy. I can't wait to see part 2, and beyond, of this series, and would LOVE to see more like this. BTW, Craig, your short haircut looks a lot better than the mullet IJS. 😎 Listening to Rod at the end of this video made me miss the TBL trucker cap you used to wear in your early videos, when you first bought the red Galaxy.

My first car was a 64 Galaxie 500 4 Door, 390 Auto. I also had a 68 Torino Coupe with a 302 auto. I swapped in a 351 Windsor with an Edelbrock 4 bbl intake and a 600 Holley. I ended up selling the car to pay off the speeding tickets so I could keep my license. Keep up the good work.

You had my interest when I read "Cobra Jet" on the title. Excellent content. I had a 1967 Ford Fairlane GTA with a 428cj that I built for it. Before I went in the service I had a 66 Mercury Cyclone GT, 427 four speed car that my parents sold for me when they retired and moved. Do I wish I still had that car. I traded a 1970 Torino Cobra for it. Awesome video.

Man I love seeing all those old t-bird, fairlane's and Galaxie. You never see any of them around here in Nova Scotia; Canada were I live, any more. I remember my parents having a '67 Galaxie 500 xl 2 door with a hopped up 390; blue with a white top and under the street lights it looked purple which I though was cool. I seen my dad out run the cops and anything else that wanted to try and over take him. Would have love to get my hands on another '67 like that one.

Good Lord! Now I know why I can't find the cars I look for - they have them! The Cobra Jet title drew me in. I had a '69 Torino Cobra ("Q"), 4spd, formal roof. Possibly my favorite thing about the (FE) Cobra Jet was it's manners or lack thereof, all dependent on my right foot. In normal driving it was all but mundane, but the more aggressive you were with it the more aggressive it became, ultimately beastly if so desired. Mine was for all intensive purposes stock - I'd recurved the distributor, swapped in adjustable rockers, played with the 735 Holley a bit and installed a bed of snakes (headers). For as little attention as it was given it responded quite impressively!!!

I bleed blue too and this place is/was paradise. I hope those fastbacks get back out on the road some day. Back when I was was 14, my best friends dad bought one new, 428, shaker hood. That "fastback Torino" was likely a Cobra (no Torino Cobra till '70). They were std with the Q code 428CJ & 4-speed, new list price $3106. The R code also appears to be a Cobra(no GT trim on dash), Ram Air was $133, automatic $38 over the std 4-speed. No 1969 Torino or Cobra had a shaker, Ram Air included functional bolt on hood scoop, same used Torino GT as non functional. The olive green fastback was a Fairlane 500, trim visible trim on front fender gives that away. Not avail on GT or Cobra. The '63/'64 Mercury used 390 as base engine, no 6cyl or small blocks. There is Cobra on left in this video @t 1:32. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d53GZnmHfpxpmq8
